Cooking With the Inazumans - Ayaka and Ei

"We must make it up to Y/N somehow..."
"Agreed, once I heal, I shall begin preparations for another cooking date."
------------------------------------------------------
"Ei...I think it's about time we taught you how to cook..."
You both stared in disbelief at the now empty glass of water that had charred marks all over it. Broken glass with cloudy smoke as Ei looked disappointed in herself for somehow finding a way to burn your water. An impressive feat if not done so by accident.
"I...apologize for burning your drink, Y/N," her ears turned a bit pink in shame, "I shall fetch a servant to bring you a new glass if you wish."
You shook your head, chuckling as your shogun showed embarrassment towards you. "No need, Raiden Ei, I'm not as parched anymore..." Carefully, you grasped at the shogun's hands, smiling when you caught her face fluttering with surprise, "Instead, I'd like to spend the day with you teaching you how to cook. As it takes a real impressive skill to burn water, miss shogun."
Ei flinched at your playful nickname for her and felt her ears grow a bit warmer. Looking away in hopes of you not catching her bashful reaction. "You really do not have to do that, Y/N. I assure you that my servants cook very healthy and delicious meals for me, so you not have to trouble yourself in teaching me how to cook."
Ei seemed confident in her answer, but in truth, she was just too scared to even try to learn how to cook. As the last time she tried to cook something, it engulfed the whole kitchen in flames. The stench of bitter acrylamide being the only thing you could smell for weeks before finally being doused in lavender air freshener.
Yeah, she was banned from the kitchen after that.
In fact, Ei was so bad at cooking, that she once used a frying pan upside down, and was confused as to why the food kept falling off. An embarrassing situation that the shogun definitely did not want her crush to see.
Yeah...her crush. The beautiful and stunning Miss Y/N L/N. A woman that made Ei's knees go weak and make her do stupid things like accidentally bump into doorways when she was daydreaming about you. Yep, she was down bad for you.
And it was her crush on you that caused her to be so fearful of cooking in front of you. As she was worried you'd find her clumsiness in the kitchen distasteful or unattractive. Striking fear that the shogun never knew she could have.
"Oh please Ei?" you begged softly, giving her a pleading look, "I'd love to just spend the day with you cooking, no matter how inexperienced you may be!"
Your eyes made it almost impossible for the shogun to say no to you, feeling as if something were stabbing her heart with a million feathers to accept your kind offer.
"I...sigh, alright then Y/N. I accept your proposal."
"Yayyyy!"
You quickly hugged the Raiden Shogun and felt her muscles tense up under your touch. Normally anyone who dared touch the shogun without her permission would be blasted into ash before they could even fully engulf her. But...since you were her longtime crush and best friend, Ei made an exception. In fact, she quite loved your hugs, and wished that they would last a bit longer due to how warm you could be.
"J-Just a small issue, Y/N," Ei spoke with a slight hesitance in her throat, "I am...unfortunately banned from the palace kitchen. As the cooks refuse to let me in after an unfortunate circumstance that happened previously."
Watching as Ei grew a bit more embarrassed with her story, you chuckled and gave her hand a comforting squeeze. "Don't worry about that miss shogun, we can cook in my kitchen. As I can assure you that you're always welcome no matter how much you destroy it."
You sure know how to make an archon blush so much...
------------------------------------------------------
"Your...house is quite lovely, Y/N."
"Thank you Ei, I know it's not as big as the palace, but I'm sure the kitchen is enough to suffice."
Giggling as you led her through the halls of your home, Ei shot you a calm and collected smile as she let her eyes trail over the beautiful décor of the home you grew up in. A small feeling of panic being masked behind her eyes as all she could think of was 'I'm in Y/N's house. I'm in Y/N's house. Don't do anything strange--'
"Ei?"
Nearly sending a blast of electro energy everywhere, Ei stiffened and glanced in your general direction. The two of you had stopped walking and were standing in front of a large fusuma door with beautiful ivy designs embraided into its cloth.
"Y-Yes?" the shogun felt a smidge bit embarrassed that she was caught spacing out by you.
"We're here!" you sent her a small smile and slid open the door to reveal a rather large kitchen that seemed a bit cleaner than usual. (You had cleaned it a few hours prior to Ei's arrival. Wanting to impress her).
"Ah..." Ei felt her heart sink as full realization dawned on her. She really had to try and cook in front of you.
"Hm, I know I put it down here somewhere..." bending down to grab a cookbook your grandmother brought you, Ei tried her best to divert her eyes and pay her attention elsewhere. As you weren't aware of it, but Ei could get a full glimpse of your ass.
'Bepolitebepolitebepolitebepolite--'
"Aha! I found it!" standing back up, you pulled a thick cookbook up with you. Turning back to Ei and growing concerned when you caught her mumbling under her breath and staring out the window.
