29| Cooking Breakfast

"Damn! Why can't I fix this?!" Yuu growled while trying to fix his messed hair. "stop going to bed with wet hair."

Kimizuki snorted as Yuu continued to growl, him and the boys were walking up to the place where the girls at.

Then an albino haired girl who ran with a great speed, opened the doors as she entered the place. "Made it~!"

"Shiro?" Yuu said as he saw her panting heavily. "g-good morning, everyone." the good-natured girl greeted the three males with a smile.

"Good morning, Shiro-san." Yoichi politely greeted back.

"Huh? I thought your with the girls who are about to make breakfast?" Kimizuki raised an eyebrow, confused.

Shiro scratched the back of her head while smiling sheepishly, "I woke up late, so I wasn't able to be in time."

"You have to sleep early." Yoichi advised as he noticed she has eye bags, "I'm sorry..."

"Shinoa and Mitsuba are now the ones who will do the cooking, right?" Yuu asked the pink haired boy.

"Will they even succeed in cooking our breakfast?" Kimizuki huffed.

"I'm sure it'll be fine. It's two girls." the brown haired fellow chirped as he walked upstairs.

"Yuu...your hair." Shiro said as she saw his hair sticking up, he blushed.

"S-Shut up! I can't fix it!" he stuttered while trying to cover the bright crimson blush across his face.

"Want me to fix it for you?" she offered. "You can?!" he yelled.

She smiled as she nodded, then he signalled for her to continue. Shiro's fingers touched his slick black hair and fixed it like the usual.

"Was your hair wet last time when you fall asleep?" she asked as he nodded.

"No wonder its like this." Shiro sighed as she continued to fix his hair.

"S-Shut up..." Yuu muttered while blushing, he was embarrassed of his visible bed hair. "done~"

Her hands left his black hair as she smiled after looking at his hair. "It doesn't look bad, does it?"

"Nope. It looks great." she said, then she grabbed his glove hand and pulled him with her. "Let's chase the others!"

They ran upstairs to reach Kimizuki and Yoichi who were at the lead, once they reached the floor, she dropped his hand. "say, where are the others?"

"Room three." Yoichi answered Yuu's question as he nodded in reply.

"KYAAAAH~!" they heard two female voices in chorus as the others walked up to where the sound is at.

"Are you guys alright?!" Yuu asked as he stopped and saw the scene in front of him while calming down.

"You're burning it! Exactly how can you burn an omelet?!"

"I read in a book that alcohol makes it taste better, too!"

Shinoa and Mitsuba argued with each other about the burned omelet, then Shiro walked up to them and started to cook decent meals.

"I-I'll do the cooking, so please calm down!" she calmly said to the paranoid girls.

Few moments later, Shinoa and Mitsuba watched the white haired girl cook alone. "I'll help you too, Shiro."

"That will be helpful, Kimizuki-kun." she answered as he pitched in cooking breakfast.

Both of them cooked the meals as the others watched them nonchalantly, the two of them worked with each other fluidly. "can you please pass me the salt near you?" she asked.

"Here." he said as he passed her a bottle of salt. "thank you."

Meanwhile the others were shocked and surprised, also saddened that they couldn't do anything to help.

"I-I'm so sorry for not being able to be helpful." Shiro apologised to the the two girls humbly.

"No, it's not your fault...It's Mitsu-chan's, don't worry!" Shinoa said.

"But I read that alcohol makes it better." Mitsuba huffed.

"Still, I'm sorry! If only I woke up early, I would be able to be helpful!"

She continued apologising as Yuu sighed, "why are you apologising to them, Shiro? Your the one who did most of the cooking." he said.

"B-But if I woke up more early, the omelet wouldn't be b-burned..." she answered while tearing up.

"Now, now. It's not your fault, Shiro-san...we'll just try you girls' cooking another day." Yoichi said.

"Somewhere with fire extinguishers." Kimizuki added as the guys laughed except Shinoa and Mitsuba who was in distress.

"D-Don't worry about it, Shinoa-chan, Mitsuba-chan! I'll teach you two next time the basic fundaments!" Shiro encouraged the two as they nodded.

