In 2012, Rin is a young woman with a slim and athletic figure, however she is much shorter than Tooru Oikawa and most of friends as she stands at 160cm (5'3).

Rin has big cognac brown eyes which appear orange in sunlight or any other light with long eyelashes and thin eyebrows of the same color, she has above and below her left eye from her childhood that she got from fighting another child on the playground. She has mid-length light brown ginger hair that reaches to her neck with bangs that cover the right side of her forehead in her first year of high school but has grown longer slightly below her shoulders with with with side bangs.

Post-timeskip, Rin's hair has grown much longer reaching to waist length and keeps it in a straight hairstyle. She has multiple cartilage earrings in both of her ears and has some hidden tattoos on her body.

However, she often wears a white tank top or t-shirt underneath her school t-shirt and black or white leggings with her skirt so her teachers won't really tell the difference, she wears brown loafers or sneakers.

For her hair, she either keeps it loose most of the time but during Physical Education or after school volleyball or during Economics and cooking class she ties it into a low ponytail.

As a player of the Aoba Johsai girls volleyball team, her uniform consists of the typical Aoba Johsai girls volleyball uniform for the libero, she wears a contrasting jersey in turquoise with white details with white shorts with white sports sneakers.

For her hair, she keeps it in a low ponytail or a low bun whenever she's playing in a game.

𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐋:

For normal days and casual outfits, she wears clothes that are very fashionable that she bought or designed herself. She wears her usual signature colors and adds her own unique twist to her outfits, she also adds jewelry and accessories that make her authentic self shine through.

When she's practicing for volleyball with her friends at Seijoh or with her cousin Kenma Kozume and his friends, Rin wears athletic but still high brand fashionable clothes, such as sweatpants, leggings, tank tops and t-shirts, anything that is easy for her to do workouts and practice in and breathable too with athletic shoes and has them all in her signature colors.

If she is on a romantic date with a girl or a fake date with Tooru Oikawa (who sometimes pretends to be her boyfriend to fool her parents when she's not ready to come out yet), Rin will style herself glamorously and in her most authentic style with beautiful dresses, long or short depending on the date, location and occasion or adds cute tops and t-shirts with skirts and shoes that match the outfits and accessories and jewelry that compliment her outfits, styling her hair and doing makeup as well.

For a formal event, whether it's for school, an event for her career as an adult or met gala's and more. On the weekend when there is no school and where she can lounge at home to work on her designs when she isn't swamped with school work or college applications, she wears clothes that are comfortable yet still high quality fashion such as t-shirts and tank tops with shorts, leggings, sweatpants and sometimes adds hoodies with sneakers or sandal shoes with her hair loose or in a low ponytail.

For the night time and when she is sleeping, taking the day off of having late night calls with her friends or a girl she really likes, she often wears a matching pair of pajamas such as tops and shorts/pants with slippers and keeps her hair loose or sometimes simple styles if she has products on her face that she doesn't want her hair to touch.

Rin is a confident and brash young woman with an unshakeable character. Rin is determined to stay true to herself no matter what, this shows in that even if she is afraid of coming out to her parents and even if some people don't accept her for who she is as a person and her skills, that she wants to stay true to who she is. She takes great pride in being both a pretty girl and a strong fighter and independent woman, refusing to let anyone influence her.

Initially, Rin can appear to be a very obnoxious and arrogant person, often expressing how inferior rival team players are to her and can sometimes argue with them due to her fiery personality. However, despite her abrasive attitude, Rin is actually an incredibly caring and dutiful person, as shown with her teammates at the Seijoh Girls Volleyball Club, her friends and those she holds close to her heart.

Rin is commonly referred to as a Queen Bee persona, she shows herself with unwavering confidence that others can't help but admire or envy. Rin is very intelligent and capable of doing everything in her power to get what she wants, no matter the cost and no matter how hard she has to work, which can often lead her to falling ill or burnt out which she often fights through when needed. Rin is also very stubborn, as shown how she can stick to a decision and be sometimes rigid within her schedule, mindset and decisions, this however starts to lessen as she learns to be more flexible in her teen years.

Even from a young age and to her late teen years now, Rin was always outspoken and different, not caring if anyone else looked down on her. She holds big dreams of moving to Tokyo and she shows fascination with people who are unlike others she has met and those who take pride in being themselves. Rin is willing to take charge in situations of leadership when no one else wants too, while others can be prone to panic in some situations, Rin is able to remain relatively level-headed regardless of what is happening.

Rin is shown to entertain herself by teasing others and being sarcastic, she also loves joking around in civil situations and is a huge trash talker in combative ones, no matter who it is. In comparison to her boy best friend, Tooru Oikawa, Rin is more realistic and speaks the truth, she is however willing to help him in anyway she can to get to Nationals and beat Shiratorizawa, even comforting him in the best of her abilities when they lose. Despite her distaste for crazy people, Rin has proved she is plenty crazy herself. Sometimes in class or during times where she can't really focus, she can be hyper and restless at times but keeps this side hidden as best as she can.

