Shida Reviews: Fate

Not the anime, but the entire franchise.

OverDress will probably be over by the time I finish this, isn't it.

Oh hi there, remember when I did reviews for things not Vanguard related? Yeah me neither, so let's do one for the first time by reviewing the entire Fate franchise so I can rant about some things I like and don't like about it.

Never got into the series? That's fine, you can still read this review and get some laughs thanks to my cheap komedi. In and out, twenty minute adventure.

The media has some background osts from Persona 5 so that we both can relax while going through this dumpster fire of a review, so do enjoy.

-What's the Fate series?-

The Fate series started as an eroge where a high schooler that wants to save everyone ever fights in a war that also has magic-using relevant people from story that get magic off getting their masters off because someone wrote that down and thought ''Yeah this is a good idea, it'll sell like hot cakes.'' and then it actually sold like hot cakes.

What first started with the visual novel eroge of ''Fate/Stay Night'' then evolved into something bigger and kept evolving past anyone's control. This is why specialized people cut weeds when they get too big.

It's split into three routes, those being Fate, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel, with the ladder being unlocked in the visual novel after you complete the one that comes before it.

In this review, I will start with Fate/Stay Night and go through the other properties until I get to Fate/Grand Order, one of the big meat and potatoes of this review and something that will take me a long time to review.

And yes, this review as more of a watch order than the actual Fate series.

Spekaing of that, where do you start with the Fate series?

-The Watch Order-

A big meme when it comes to Fate, besides every male historic figure being turned into a marketable anime girl, is that the watch order is a mess and no one knows where to start. But worry not, Daddy Shida has you covered and has the perfect watch order for Fate. Why do i say it's perfect? Because I'm the one saying it :wut:

Where do you start with Fate? The answer is...

Anywhere you want, really.

See every story in Fate is basically a tree branch, even the routes, despite being different takes on the same story, aren't in the same universe.

People assumed that the right order was Fate > UBW > Heaven's Feel because of how the visual novel works, but you can honestly start with whichever one you want and not watch the rest, which is what I wanted to do after they assinated Shirou's character in Heaven's Feel, but we'll get there when we get there.

Each route resolves around the same main event, that being the Fuyuki Holy Grail War, and presents different focus characters and a different character arc for the protagonist of the novel, Shirou Emiya.

You know, people die when they're killed, just because you're right doesn't mean you're correct, you celebrate your birthday in the year you were born, that guy.

Hell, if you want, you can even watch the spin-offs first. F/SN works best as an introduction to the general world and lore behind it.

And now that we arrived at that conclusion, let's actually go to the review part os F/SN.

-Fate/Stay Night-

The one shared trait of the three routes in F/SN is the main character, Shirou Emiya, dealing with the war with his servant Artoria and friends, and confronting his own ideals of wanting to become a hero of justice. You could say that Kotomine is the shared villain between the three routes but Heaven's Feel is a thing that exists.

Also Lancer dies enough times in all of them that he could sue the franchise because of personal damage.

-Fate-

The first route, Fate, is focused on Shirou and his servant Saber/Artoria Pendragon, a.k.a king Arthur who's a girl, a.k.a the thing everyone knows the franchise for besides the weird watch order.

Sadly, this is also the hardest route to get into because adaptation wise, it's anime is terrible and it never got done by the studio that picked up F/SN, that being ufotable. And with normies still putting Demon Slayer on a hype train that it doesn't deserve, I doubt they'll make the Fate route anime any time soon. They're not an anime dispensing machine like Mappa.

In this route, Shirou is just not confronted by the reality of how dumb his dream is and ends the route by keeping his goal of saving everyone that exists and to one day reunite with Artoria in Avalon. The main big bad guy here is Gilgamesh, who has his stupid looking armour and is still a bad character. This is also the one with the ''People die when they're killed.'' line.

Because of how poorly adapted this route got, there's not alot I can tell you from my personal experience and I really can't be bothered with making proper research because I'm not an actual reviewer. Call this route the Vanguard to my Kohdok, a.k.a something I review without making the least amount of research.

