Rosa sat at the dining room table eating a bowl of cereal. A tall glass of orange juice sat next to the cereal. She yawned and rubbed her eyes as she ate, hating herself for waking up so early.
She heard footsteps come into the dining room.
"Rosa?" Her mother's voice asked, "What are you doing up so early?"
Rosa shrugged, "I don't know. I just am" she said eating a spoonful of cereal.
"Oh" her mother said, walking into the kitchen. The footsteps abruptly stopped and Rosa's mother walked backwards and stared at Rosa.
Rosa raised an eyebrow and asked, "What?"
"It's just..." Her mother muttered.
Rosa took a sip of orange juice.
"What is that on your neck?"
Rosa choked on her drink. She quickly realized that she looked guilty and composed herself.
"What are you talking about, mom?" Rosa asked.
Her mother crossed her arms and narrowed her eyes, "That mark on your neck"
"What mark?"
"Rosa tell me the truth. I won't get mad" her mother said.
"It's nothing mom" Rosa denied.
Her mother was silent for awhile.
She finally spoke up again, "Where were you last night?"
Rosa groaned, "I was with Cheren and Bianca"
"Oh?"
"Yeah. Cheren was working on something in the gym"
"That's funny"
Rosa narrowed her eyes, "Why?"
"Because all of the gym leaders were in Nacrene City last night at a meeting"
Rosa facepalmed, knowing she was caught. She couldn't really tell her mom what happened! She'd get grounded for life! But if she lied, she could also get grounded for life.
Rosa sighed, "You can't get mad"
"I won't" her mother promised.
"I'm serious"
"Rosa, I won't get mad!"
Rosa ran her finger around the brim of the glass of juice, "I was with Hugh"
"Oh! Simply a battle gone wrong" her mother said, relieved, walking into the kitchen.
Rosa cringed, "Uh mom...that's not it"
"What is it then?" Her mom's voice asked.
Rosa couldn't believe her mom was being so dense. Of course, what happened is the very last thing she'd expect from Hugh. She also didn't know that Rosa and Hugh were dating.
Rosa stood up and yelled to her mom, "Hugh and I are dating!"
She waited for her mother to respond, but she just walked out of the kitchen with a dumbfounded look on her face.
"That's nice dear..." she said.
Rosa raised an eyebrow, "That's it?"
"Well I owe his mother money now- she always knew you two would date eventually"
Rosa rolled her eyes and groaned.
The pieces suddenly seemed to fall together for Rosa's mom.
"Wait...Hugh didn't..." her mother whispered. Rosa grinned sheepishly.
"What?! Rosa!" Her mother yelled.
"You said you wouldn't get angry!" Rosa yelled back, pointing at her mother.
"Who cares what I said?! Rosa I can't believe you!"
"Mom it's no big deal" Rosa said.
"No big deal?! Are you kidding?!"
"This isn't a big deal!" Rosa argued, pointing to the mark on her neck, "Its nothing compared to-"
Rosa stopped herself, realizing she'd said too much.
"Compared to what?" Her mother asked.
"Nothing" Rosa denied, crossing her arms.
"Rosa, tell me right now or I'm taking your Xtransceiver away"
Rosa took her Xtransceiver off her wrist and threw it at her mom.
"This isn't funny"
"Kind of is"
"You're in so much trouble"

"Goodnight Hilda" Hilda's mom chirped as she went up the stairs to her room.
"Night mom!" Hilda answered, sitting on the couch in her living room.
She turned the tv on and began searching for something to watch. The only thing of interest was some show about paranormal stories.
Hilda watched the show for hours, and at about 2 am, there was a knock at the door. Hilda jumped at the knocking and stared at the door. She hesitantly got up and slowly made her way to the door.
She pressed her ear against the door and asked, "Who is it?"
"Hilda!" A familiar voice chirped.
Hilda opened the door, "N?"
As the door opened, Hilda saw her boyfriend standing there, his arms swaying, a grin on his face, and a faded look in his eyes.
"Hilda!" He yelled, throwing his arms up as if he was on a roller coaster.
Hilda raised an eyebrow, "Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah! Can I come in? Do you have food?" He asked, pushing past Hilda and going inside.