Rin does not worry about how her actions will jeopardize her image at school or anywhere else if she is doing the right thing, she reveals to Tooru that even though she can come off as hot headed and always angry, she admits she does want to be accepted for who she really is. Rin is very talented in many skills and she is willing to help her friends in anyway she can when given a task or challenge, another trait that shines through overtime is her compassion for the people close to her, she even is willing to share details about herself that she hides from others.

Tooru and Rin are known as the two class clowns in Class 6 at Aoba Johsai High, who both typically like to annoy Hajime Iwaizumi and their other teammates together. She shows she dislikes anyone who is willing to justify their awful attitudes on their past, showing she doesn't believe people are excused just because they come from a difficult background, and she could could care less about any sentiments based in "boys versus girls". Despite her brashness, Rin is very accepting of others flaws, differences and more, showing she does not like to discriminate people based on their differences and dislikes it when others do the same.

Rin grew up as an only child in Masutafu with an ordinary and mundane life with her mother as well respected doctor at a hospital and her father a rich CEO of a business company, with the occasional visiting of Tokyo to see her cousin Kenma Kozume and his neighbor Tetsurou Kuroo (and occasionally Erika as well), whom she was close with both of them. Because of Kenma and Tetsurou, she grew up to enjoy volleyball and played in elementary and middle school and even in high school as well. While she has a good relationship with her father, she admits her relationship with her mother was not always the easiest because her mother always expected perfection from her.

As a child, she felt that she was different in a way because she was more outspoken, she enjoyed fashion yet she was willing to get her hands dirty. She even found herself more drawn to women in her life, she was always a girls girl as she helped other girls when they were being picked on by boys and also stood up against girls who were mean to others, she was always described to a be a strong unshakeable character by everyone around since she was a child.

Realization hit Rin in her final year of middle school that she realized she was lesbian and had been crushing on a classmate of hers that was also a close friend for a long time. She knew her friend wasn't into girls which made it all the more painful for her but she confessed anyways and as expected was rejected. This is also lead her to become scared of coming out to both of her parents and her cousin too. As time passed, she managed to stand up to her mother more despite doing it in the past before and responded with disobedience. While her mother and her had fights and arguments, she still wants a good relationship with her. While their relationship isn't perfect now, it's a bit better now.

Rin was heartbroken by the rejection but managed to get over it and in her first year of high school, she met her classmate Toru Oikawa whom she originally hated and thought of him as annoying and the two clashed at first. However, upon growing closer and accidentally coming out of the closet to Toru and him telling her his burdens, the two eventually became best friends and resulted in a chaotic duo that always annoy Hajime along with the rest of his and her own team.

Rin's abilities in offense and defense in the Aoba Johsai's girls volleyball team are very proficient and efficient, as players say she's a very valuable team player. She has very strong reflexes and despite her short height, she is very fast and can jump very high for her height, she has a very flexible body which include her feet, her legs, arms and hands and she is able to receive volleys that kept cannot receive in the heat of the moment even when the speed is impossible to catch.

Rin is able to remain level-headed when her teammates are in panic mode or in shock, showing she is good at acting in the spur of the moment, being a vital asset for her team.

She's brash and loud, but also dependable and dedicated, and it's this trait makes her a respectable person.

Rin shows she is very passionate about art and fashion designing and about being true to herself and achieving the dream life she's always wanted, showing not only in her words but showing in her actions as well and she's not going to give it up, no matter what anyone else says.

When her captain or teammates are stuck in fear or panic mode or are unable to make a decision, Rin is willing to take their places to come up with a plan or at least step in for morale and mental and emotional strength for her team, although as a leader she has some weaknesses, she shows herself to be a very brave and courageous captain willing to take risks for her team for victory and considers others viewpoints for victory.

Despite her joking personality and often causing chaos with others, Rin is actually a very intelligent person and it shows many times. This shows in her academics, her abilities in volleyball and practical reasons and as the series progresses, her emotional intelligence starts to grow as well.

Ever since her childhood, Rin has been known to be very athletic and active, this shows to be a great asset to her teenage years as she started to play volleyball and practicing martial arts, even as an adult she keeps herself athletic and active for herself as she continues practicing on martial arts and does fun active workouts.

Rin's body is very agile and flexible, as shown when she does martial arts and she shows great reflexes on the court.

As shown in her childhood and that she's had a strong tolerance to pain and discomfort and due to practicing martial arts in multiple forms in her childhood, teenage years and adult years as well, she is extremely resilient on the court and any other situations.