I have a personal way of describing each route, and the Fate is the ''Happy Route'', where Shirou chooses happiness instead of choosing the ways of the horny. Good going, Shirou.

-Unlimited Blade Works-

Arguably the best route and one of the other reasons the franchise is this well known, the UBW route is focused on Shirou, Rin Tohsaka of the Tohsaka mage family and her servant Archer, who is the best character in the route and the servant of focus.

Let's be honest, even people who don't know Fate probably hard of UBW. It's that massive.

In this route, Shirou's ideals are actually put in the forefront of the fight because of Archer, who, besides looking damn well in a red coat, shits on Shirou and his ideals faster than twitter nerds salt on FGO's comments whenever they don't get the servant they wanted out of the gacha.

This is because Archer is actually the Shirou who ended up being executed because of his dream of saving everyone and forged a contract with the world to become a servant who acts as a defense system for the world.

Archer and Shirou's fight is arguably one of the best moments of the franchise as a whole and one of the greatest scenes I ever watched in my life, like holy shit, I actually cried like a bitch when Last Stardust began playing, that was some powerful characterization.

Another big character of the route is Rin, who is forced to face the fact that she got way above her head with the whole war after taking more Ls than Tohya every evening. She also gets one of the best moments in the series, that being when Archer disappears and asks her to save him. Seeing Archer calling Rin by Tohsaka/what Shirou calls her by and then have his hair be styled like Shirou's really slapped hard.

The big villain of the route, and arguably a bigger threat than the loser we got at the end of the second season, was Caster/Medea. Honestly, she was the best villain of F/SN and she actually did stuff, unlike a certain blonde fuck we'll get to in a second.

Oh yeah, Gilgamesh is back, he shows up at the end, he tries to end the world, he gets fucking yeeted by Shirou and shot in the head by Archer, the end.

Honestly, what is there not to like about this route? It's just great and easily the peak of the series.

I love UBW, and not just because of me wanting Rin to do to me what J. K. Simmons did to the Flash clone in Invincible with her legs, but because ufotable made a godly adaptation with bangr visuals and good comedy. It also gave me my second favourite character of the series, that being Archer. We'll get to who the first one is a sec.

I also love the ending of Shirou's arc in this one. He accepts that there are people he can't save, so instead of trying so ahrd to save everyone, he'll save as many as he can. Now that is a what a true hero of justice is.

And then Heaven's Feel assassinated his character.

Oh yeah, the music, I almost forgot about that. Brave Shine was good, Last Stardust was godly, I don't remember the rest, next.

Oh right, my personal route description. Yeah this is the ''Horny Route'', just look at Rin and her thighs.

This is also the ''Just becase you're right doesn't mean you're correct.'' route.

-Heaven's Feel-

Heaven's Feel is... An acquired taste.

In all honestly, I really dislike Heaven's Feel for a multitude of reasons, but let's go over the good before we get to the bad.

I like that they care less about the war in this one, they at least knew people would be tired of the same war after two obligatory routes being focused on it. In this one, the story is more focused on what happened before and what lead to the current events.

You have the origins of the Holy Grail War, which isn't even a war but more of a Holy Grail Battle Royale, the actual Holy Grail War is what Apocrypha has but that's two titles ahead of time, you have the past behind the big three mage families of Tohsaka, Einzbern and Matou, and you even have the stuff that happened in the last war.

What lse is there that I liked... Huh I liked Ilya in this one, I guess.

Oh and the adaptation was also really good, godly animation.

Now for the negatives-

It's an awful adaptation. Anime movies are a chore to get through, they should have made this a series but they new people were probably not wanna stick for another twenty something episodes of Shirou yelling about being a hero of justice.

The focus girl in this route is Sakura Matou, the second kouhai I most dislike in this stupid franchise and the bane of my existence. The focused servant is Medusa, who finally gets to shine after getting utterly bodied in UBW by some teacher guy.

Sakura's an overbearing and boring character and because of her, Shirou's character gets assinated because he ends the route not wanting to protect people but wanting to protect Sakura.

Listen here, you asshats, you spent two routes explaining how Shirou's this hardheaded suicidal blockhead with a conviction that can't be shaken easily and all it took for him to become a white knight was just go ''Sakura sad, oh no''.