As he walked past her, she noticed he smelled funny...like alcohol.
"What'cha watchin'?" He slurred, looking at the tv.
"N? What were you doing tonight?" Hilda asked, closing the door.
N whipped his head around, "I was hanging out with Cheren and Hugh!"
"Why?" Hilda asked suspiciously. Hugh and Cheren didn't necessarily enjoy N's company, so Hilda found it odd that he was with them.
"I don't know..." N whispered.
"Natural Harmonia, are you drunk?"
"What's drunk?"
Hilda sighed. N was of legal drinking age, and the boys had probably used him to get their hands on alcohol.
"Sit on the couch" Hilda commanded.
"Okay" N said, sitting on the couch. His eyes landed on the tv, which was currently playing commercials. His head was titled like a dog Pokémon as he watched the different pointless commercials.
Hilda went into the kitchen and made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She walked back into the living room, sat down on the couch, and shoved the sandwich in N's hands.
"Eat it" she told him.
"Okay" he said, taking a bite.
Hilda turned the tv off as N quietly ate his sandwich. Hilda rubbed her temples and sighed.
"Hilda?"
"Hmm?"
"I love you"
Hilda laughed softly, "I love you too, N"
N finished his sandwich and laid his head on Hilda's lap.
"I really do, you know"
Hilda smiled and shifted so she was sitting in the same direction as N, her left leg on the side of his body and her right leg hanging off of the couch.
She played with his hair, "I know"
N laid quietly for awhile before suddenly saying, "We'll get married some day"
Hilda blushed, "What?"
"Yeah...That's a human thing, right? When you love someone? You get married?"
"Yes..." Hilda said hesitantly, "You really think about that?" she asked.
"I don't know," N said, closing his eyes, "but father had always said that Kings were more powerful if they had a queen. When I thought about a queen by my side she didn't really have a face you know? But then I met you...and then she did"
Hilda smiled. She knew this wasn't something N would normally say if he was sober. He wouldn't ever talk about the future, just the present.
N soon fell asleep. Hilda leaned back on the arm of the couch and closed her eyes, falling asleep as well.
N woke up feeling like his head was exploding. He couldn't remember much of what happened the night before- only bits and pieces. He remembered drinking some funny tasting drinks with Hugh and Cheren...but not much else.
He opened his eyes and noticed that he was in Hilda's house. He tried to sit up and look for her, but his head rejected the action, pounding in resistance. He laid back down and closed his eyes.
He heard shuffling in the kitchen and smelled coffee, but for all he knew that was Hilda's mother.
N groaned.
"N?" A voice called.
He recognized the voice, "Hilda?" he asked.
Footsteps made their way over to the couch and N opened his eyes to see his girlfriend standing over him.
She was wearing a white t-shirt and gray sweatpants, her hair was down instead of in its normal ponytail, and she was holding a mug in her hands.
He instantly felt a little bit better at the sight of her, "Hilda" he whispered.
"Sit up and drink this" she commanded, holding out the mug for him to take it.
N hesitantly sat up, wincing as his head pounded. He took the mug from her hands and noticed it was warm. He realized the liquid inside of the mug was coffee. N brought the mug up to his lips and took small sips of the coffee.
He looked up at Hilda and noticed her crossed arms and stern expression.
N brought the coffee mug away from his lips, "What?" He asked.
"Would you like to explain to me why you came by my house at 2 am smelling like alcohol?" She asked, though it seemed like she already knew the answer.
"I would but...I..."
"Don't remember?"
"Yeah..."
"Oh N," she sighed, sitting down next to him, "Please never hang out with Hugh and Cheren without me or the other girls there"
N raised an eyebrow, "How did you know I was with those two?"
"You told me"
"But I don't remem-"
"That's what alcohol does. Too much of it'll make you forget what happened while you were drinking it"
"Oh..."
Hilda sighed and put her face in her hands. N held he mug with one hand and placed his free hand on Hilda's leg.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
Hilda looked up at him, "Am I okay? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," N said, taking his hand and tucking some of Hilda's hair behind her ear, "I just want to know if you're okay"
Hilda laughed softly, "I'm fine"
"Now to fill you in on what you said last night"