Rin is a very dangerous opponent in the court, as shown she is powerful in a distance and closeness as well with her athletic abilities and her strong mind as well.

Rin is a logical yet creative person, she can often think on the fly and also analyze her surroundings to find the most effective victory and ways to work. She also shows herself to be logical and practical, preferring to take the logical and sometimes rational route.

She's able to see her losses and put a distance between them and herself and this allows her to maintain a healthy outlook.

Sometimes her optimistic view can falter at times but with time alone and to just feel her feelings or talk to someone, it can return and she can help others with it as well. She's able to hold her head high even in the grimmest and at her lowest as she wants to stay strong.

Despite lacking empathy for others and can be judgmental, Rin can be very accepting of others differences as she understands others are different and unique in their own way just like she is, she also shows support for the LGBTQIA+ community and friends and family who are a part of it and she is also accepting of others cultures and religions too without judgment and willing to learn.

Rin is a very talented person when it comes to art and fashion designing, as shown she can create art in all forms of media such as drawing, sketching, painting and more and she is also shown to be very skilled in sewing, embroidery and has even designed and sewn some clothes of her own as well. She is very creative with her designs and likes to add her own unique style to them.

One of her greatest strengths being as well as her greatest weaknesses, Rin's overconfidence can make her not only come off as abrasive and obnoxious but her arrogance can blind her from truly seeing her own weaknesses at times and it can backfire on her as shown several times in the storyline.

Rin is not only very intelligent but she can be very sneaky, crafty and cunning too, which can help at times but her scheming nature can make her selfish and be used for her own personal gain at times.

Rin is very stubborn, as shown how she works on her projects, designs and many other things until she gets what she wants, which can make her try to force something that is not hers in the first place and come off as greedy and selfish.

Rin can be very impulsive in her decisions and acts on her impulses at times, often getting her into bad situations or into trouble with others.

Shared with her impulsive and impatient personality, Rin can be very reckless with her decisions and sometimes doesn't realize until it is too late.

While this can be a positive trait of hers, Rina's risk taking trait can lead her into a lot of trouble without looking in the situation or at least thinking about the risks she is taking.

While Rin can be accepting of others differences if they are close to her, this also is a challenge for her because at times she is overly judgmental and combative. She often assumes the worst of people, and this automatically puts her into an aggressive stance that makes it difficult for others to open up to her and this attitude means it takes a while for strangers to warm up to her, and could come back to bite her at times. However as time passes, she learns to become more accepting of people as a person.

• 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘺:

In the beginning, Rin bares a lack of empathy towards others for those she views as corrupt. Her natural instinct is complete her task, project or any game in volleyball in whatever way possible, and most of the time she does not care if she has to stomp on others to achieve her goal. This lack of empathy means she misses out on chances to help enemies or opponents to become friends or allies in anyway. She has a hard time seeing the goodness in others, which a major weakness in who she is as a person.

• 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦:

Much like her lack in empathy, Rin can also be insensitive to others at times with her blunt nature and her tendency to speak her mind or do whatever she wants, which makes her not always take others feelings into account or consideration, but she learns to be kinder and more considerate to others as the story goes along.

While Rin does have the utmost confidence in her own abilities and she trusts that she is strong and smart enough to handle any opponent on the court and rival in her career, and this confidence is undoubtedly a strength of hers. However, at times, her overconfidence can get the better of her. In particular, Rin has a bad habit of underestimating her opponent on the court or in any way possible, which can really backfire on her.

• 𝘖𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧:

A trait that she inherited from both of her parents, Rin can often overwork herself when working on projects she is passionate about as she is very stubborn and sometimes refuses to rest until she is finished, which can make her sick or feel very tired in the end.

Rin is a versatile player who is effective both from a distance and up close on the court with her skills as a Libero. However, while she is quite versatile, her techniques do have a few glaring weaknesses. One weakness is that she only has a limited amount of ideas that can work, most of them are often reckless and there are very few that are not because she is very narrow minded at times, this can be an exploitable weakness on the court but as she listens to her teammates she improves on this skill.

Overall, as Rin is a very talented volleyball player, as she is strong and cunning and her abilities in volleyball are both versatile and powerful. Her skills have increased greatly as time passes through the storyline, however she does have one weakness as a player that improved during her second year and it is her low mobility. She is not as fast as her other teammates in the beginning but she learns to slowly but surely overcome it.

Despite being confident in herself and often can be insensitive to others, Rin is actually more sensitive that she comes off to be. When she is questioned about her sexuality to her parents, she wants to remain true to herself but genuinely fears not being accepted by her parents if she came out and she is good at taking criticism but sometimes when there is too much rejection in one day, Rin can become more sensitive and others can get under her skin more easily, which can be a great weakness of hers.