It also assassinated any character the other servants were for the sake of only being focused on Medusa and Saber Alter/Artoria are being eaten by a shadow tentacle monster and vomitted as a goth lolita knight.

See even UBW, who's sole focus servant wise was Caster and Archer, still managed to have some time for Berserker and give some minor spotlight to Assassin and make Lancer shine as one of the coolest characters in the series after Gilgamesh became the villain. But what did Heaven's Feel give us?

They killed Assassin and Caster in the first ten minutes, Saber and Archer died by the end of the first movie, Lancer died midway through (like usual), Gilgamesh became the devoured tag on nhentai on the second movie, a new Assassin appeared and was only relevant for good sound design and animation and then fucked off. Hell, Berserker was actually just a block of meat with legs and nothing else. I know that servants in his class are mindless people who are better at violence (that is until other titles of the series became a thing) but UBW made him ana ctual character because of his bond with Ilya- Do you get the point of how bad this is?

This is so bad that by the end of the route, Shirou fucking dies LMAO and gets his soul put into a puppet.

Oh well, at least the the final scene with the cheery blossoms was pretty.

Music wise, good.

Oh yeah, and Rin's thing in this one is that she's Sakura's big sister because their dad yeeted Sakura to the clearly insane family leader of the Matou in order to teach more stuff to Rin.

You know what's sad? Heaven's Feel so bad that the most interesting characters in it to me ended up being Shinji/the spineless coward who abused Sakura and Zouken, the other guy to abuse Sakura for throwing her into a pit of verms that made her horny. I shit you not, there's an entire scene in the second of movie wanking it to Shirou because of the bugs.

Those two actually got some characterization that I liked, that being Shinji not being a cunt and studying magic to be able to stand to his family's demands and Zouken seeing Justeeze, the Einzbern leader during his youth whom he loved and had to sacrifice for the sake of the grail, before he died.

Speaking of Shinji, may I just mention how brilliant Hiroshi Kamiya's voice work for Shinji is? This man alone made Shinji a good character, his range is insane. I love how he can go from ''I am humanity's strongest soldier, I can kill the protagonist'' to ''Sakura, I am requesting coochie again, Archer punched me Sakura''. Insane.

This route is bad and I see it as the ''Discord Mod Route''. Shirou takes the beardneck approach of dating the submissive girl, a.k.a what a Discord mod would do.

Fucking hell, I can finally move on.

But back to voice actors, if I may simp a bit more, Shirou's VA then went on to voicing Morikawa from Vanguard and Kirei's voice actor Jouji Nakata does one of the best works in the entire series. He gives so much life to the character to the point where Jouji Nakata is regarded as the priest VA and I hope he voices Pucci in the Stone Ocean anime.

-Fate/Hollow Ataraxia-

Oh right.

This is technically a sequel to F/SN but it honestly only exists because they mentioned Kotomine having a daughter and Avenger being a class.

Tl;dr, this visual novel is basically Groundhog Day only that an angry Shirou looking guy bangs Kotomine's hot nun daughter who only cares about money.

Is my audience even old enough to know what Groundhog Day was?

It's a time loop, the plot is that the holy grail war is stuck ina  time loop, moving on.

-Fate/Zero-

If the routes in F/SN are branches of a tree, then Zero's the bark out of which they grew from. Whether you want to watch Zero before to know what happened before Shirou's war or after to get some context on things said in the routes, then Zero's the anime for that. It's both the prologue and epilogue to F/SN and a great anime.

It's hard to say that Zero has a proper protagonist, but the overall main character of the show is Kiritsugu Emiya, a mage killer who got hired by the Einzbern to get them a dub in the holy grail war. And guess what, he basically banged an older looking Ilya called Iri and is Ilya's dad.

God, everything in Zero is great. It has a great cast of characters and shows the themes it wants to show perfectly, specially Kiritsugu's wish to save people.

This is also where we get some of the series stamples in the shape of Gilgamesh, who is still a bad character but an actually interesting villain in this one, and Kotomine, who's a great character.

