The displacement

Covered with blankets on the neigbors floor, I tossed and turned sleep eluded me for several hours. Our lives will forever be changed, hearing foot steps and voices all around me, I turned in the direction of the voices wrapping the blanket around my shoulders, entering the kitchen my parents we're seated at the table drinking coffee, bags under their eyes. Noticing me Mrs Richards invited me to sit on the stool, as she prepared breakfast Sarah and timothy were her children, there was a nuturing warmth about her, that seemed to calm my spirit, puting your mind at ease. The warmth from the fireplace filled the room. The Richards we're kind,  and generous people. Within moments my attention was distracted,  I heard footsteps running down the stairs Sarah and timothy we're average teenagers. They went to st john's academy. Sarah looked over at me with a curious staire, I usually walked past her everyday on my way to Mr peter's science class, seeing the spark of recognition in her eyes looking away briefly she replied  "I'm sorry about your home " in a low voice I answered her "its okay at least everybody made it out of the house"looking away feeling the heaviness and sadness of the moment,  Mrs Richards lightened the mood changing the subject. She began to serve breakfast, we ate and talked quietly about school,  and home coming, after finishing breakfast she invited me upstairs to her room, before i followed her upstairs i gazed over at mother. Nodding her approval, after picking up our plates, Sarah and i rinsed them, placing them inside the dishwasher. Following her up the stairs we walked down the hallway. Openings the door, we entered her bedroom i noticed that we had alot   of the same posters she plastered on her walls. Pulling out the chair to her  desk,  she gestured for me to sit on the bed. Looking around curiously, i noticed alot of splashes of color, deep purples,  pinks, the room had a cozy feel to It. Pulling out her phone,  she connected her blue  tooth speaker,  within moments music filled the air, listening to the music i temperarily forgot my troubles. After listening for several hours, i decided to check on things down stairs. Descending down the stairs there was a change in scenary, the men moved outside in the garage, the ladies were gathered at the dinning room table, sipping tea they appeared to be sharing a deep conversation, oblivious to my prescence they continued to play bridge. The day seemed to drag, It took me a while to mentally process, my current circumstances, deep down i know that things would never be the same. Retreating into the Solace of my personal thoughts, i sat in the window seal looking out the window my thoughts we're many, I observed the children littering the streets riding their bikes, hover boards. The older kids sat under the trees oblivious to the laughter and innocence of the children playing outside. They we're too busy texting and viewing social  media on their smart phones. Snapping backing into reality,  I noticed a police patrol car parking in front of the house, my eyes we're revited to the officers quickly approaching the porch.  I ran  and told everyone of the officers arrival. When the door bell chimed Mr Richards answered the door, after the officers showed their badges identifying themselves they  we're permitted to enter the house. Stepping aside allowing the officers to enter detective Arnold announced that he was  an arson investigator,  and their our suspicions in the nature of the cause of the fire. He informed my parents that they would have  to go down to the police  station for questioning. Mother quietly told mat and I to wait in the living  room, distracted by all the activity,  I hesitated for a moment, looking over at my brother Matt we began to make  our way to the living room. After a short while,   father entered the room grabbing their coats, he told matt and I that they we're headed  down to the police station for questioning. After arriving at the police station they we're escorted inside, they we're immediately  taken  to seperate rooms. Mr Richards held his composure, as he sipped the lukewarm  coffee inside the styrofoam cup. The detectives entered the room with un emotional  hardening expressions, surprised at the change in their demeanor, detective Arnold spoke "it is believed  that  we may  suspect that  arson may have played a role in the fire. Mr Reynolds looked around the room in disbelief, amazed at the unfortunate turn of events, they questioned Mrs Reynolds separately as she fidgeted nervously, after many hours of questioning they led the Reynolds down the hall, placing them inside a holding cellWhispering they comforted each other, Mr Reynolds sat upon the cold bench inside the cell deep in thought. Remembering his mothers words to him, always remember to pray in good times,  and bad times. Listening to that little voice inside his heart he began to pray silently  within himself. Mrs Reynolds burried  her face inside her husbands chest  and wept openly, He wrapped his arms around her, hearing foot steps they looked up expectantly. Un moved by the showing of emotion the detectives  stood inches from  the tiny cell, the detectives spoke discreetly making sure no one heard the conversation. He explained to the Reynolds child protective services will be going  to your neighbor's residence to pick up the children taking them  into protective custody. Mrs Reynolds sobbed uncontrollably, Mr Reynolds lowered his head,  holding his face in the palm of his hands. His heart burning with anger, they both we're frustrated by the uncertainty of their situation.
