Prologue

Camelot knights rode back to the palace, escorting a young girl who appeared to be no older than ten, found unconscious in the woods, taking her to Gaius the Courts physician for examination. News of the new arrival made way to Uther, who rushed to see who or what was now in his castle.

"Father." A young Arthur said the moment he saw his father walk through the door.

"This was found with the girl, Sire." Gaius said as he handed Uther a ring on a chain.

"The Morningstar crest." Uther stated as he looked at the ring. Etched into the ring was a crown that sat above a star and a large M in the middle of the star that was engulfed in flames as well.

"It is indeed, sire." Gaius nodded

Uther looked at the girl who was laying on a bed, moving over to her, studying the features of the young girl. "She's the splitting image of Margalinde."

"Who's Margalinde?"Arthur asked looking at his father confused.

"An old friend." Uther said before standing up straight. "Make sure she gets all the care that you can provide and place her in the chambers next to Arthur's." He instructed Gaius.

"Right away, sire." Gaius spoke before turning back to examine the young girl.

Uther made his way out of the room, walking down the hall slowly. Lost in his thoughts, he didn't hear footsteps behind him.

"Father?!" Arthur called after his father following him. "Father?" He called out one last time before placing his hand on Uther's shoulder, stopping him and breaking him away from his thoughts.

"Yes, Arthur?" Uther asked turning to look at his son.

"What is going on? How do you know that girl?" Arthur questioned his father, his eyes fixed on Uther.

"I do not know that girl, she just looks like an old friend that's all." Uther sighed.

"Margalinde." Arthur said quietly looking at Uther.

"Margalinde was a great friend of your mothers. A friend to me as well." Uther started. "You shall learn the rest another time." Uther told Arthur before walking off leaving the young prince alone in the hall.

Arthur looked down the long bellowing hall that his father had just disappeared from or venture into Gauis' chambers to assist with their new guest.

Once the decision was made, Arthur made his way over to the door, standing out in the hall right outside where Gauis stood. "Can I help?" The Prince asked taking a step towards the door.

"Of course sire." Gauis smiled over at the young Prince as he raised his arm and signaled him to come into the room.

Arthur slowly made his way into the room and soon over to the bed that the girl was on. He took in her features. Long dark brown almost black hair that full of leaves and twigs. And fair porcelain like skin.

"Who are the Morningstars?" Arthur asked looking over at the older man.

"An old and powerful family whose kingdom lies very far south." Gauis told the Prince.

"If it is that far, then why is the girl here?" Arthur asked looking at the girl who was asleep on the bed.

"When she wakes, we shall know the answer to that." Gauis said softly.

Finally done. I know that it is short but I figured that a short opening would hold everyone over until an actual chapter comes. How y'all love it.