And while not stamples of the series, it also introduces the best characters of the series in the shape of Waver, a spineless mage who can't do much and only got into the war out of hatred for his teacher, and Rider/Iskandar, the best character ever and my personal favourite character of Fate. You know, I made of Waver for not summoning a hot girl Rider at first, but by the end of Zero, I loved Iskandar to the point where I just deemed all other Riders in Fate anime as garbo. While I like Medusa alot, she is no Iskandar.

I could go on and on about Zero, but I'm a lazy guy and want to leave things vague enough to get you to at least watch Zero. Scatch what I said about UBW, this is my real favourite series in Fate.

Music wise, I don't remember any of the OPs and EDs. Oh well.

-Fate/Extra-

What I actually mean is Fate Stay Online: Unlimited Sword Art Works.

Ok look I dont like Extra and if you're someone I regularly talk to then you already know that.

I think Extra was a stupid attempt to keep the hype of F/SN going but tis' too convoluted for it's own good and only exists in the shape of video games so let's go through that first.

The overall plot of Extra is around Hakuno Kishinami, some guy or girl depending on what you chose, who's in a Holy Grail Battle Royale happening inside a super computer in the moon. I'm not kidding, this is real.

Along side him, besides some returning characters from F/SN that get treated poorly, are some new servants as the faces of Extra, those being the Saber Nero Claudius, a.k.a very cute and thick roman emperor umu, and the Caster Tamamo-no-Mae, a.k.a the reason I like fox girls and their fluffy tails. Remember to pat your fluffy tails on the daily, fellas.

Extra's biggest enemy is accessibility.

The first game, Fate/Extra, is a PSP game from 2010, that you can play with an emulator, but that's too bland as a game and stupidly boring. It's a basic ass RPG with Pokemon-like combat but with a rock-paper-scissors combat style where the gym leaders severely outrank you no matter what you try to do, making playing the game through an pain in the ass.

The second, Fate/Extra CCC is only out is japanese, which makes it even harder to get into. Thankfully, some madlads made an english patch for the female route if you want to play it yourself. This route introduces another stupid stample of the franchise, that being the horny world eating nun Kiara. On the good side, it introduces Hans, a fantastic character.

The third game is Fate/Extella, a super generic hack and slash game whose good aspects are having Scathach in a game that isn't FGO.

Thankfully, they're rebooting the first game in a modern version.

Extra also spawned an anime adaptation called Last Encore, who suffers from Domestic Girlfriend syndrome, a.k.a it's a terrible anime that wastes good music. The OP and ED are amazing but the anime is bad, please don't watch it.

-Fate/Apocrypha-

Apocrypha is an actual side story that takes place in an universe where, I shit you not, the Third Reich steals the Holy Grail in the middle of WW2 and then the romanian guy who made them steal it disappears with it because his bloodline was about to leave the magic world.

It started as a light novel that got a fairly decent anime adaptation that you can watch if you want to and oh yeah this has an actual holy grail war, not a battle royale.

In this thing they call a Greater Holy Grail War, there's double the servants and actual sides at war.

And who's the protagonist?

Some homonculus that got Junichi Suwabe's heart and then proceed to NTR all the Jeanne simps.

While Apoc is great by its own means, it sadly has really boring villains in the shape of Semiramis and Amakusa, who just wants to grail to save the world like the good christian boy he is.

Some other characters include Mordred, the spunky son of Artoria who is actually a girl (go figure), Kairi Sisigou, her badass master who uses a gun and isn't as depressing as Kiritsugu, Karna, a Lancer that doesn't kill himself surprisingly, Aviceborn, the golem bro, Fran, a Berserker that can is an actual character (thus proving that Heaven's Feel did a shit work again), and Atalante, the first of many good Hayamin-voiced servants and a cat girl onee-san who loses her shit at the thought of someone saying ''Fuck 'em kids''.

Music wise, the anime has great character themes and the first opening, Eiyuu Unmei no Uta done by EGOIST, is a banger so great that it's one of my favourite openings in general.

It also has stellar fight animation and soung design at the end of the series, which is a really good way to go out with a bang.