"But your cooking is really good, Shiro." Kimizuki remarked as he grab a bite of her omelet.

"Thank you very much. Sayuri-san taught me how to cook." she humbly said with a gentle smile.

"Oh, that's right...you were in the Lieutenant Colonel's squad." Yoichi said as he plopped an rice in his mouth and swallowed it.

Yuu chuckled, "then what's this all about? I don't like you guys keeping a secret from me. I feel left out."

Everyone turned to Shinoa who was drinking her coffee leisurely, then after some sips. She placed it down.

"There are two topics: one, that you were a test subject who almost killed me in the battlefield." Shinoa said as Yuu's eyes widened while gasping.

"Two, is Lieutenant Colonel Guren truly on our side?" she added.

"Guren on our side or not? What do you mean?" he asked, confused.

"There's possibility that he is only trying to use us, including you." Shinoa stated.

"Either he's trying to create a reason to fight with the army's upper members, or he has something bigger planned." Mitsuba added.

"That's news to me, too. Meaning, we'll possibly consider pulling away from Lieutenant Colonel?" Kimizuki stated seriously.

Shiro slapped her hands on the table as everyone turned to her, "w-wait just a moment, please!" she said.

"What is it, Shiro-chan?" Shinoa asked one of her troops.

"Guren-san isn't that kind of person, he's mysterious and secretive...but he's not like that!" she defended her superior openly.

"Oh, really? You think that he's that great? Don't you think that he's just using you?" Kimizuki huffed.

"T-That's..." she trailed off as she remembered the serial patterns of human experiments performed to her.

"H-He just did it...for Humanity's sake, I don't think that he's a bad guy." she answered as the pain was reminded to her once again, vividly.

Shinoa sighed, "that's one thing that I respect about you, Shiro-chan."

Shiro titled her head to the side, "pardon?"

"You don't judge anyone by how they run stuff, but instead you try to understand them even if its hard."

She lightly scratched her cheek and smiled. "I bet everyone wants to be understand by someone."

"Blood! It's blood..." the vampire ran up to attack to attack me, but halted when the chain on his neck restrained his movements.

"You're sick...Hiragi Kureto, is this an experiment for the Cursed Gears?" I asked the person leisurely sitting on top of the walls.

"Yeah. I thought there'd be more efficient way to turn vampires into demons. But, no sign of that at all." Kureto said as he jumped down from his special seat.

"I've heard that you did something to my former partner...are you trying to start a war with me?" I asked as every word was filled with venom.

"Oh? Do you think you'll be able to win against me?" he cooed as I clicked my tongue.

The other day, the incident of failed human experiments of demons reached me. It made my blood boiled when they've endangered that crybaby.

"Just cut to the chase already." I said as I was ticked off from the very sight of him. He smirked.

"Hyakuya Yuichiro, Saotome Yoichi, and Kimizuki Shinoa. Who are they?" he asked me seriously

"How did you create three black demon prospects?" he added.

"Luck. We were lucky to have three excellent—" he cuts me off. "Impossible. All black demon prospects are test subjects of human experiments, and even then, the success rate is very low."

Then he shrugged off, "well whatever, I'm just glad to find some excellent prospects. If you have good trial results, share it with me."

I sighed as I began to walk out of this pointless appointment, "last question, who is Yukimura Shiro to you?"

I stopped in my tracks as memories of those days when Shiro was still in our team...it was really fun.

"She's just a crybaby that can't be left alone." I answered, then he tossed me a letter as it contained his demands.

"If you say so, anways...just follow my orders and I'll show you a world where we turn vampires as livestocks." he answered as he walked away.

I unfold the letter as I read the message, until I felt both hands on mg shoulder. I felt chills run up to my spine.

"No, Guren. You're supposed to follow my orders. If you do, I'll make your wish come true."

"Shut up." I muttered as the demon of this blade smile at me.

"I'll even make that kid join your team again if you want...what was her name again? Oh—it's 'Shiro', wasn't it?"

"Stop messing with me, demon."

'That girl...she's still safe with those guys, isn't she?' I thought as I looked up to the boundless sky above.

"I hope you're alright, Shiro."