"...Miss shogun?" Ei spun around at your nickname and cleared her throat. "Oh, you found it. Wonderful."
Not wanting you to worry about why her face was hotter than the sun, Ei went ahead and took the cookbook from your hands. Nose twitching at the thin layer of dust coating the top, and threatening to sneeze. "Does your cookbook have any recipes for sweets? I'd love to have something sweet for our afternoon lunch..."
"Oh, Ei..." you giggled, playfully flicking at her shoulder, "You can't have sweets for lunch my shogun. It's just not proper."
Seeing her face deflate in disappointment, you only smiled wider. "But for you my shogun, I will make an exception. Strawberry daifuku for my dearest coming right up!"
'My dearest?!'
As Ei was having a mental shutdown in her head, you began searching the cabinets for ingredients you may need for your recipe. As strawberry daifuku wasn't a very difficult recipe to replicate. Surely, the Raiden Shogun could make strawberry daifuku...right? I mean, she wouldn't need to be around the oven...
Zoning out in your thoughts, you failed to notice the subtle knocking on your courtyard door. Getting caught off guard when Ei lightly tapped your shoulder to "wake you up."
"Y/N...someone is knocking on your backdoor. Did you invite anyone today?"
Secretly hoping you didn't, you shook your head. Much to her relief.
"I'm not expecting anyone today so I'm not sure who in the world that could be," setting down a stone bowl, you exited the kitchen and told Ei to wait as you greeted the door. Curious as to see who could be visiting you so early in the afternoon.
"Who is it?" you chimed, eyes widening when you heard the melodious giggle of your childhood best friend.
"Ayaka!" you exclaimed, opening the door and seeing the princess of the Kamisato clan herself. "Y/N, hell-- oh!" Ayaka gasped when you quickly embraced her. The princess growing a bit shy when you engulfed her in your warmth, as she too had a similar liking to you like the shogun.
"I wasn't expecting you today, what brings you here?" Ayaka smiled at your enthusiasm and patted the back of your head in affection. "I just wanted to see you today, Y/N. I wasn't too busy today, so I thought it'd be a pleasure to see the one person I loved sincerely."
Well, those words flew over your head.
"Oh Ayaka, that's so sweet," you cooed, the princess feeling her heart flutter at your praise, "Actually, you came at the perfect time! I was just teaching the shogun how to cook today!"
And the fluttering feeling in her chest stopped. Ayaka growing confused at your statement, as she wasn't sure if she heard you correctly. "...The...The shogun?" she repeated, brows furrowing in puzzlement.
"Yes, Raiden Ei!" you smiled, "You know how much she cares for me in the palace. It's practically my second home at this point with how much I tend to her."
Ayaka felt a stab to her heart. She thought her home was your second home.
"I...I see..." Ayaka glanced to the side in a bit of jealousy, "Is she here with you right now?"
She hoped that she wasn't. After all, Ayaka came over with the sole purpose of being with you. Alone.
"She is actually!"
Goddammit.
"She's just waiting for me in the kitchen right now. We're making strawberry daifuku together!"
Another stab to the heart.
"Together?" Ayaka repeated, still unable to wrap her head around the idea of the almighty shogun of all people, waiting in your kitchen to make strawberry daifuku with you.
"Mhm!" you suddenly gave her an inspired smile, "Gasp, wait, would you like to cook with us, Ayaka? It would be just like when we were kids!"
Just like when you were kids... Ayaka felt herself smiling at an old, fond memory. In which your grandmother had the two of you cook together on a playdate. Making mochi together and you struggling to pound the mochi properly with your weak little child arms. Ayaka was able to do it properly however, and would stand behind you with her arms wrapped around your waist and her hands sitting atop of yours.
Looking back, it was adorable. But if you were to do it as adults now...
Ayaka felt her cheeks warm up. It would surely be romantic...
"Erm, if you're not too busy..." Ayaka smiled bashfully, watching as you started to grow excited. "Great! Ah, us cooking together would be so nostalgic! I can't wait!"
Grasping the princess' hand into your own, you quickly led her through the corridors and failed to notice how Ayaka clung onto your hand a bit tighter. Savoring the warmth from your palms as you opened the fusuma doors to your kitchen.
There, Ei was sitting on the counter top stacking stone bowls on top of each other due to being bored while waiting. The tower was a bit wobbly and unstable but nevertheless, it was at an impressive height for how long you've been gone.
"I'm back Ei! Look who came over," gesturing to the princess of the Kamisato clan, Ayaka gave Ei a simple wave in greeting and bowed in respect for her shogun. She was envious, sure, but she was still respectful to her higher ups.
"Oh, Miss Kamisato..." Ei began gently dismantling her bowl tower, "What brings you here..."
"I was free today so I decided to visit my dearest Y/N," Ayaka felt proud as she said this, "I've been visiting her almost every time I've been free."