Let's see, I made a bad and cheap plot summary, I talked about some characters, music, animation, I lynched on Semiramis and Amakusa as bad villains, what am I forgetting of... Oh yeah.

I couldn't find one of Astolfo with a Monster can that didn't include his monster cock out, I'm sorry.

The next titles are things I didn't get into, so I'm about to speedrun past them.

-Fate/Prototype-

The original F/SN idea but where the MC is a cute girl and Arthur had a dick, because he was a guy in this universe and not because Merlin went ''kaboom and kablick, your pussy is now a D I C K''

-Fate/Strange Fake-

Another spin off in the shape of a light novelw here there is true war and a fake war and the place where Gil's clay bay is introduce. It's not gay if it's clay.

-Fate/KOHA-ACE-

A side story that first started as a comedy gag where the MC is taken to the WW2 and fights in a holy grail happening in Japan during that time. Her servant is Saberface number a thousand Okita Souji, Nobunaga is an adorable war raging and religion burning loli, Medusa is a smoking hot general who has Assassin as a servant.

It got adapted into a more serious manga called Fate/type Redline and is usually the focus of the Gudaguda events in FGO, arguably one of the best type of events in the game.

-Fate/Requiem-

A world where servants exist like Pokemon and everyone has one. The only thing I can be bother to remember about it a hot dinosaur lady still better than Zero Two.

And other title I forgot gets to be shafted and forgotten. Now to other meat and potatoes.

-Fate/Grand Order-

Be real with me. You know what FGO is. It's the gacha game all your friends salt about because it has shit rates.

Since I'm not reviewing FGO for the gameplay, I'll make it quick: the gameplay has a fun RPG tone to it and making meme runs with big numbers is always great. You know the gacha, I know the gacha, the gacha is bad and makes people worse people. The only negatives of the gameplay are things I'll get into later on.

FGO's story is about this organization called Chaldea, who basically time travels with the soul to fix the timeline and protect the world by ending these things called singularities, at least during the first arc and midway arc after it, and some events during the game.

While the premise should sound fun enough, the story sadly suffers from MHA syndrome, a.k.a the main hero and heroine are terribly boring characters and overshadowed by the side characters.

The main character, Ritsuka Fujimaru, girl or guy depending on your choice, is a self insert that lacks any personality. Any lines they get during the game are the most generic and boring hero person lines ever and you could cut them out and nothing would change. They try to give male Ritsuka some personality in the anime, but it's not enough. hey have more personality in the Learning with Manga FGO side series, but that's a meme show where male Ritsuka is an Astolfo simp and female Ritsuka is more depraved than the entire fanbase.

The heorine is Mash Kyrielight, your precious kouhai who just wants to protect you. She was created in Chaldea for the sake of being a demi-servant and is with you for all your adventures.

And she's also the worst fucking character in this game. The game tries really hard to force this bond between you and Mash but they do it terribly. Spoiler alert, she dies at the end of the first arc and you get into a fight fight with the big villain, but at that point I was fighting more because Roman was gone than Mash because she's that bad.

I don't like the submissive kouhai characters but I give Sakura the benefit of the doubt because she has an entire route dedicated to her, best Mash gets is some small scenes across the main story.

Mash, as a character, works best as a character that bounces off other people, because the one time she has ana rc of her own, without anyone else being included, she becomes a major gameplay downgrade during the second arc.

You see, Mash's class is Shielder, and she's basically a great defense option during the first arc and the midway arc of the game, but during the second arc, the servant inside her peaces out so she tries to become an offensive servant, as a show of she doing things for herself for the first time ever, but does it terribly. Not only do her defensive strats go down, but her offensive strats suck because of her low attack numbers. The worst part of it all is that you're forced to use this Mash during the second arc and some events, which is a major buzzkill.

But that doesn't mean that Mash is that bad. She has some character moments across the story that I like, and I will get there when I go over the singularities.

Oh right, the main side characters for the first arc are Da Vinci, who I want to step on me, and Roman, the best bromance since ever.

-Arc I: Oberserver on the Timeless Temple-

The first arc of FGO is simple. The entire world outside Chaldea is incinerated, yeeted from history, through the power of seven holy grails planted across history by King Solomon, who seeks to destory humanity because of their bad aspects. This leads Ritsuka and Mash to go on adventures through the seven singularities and undo them to save humanity.

Since this is the start of the game and the writing team didn't know what the fuck they were doing, the writing for some of the early stuff is really bad and really bland, and they introduce characters that they end up slapping onto other singularities to make them better.

-Singularity F - Flame Contaminated City: Fuyuki-

At the start of the story you have Ritsuka, a new guy in Chaldea who passes out and is woken up by the game's mascot Fou and Mash and then sent on his way to a power point presentation about the big first mission of Chaldea to a place called Singularity F, the biggest and abddest singularity at the moments. You sleep in, best girl Olga Marie scolds you and tells you to fuck off.

Oh yeah then the place blows up, Mash gets SHIIIIIIIIIIZAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and you tow get sent to the Singularity, which is right in the middle of a war that has left Fuyuki in flames.

This is the tutorial, so you rbeeze through mobs, find Olga Marie, meet Cu Caster, get Mash's Noble Phantasm and ge ton your way to fight the big boss of the chapter, that being Saber Alter.

After you win, it's revealed that Olga's BFF Lev is actually bad, shocker, and then he makes an exposition dump on the world being and yeets Olga Marie into a fire ball, making Roman the acting leader of Chaldea, and you the main and only master out there because everyon else fucking died or got sent into ice to sleep.

This is also where the ''Use old characters later to make them good characters'' starts, becaise Saber Alter sucks in here but gets slapped onto a better arc later on.

-Hundred Years' War of the Evil Dragons: Orleans-

The first chapter, being one of the three that came with the game on release, takes you to France, right in the middle of the Hundred Years War, and takes focus on a character msot people know by now, that being Jeanne.

A bad Jeanne that then becomes the game's cash cow got created by the wish of evil Jeanne simp Gilles and wrecks war on the baguettes with evil dragons, go figure.

While the arc is fine and rememberable, it's an early game arc so it's really fucking bad. It introduces some new servants but they're all bad.

It also introduces Elizabeth, who comes from CCC, and has a thing for showing up everywhere in this damn game to the point where she has like three Halloween events dedicated to shit being palced on top of her castle.

Jalter joins the ''to be fixed later'' club.

-Eternal Madness Empire: Septem-

Septem does the same thing as Orleans as has Nero as the character most people know.

It's the second chapter and the most forgetable one in my opinion.

What even happened in it...

Oh yeah, Nero was at war with some other roman folks like Caeser and Caligula and Romulus, but you show up and save the day. Yatta desu ne.

The best thing this chapter does is introduce Boudica, one of my personal favourite servants, and All Muscle, a bad character servant that becomes the best character in a later chapter.

-Sealed Ends of the Four Seas: Okeanos-

The third chapter takes place in the sea, where you join Francis Drake and her crew to get the grail that she already owns.

While not the best chapter, Okeanos manages to fix Francis Drake as a character after Extra ruined her and introduces some of the best character in FGO, like Backbeard, a mega meme weeb machine like the players of this game, and Jason, who despite starting as a major spineless asshat like Shinji, shines in a later arc.

What am I forgeting- OH YEHA IT ALSO INTRODUCES BEST BOY INTO THIS GAME!

Asterios is my favourite servant and my precious son and I love him alot. Unless the game is a bitch and forces a weird team set up on me, I make sure to always have him on my party. He's bond 11 right now and on his way to bond 12 and already has a grail on it, I'll be trying to get him to level 100 in the near future. I love him so much, he even got the final punch on Goetia.

-The Death World in the City of Demonic Fog: London-

The fourth chapter takes you to Londo, where you have the most boring time ever in a city of fog.

Ok look this chapter is bad, I rate it even lower than Septem because at least I don't have anything to hate in Septem.

In this chapter, a younger Zouken uses a fog machine to summon Tesla. Tesla's the supposed big villain of this chapter.

But then an alter of a thick Artoria shows up for no reason, is an easy mid boss fight and adds nothing to plot and then fucks off right after dying, this is why I don't like Lartoria Alter, she's an useless character who never gets redeemed.