'Every time?' the shogun felt her nose twitch in annoyance. 'Likewise. Y/N always spends her time at my palace.'
Sensing a bit of uncomfortable tension between the two, you took it upon yourself to began setting up preparations for strawberry daifuku. "Well then! Since Ayaka has visited us, we shall be cooking strawberry daifuku together, sound good?" you smiled as you began opening a bag of powdery flour.
"...Sounds good." Ei and Ayaka both murmured. Pushing aside their slight jealousy for one another in order to make you happy.
"Good! Now Ei, can you grab those strawberries and wash them? Ayaka and I will get started measuring and mixing..."
------------------------------------------------------
Ei and Ayaka were...working surprisingly well with each other. Granted, they hardly ever spoke to one another or glanced in each other's general direction, but the kitchen wasn't on fire so that was an achievement.
Proud of the efficient kitchen set up you created, you went over to check on how Ei was handling the strawberries. As she was too scared to use the kitchen knife on her own to cut the leaves off the fruit.
"Y/N..." Ei mumbled, her hand shaking as she gripped the kitchen knife in her hand. "Help..."
You giggled at her obvious discomfort and went over to go help Ei. Leaving Ayaka to continue kneading the glutinous rice mixture on her own. "Oh dear, what's wrong Ei?" you queried, the poor almighty shogun practically sweating from the sheer intensity of cutting up strawberries on her own.
"...Strawberries." Ei mumbled in a low voice. Glaring at the red fruit like it were the devil.
"D'aw, it's simple really, miss shogun," moving behind her, you placed your hands over Ei's and felt her posture stiffen at your front pressed up against her back. "Grip the knife steady...that's it..."
Wrapping your fingers around her palm, you steadied the shogun's shaking hands and felt her body slowly relax against yours. Raising the knife together and holding a strawberry firmly against the cutting board. Using the sharp end of the knife to quickly slice through the stem as quickly as possible.
"Oh! You did it miss shogun," you giggled, helping Ei continue with the next couple of strawberries. "Just keep slicing the leaves at a steady pace and you won't cut yourself, alright?"
"Affirmative." Ei felt her shoulders relax the more she felt you wrapped around behind her. As it was your comforting words and soothing touch that allowed her to relax this way.
"Y/N..." you heard another voice call, "I need your help..."
Turning over to Ayaka, you noticed that she was struggling to knead a rather thick blob of glutinous rice mixture. Her hands caked in flour with her sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Truly a stunning sight to behold, as you could see the princess' keen muscles after sword fighting for years on end.
"Of course Ayaka," you felt your breath catch in your throat, the realization that two very beautiful ladies were with you at this moment, "I'll be right with you.."
Feeling your arms slip from her waist, Ei felt a bit disappointed and turned to see you walking in Ayaka's direction to go help her out. A numbing pang of jealousy overcoming the shogun as she silently watched you two from the corner of her eye.
"What is it Ayaka? Is it the dough?"
The princess gave you a smile and nodded, a bit of flour from the rice mixture cheekily clinging on to the edge of her mouth. "This portion of dough is a bit too thick for me to knead. I...may need a little help if that is alright..."
Finding her hesitance in asking for help adorable, you smiled and used your finger to wipe off the flour clinging to her face. The princess blushing while you did so, as you did it without warning and managed to catch her off guard. "Of course I can miss Kamisato, orders from the princess must be upheld at once!"
"Ah!" Ayaka began fussing up over her words in an attempt to explain that it wasn't an order, "It wasn't order Y/N, I was just asking! Please, don't do it if you don't want to..."
Waving her hands around in denial, you only giggled at her reaction and flicked her shoulder. Causing her to stop and realize that you were just playing. "I was just playing, Ayaka," you chimed, smearing a bit of flour on the tip of her nose and making the princess flinch.
'Hah...even all grown up, you still act all childish when making mochi...'
Ayaka would remember how messy you would be whenever the two of you would cook. Getting food all over you and her whenever it was something dry and powdery.
"Even now, you still have that adorable charm..." Ayaka smiled, deciding to play your game and flick a bit of flour on your forehead. Catching you off guard, as the refined princess of the Kamisato clan almost never purposely made someone messy. The only exception being you.
"Oh? Ayaka!" you laughed, getting a bit of flour from a bowl and blowing it at her. The princess sneezing at all the powder and giggling when the cloud of dust settled to show your beaming face. "Simple payback my dear," Ayaka responded, a playful tone in her voice as she readied herself to launch more flour at you.
"Why you cheeky little thi--"
"Ah!"
Hearing the small yelp of pain coming from behind you, both you and Ayaka turned around to see the shogun herself holding her finger in pain. Face contorted in pain as she sucked in air from her teeth. "Oww..."