Oh yeah, the entire brit gang is here but they never make an ''innit'' joke, smh.

It's also revealed that Solomon is the one trying to burn the world.

-North American Myth War: E Pluribus Unum-

America is where the good writing starts and my favourite chapter out of the first arc.

It's such a goofy parody of a western and the characters are all amazing, I love it.

You got big furry Edison, you got gilf Helena, you got Medb, you got big angry dino boyfriend Cu Alter, among other characters that are all fun.

I was scared about this arc because of it's size, but it honestly made up for it with it's brilliant comedy and good cast.

-Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot-

You thought it'd be the better man and not make a cheap Jojoke but you forgot that it was I, really lazy Shida.

Ok look, the fanbase really overhyped Camelot's spike in difficulty. They say it's super ahrd but it really isn't and I got it done in less than a week by Cu Alter-ing my way through the white knights.

Camelot has actually good writing and a cast of good or fairly decent character. It's also where Mash shines the most because the servant inside her is Lancelot's son so she has- Oh goddammit, this further proves my point of she being best when bouncing off other characters.

In this chapter, you go to Jerusalem in a crusade and meet Mamoru Miyano, who is a 3000 year old chad with Excalibur as an arm, among other great characters such as Ozymandias, voiced by Takehito Koyasu, Nitocris, best bunny girl, and Sanzang, the monk that I want to step on me.

Your enemy is the knight sof the roudn table, who have a special gimmick in their fights and made people think that this chapter was hard when in reality it only presents a slight challenge to players.

In this chapter, the world almost ends. which starts a trend of the world almost ending whenever you do something.

It also got a questionable movie adaptation in the shape of two movies, but the FGO anime stuff is bad because the character design thr studio does is terrible for the faces. They all look the damn same and lacks noses, an oversized line and a small shadow to the right is not a nose. It also cut off two characters that were important to the story, Touta and Hundred Faces, which dampers the story because of crucial Touta was at a very important point of the story.

-Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia-

The final chapter before the big final fight is the most popular one because it just a fanservice chapter.

You got Gilgamesh at his best as an overworked king who actually cares for his people and actually falls sleep and wakes up in the underworld because of sleep deprivation, you got not one but two Rinfaces whose entire budget got dedicated to their asses than to the faces of the characters, you even got Taiga and Medusa, one as a yakuza on a onezie and one as both a big snek momma and a cute and precious loli.

Everyone loves Babylonia, and so do I. I really love its slice of life, and when the story picks up, it really fucking picks up. The end of the chapter was honestly hard because of how the Lammus were set.

It also does something that I complained about right. Instead of forcing a bond between you and Ereshkigal the same way it did with Mash, the bond you develop with Ereshkigal feels natural and well deserved.

But you know what this chapter also does?

It makes All Muscle- I mean Leonidas, a character ruined in Septem, the best character of the entire chapter. Truly, the work of a good writing team. His sacrifice and last words were life changing.

But you don't care about that, you care about Hayamin voiced a cute racoon girl who's actually the younger self of a Heian Period war lord, aren't you? Of course you are.

Since I'm running low on image space for the chapter, I'm gonna do a speedrun.

-Grand Temple of Time - Salomon-

You meet with old servants from the seven singularities and goa round killing tentacle monsters until you get into a megalo box fight with Goetia. It ends with you and Mash watching the sun rise in a world that isn't spicier than Domestic Girlfriend.

-Epic of Remnant-

Epic of Remnant is a small four chapter arc placed between the end of arc one and the start of arc two and is one of my favourite parts of this game because I had a good time on the first and fourth chapter of the arc.

In it, you go through three pseudo-singularities chasing after tentacle monsters than ran away, and then get stuck in a pseudo-world created by a magic using guy who's lasta scension art is him naked on a table.

The actual fourth pseudo-singularity, which is actually the third, is stuck in the CCC collab event. Tl;dr Kiara tries to eat the world again, the story is decent, the music is banger and the gameplay is fun.

-Quarantined Territory of Malice: Shinjuku-

The first pseudo-singularity is amazing and is what made me like Shinjuku so much. It's a story of gang wars mixed with mystery elements and is where Saber Alter and Jalter get fixed as character and get some of the best costumes in the games.

It also introduces a personal favourite of mine, that being Moriarty. I really like the extravagant plan he made and how he was controlling everything from the shadows, even when it seemed like it was only his evil side doing it.

It also introduces a future side cast stample in the form of Sherlock, who is fine as character.

-Subterranean World of Folklore: Agartha-

Agartha is bad.

-The Stage of Blood Rivers and Corpse Mountains: Shimosa-

Shimosa's the weird out of the bunch I mentioned. In it, you get taken to the Shimosa province and meet with the servant I want to get to NTR someone, Musashi.

It's a really weird chapter in a sense that, while it has a good premise and a fun story, it has the dumbest gameplay I ever saw in my life for forcing Musashi to be in your party, in one of the front slots.

But fuck that, it introduces Muramasa and I love that guy. You go gramps, keep cutting those fuckers down.

-The Forbbiden Advent Garden: Salem-

My second favourite chapter of EoR and probably Cookie's favourite because it's where Abigail is introduced.

While the story is short, it always had me at the edge of my seat and wanting to play more, even when I had other shit to do.

The side characters are great and the story is fantastic, one of the best in FGO in my opinion.

But when there's good, there's bad, so let's move on to the second arc, which I don't like alot.

-Cosmos in the Lostbelt-

So in this arc, Chaldea gets bought by the son of an Apoc character, russian Kirei shows up and makes a Da Vinci donut, the A Team of masters returns as villains and do the ''I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that'' me on the fact that Ritsuak saved the world a shit ton of times and that msot servants like them and then fuck off to their own pockets in space :wut:

Yes, I don't like the Lostbelts alot.

Also only three are out in english so I'm gonna only review those.

-Permafrost Empire, Anastasia - The Grand Duchess of the Beast Nation-

You know what I don't like about this lostbelt?

That the only choices for Anastasia are either Ritsuka or Kadoc. Both of those useless pricks are terrible, let the poor russian girl get a better man.

So, I lost my shit laughing when the first destinaiton of this arc was a furry Russia. It's such a dumb concept that ends up actually working.

The first lostbelt works as a fine introduction to the arc, but it tries/more like forces you into having pity of Kadoc, and honestly, the only thign I feel towards him is getting Anastasia just to cuck him. He's a dumb asshat who adds nothing to the story.

The side characters on this lostbelt, however, are really great, specially Aciveborn and Salieri.

Ok Im tired of my least favourite lostbelt now, let's move on to my favourite.

-Eternal Frozen Fire Century, Gotterdammerung - The Good Fellow of Everlasting Flame-

They went haywire with the naming for this.

Look there were too many images are not enough image space, bare with me

Lostbelt 2 is the best lostbelt, you got to Scandinavia after Ragnarok fails to kill the gods and end up in a land rulled over by a milf Scathach, which is honestly the best plot anyone could have asked for.

Along the way you meet the best character in the lostbelts as a whole, that being Napoleon, the giant cannon swinging guy who isn't short and has a thing for the A Team master Ophelia, who dies after trying to use her Sharingan on a fire giant that was hiding inside Kaiba.

I'm tired, so I'm going to the third and final lostbelt for a while now.

-The Synchronized Intellect Nation, S I N - The Crimson Beauty Under the Moon-

In this one, you got China after eating cake.

Yeah, that's a reason.

In this lostbelt, you're up against a hot A Team master who is actually a super old vampire who has a thing for a her husband who is a giant horse man mecha and Lelouch Reine, who gets servants from his giant mountain freezer.

Good chapter, Mordred is here, Spartacus is fantastic, Red Hare is hilarious, I'm tired, goodbye.

Also all the music in FGO slaps.

And that was the review of the entire Fate franchise. Did I waste my time on this? Yes. Did I fail to make a meaningful review? Also yes.

Next up I'm gonna either review Overdress or Zyriot War, whichever one ends first. I wills till find a way to bully Yukina anyway.

My name is Shida, I'm tired, if you made it to the end GG, goodbye now.