"E-Ei!" you quickly wiped your powdery hands on your stockings and rushed over to see if Ei was okay. Ayaka quickly following behind in concern.
"Oh dear...what happened?" Ayaka asked worriedly, her jealousy fading away almost instantly as she was now worried for her shogun's safety.
"I...I seemed to have accidentally cut myself..." Ei responded embarrassedly, cradling her bleeding finger with caution.
She was doing so well in cutting the strawberries when she kept spotting you and Ayaka having fun. Distracted from your laughter, she accidentally misplaced her knife and sliced a cut on her finger, leading up to these unfortunate series of events which led to you taking note of never putting Ei on knife duty ever again.
"Oh, Ei..." you murmured, reaching out for her hand, "Can I see it? I promise I won't touch it."
Of course you could. The shogun trusted you with anything.
Extending her bleeding finger, your eyes glossed over in sympathy as you clasped the shogun's wrist with one hand, and Ayaka's wrist in the other.
"Come you two. I'm going to wrap Ei's wound up with my personal med kit. We can continue making strawberry daifuku another time..."
"...Okay."
Both Ei and Ayaka glanced at each other in acknowledgment. Seeming to have a mutual understanding that you were quite bummed out from not being able to make strawberry daifuku with the two of them.
Sure they were quite jealous of one another for stealing you away from them, but above all else, your happiness was more important. So the two decided to simmer down their envy for each other, and show you just how much they both individually cared for you.
"We must make it up to Y/N somehow..." Ayaka murmured, the shogun nodding in agreement.
"Agreed, once I heal, I shall begin preparations for another cooking date."
Cooking date huh?
Both Ayaka and Ei had an idea.
Why not just cut out the cooking part and call it a date?
------------------------------------------------------
"Ei? Where are you taking me? Is your injury okay? Come on, you haven't spoken at all during this time and I'm curious!"
The almighty shogun chuckled at your curiosity and tugged you a bit forward to lead you on in her direction. As you were blindfolded with a pink sash and taken somewhere outside by yours truly.
"Just keep walking dearest Y/N..." Ei teased, chuckling at your poor navigation skills without your eye sight.
"I swear Ei, this better not be some elaborate set up to get me into your bed," you teased, only imagining how Ei's face must've looked when you said that.
It had been a couple of days since the whole cooking fiasco thing with Ayaka and Ei, and you were wondering if something happened while you were silently patching up Ei's wound. As the two of them would not stop throwing each other quick glances and whispering behind your back whenever you went out to get some more water.
You couldn't help but grow a bit curious as to what exactly they were planning. The only hints to where you were being the cool, outside air and the beaming sunshine on your back.
"...The gardens?" you questioned out loud, only to receive no answer from Ei until you finally stopped at a grassy clearing.
"Correct Y/N, you may take the blindfold off now..."
Excited to see what surprise awaited you, you untied the knot from behind and watched as your vision slowly cleared to show Ayaka sitting on a picnic blanket with plates of strawberry daifuku and other mochi desserts sprawled out around her.
"Ehe, surprise Y/N!" Ayaka beamed, holding up a plate of beautifully sculpted daifuku, "Ei and I made some desserts together since we know how sad you were having to cancel the cooking event early..."
"So, we decided to put together a little picnic date with the three of us to make up for it," Ei continued, going over to sit down on the opposite side of Ayaka. Leaving just one spot for you in the middle. "Will you join us?"
...Was that even a question?!
"Of course I would! You don't even need to ask-- thank you you two! You're both just the sweetest!"
Feeling their heart speed up at the praise and happiness emitting from you, they scooted over and allowed you to nestle in between them on the blanket. Excited to try their strawberry daifuku just for you.
"Wow...these look so pretty! How suitable for the two prettiest ladies of Inazuma..."
Catching their blushing faces, you only smiled and led them on more. Deciding to play the nonchalant and innocent card, as they seemed to be unaware that you knew about both their feelings. "Hm, which daifuku should I try?"
"Try this one Y/N, I made it with a lot of red bean paste, your favorite since you were little," Ayaka raised a daifuku from the plate and held it over to you with her hand on your right.
"Ah, perhaps try this one? I picked the strawberries for it, so they're nice and sweet..." Ei held up her own daifuku on your left.
Uh oh...
The two women stared at each other in surprise. Eyes wide in embarrassment and slight jealousy.
"I can fix this!" you chimed in, a cheeky and flirtatious smile fitting onto your lips.
Quickly, you placed a quick kiss on Ayaka's cheek, and another one on Ei's cheek. The two women's faces heating up hotter than a Jueyun chili. "There! Now I tried both daifuku mochis! The best mochis I've ever had..."
And with that melodious yet playful laugh, you continued to nonchalantly enjoy your picnic date. With two, very red, strawberry daifukus sitting right beside you.
