Chapter 10: Takanori Yuuto's Soliloquy
I lied down in bed, closing my eyes. My body was exhausted, but my mind was still racing. I was kept awake by swirling thoughts in my head.
It was clear that moving forward, I had three main goals. The goal that I must achieve as soon as possible is becoming leader of E Class, which means I have to face Matsushita and Sakigamiya head-on.
It was going to be a difficult battle, as I was going up against the two most influential people of our class. They had all the support on their side, and one wrong move would tarnish my reputation within the class.
I need to manoeuvre in a tricky way. There were two ways to go about claiming leadership. I could try and persuade the two, or I could take it from them by force.
Due to the hint Mikazuchi-sensei gave me about "thinking less tangibly", I had a vague idea on how I could take these two down.
My second goal is beating Kaido. Even though I dislike him, Mikazuchi-sensei is a valuable asset to have on my side. Since I've made a deal with him, I'll see through with it. If he is my mentor, then I'll do the tasks he gives me, and I'll listen to his advice carefully.
After all, he knows more about the school system than I do. While Aunt Rina advised me to not figure out how the system works, a deeper understanding than what we already know would be a huge advantage in the long term.
Just by knowing what can increase or decrease class points can help exponentially, especially since I need to climb E Class from an embarrassing 0 class points to well-over A Class's staggering 950 class points.
My final goal, which is probably the least important, is finding out who X is. I'm not going to let myself be manipulated by a coward who won't show his face.
As he's using Kuwahara as a mediatory between us, my best bet is getting on good terms with Kuwahara and slowly getting information regarding X from him, until I have enough puzzle pieces to discern who he is. However, I do have enough information to narrow down my search.
I believe X is a 3rd Year E Class students, for two reasons.
Firstly, Kuwahara is a 3rd Year. This is important because it's most likely another 3rd Year who is using him. I doubt he'd be willing to do this sleazy dirty work for a 2nd Year.
Secondly, while I originally thought it was someone from A Class, the information I received from Kaido about there being 72 E Class students in 3rd Year changed my mind. Since E Class is the most densely populated class, the chance of X being in it is higher. Not to mention, he's on good relations with Kuwahara, who is also an E Class student.
I'm going to have to investigate the 3rd Year E Class and get to the bottom of this. Considering Matsushita and Kuwahara live together, and I need to take down Matsushita from his leader position, I may be able to do both goals sooner than expected.
But for now, X's identity can be put on the back of my mind. Unless he tries manipulating me again, like when he slipped that letter he under the door of my room, then I don't have a reason to go after him immediately.
Once I achieve leadership and beat Kaido, all that's left to do is start working E Class way up the ranks.
Our first enemy is D Class. Since D Class is sitting at a measly 120 class points right now, I think that we can overtake them in the second semester by the soonest. But by the end of this year, I swear this class will get promoted.
However, moving up was impossible under our current circumstances. Our class had no cohesion whatsoever. The students we had really were the failures of this school.
We had people like Yamaguchi, who'd rather play delinquent and bully his fellow classmates for the fun of it. Then, there were people with serious personality issues, like Yukimura and his volatile anger.
The number of actually good people in our class were few and far between. A few notable names like Matsushita, Sakigamiya and Ayano came to my head, but reaching out to any of them was just too difficult.
Matsushita and Sakigamiya were going to become my enemies, and Ayano was a man who kept to himself.
Rather, if I am to believe what Hiden-sensei says, then at least one of us has the ability to surpass A Class. This is good, because this changes my strategy drastically. Whoever this person is, I need to get them on my side as soon as possible if we want any chance of reaching the top.
Right now, I could only rely on Yukina. How was I going to control this pack of failures? Even if our class was cohesive, the classes above us were just too much stronger. What unique ability do we have that we can capitalise on, and that no one else can, I wondered.
D Class, despite having it's own internal fights, somehow managed to become the most united class in our year. Their leader was Zyriot, a foreign exchange student. Even though they had their fair share of delinquents, he somehow managed to bring everyone together.
The strategy to beat this class was to shatter their unity. A variety of ways can be used to break the bonds formed between classmates and send the entire class to the ground. Taking advantage of that defenceless state to surpass D Class would be crucial.
However, I didn't have the means to take advantage of such a situation just yet. Patience for the perfect moment to strike will be necessary.
If we could somehow beat D Class, then we'd have to face C Class next.
I don't have much information regarding C Class, but Suzune had told me a lot about them when I asked her in DM. Generally, C Class had no cohesion, just like us. Since they were the most average class, no one really fit the leader role, so Suzune took charge, along with her classmate Ikeda.
The two of them are temporary leaders that offered general guidance. Suzune would make decisions for the class, while Ikeda would sort out any disputes among them. Even though it wasn't the most efficient way of doing things, C Class was growing little by little.
If Suzune takes leadership fully, then C Class could become a very scary class to be reckoned with. The best opportunity to take them down is while they're in the early stages of development, but E Class can't take advantage of that, since D Class is standing in our way.
However, if Zyriot can identify this, then his D Class would have a very easy time crushing C Class. If C Class gets demoted to D Class, then it'd also benefit E Class in a twisted way. After all, C Class and E Class were very similar to one another.
Past C Class, there was B Class and A Class. I didn't know much regarding these two classes, but speaking to their students and observing them from afar, I came to a few conclusions on how to beat them.
Thankfully, talking to Ichinose opened my eyes on B Class' situation. Now that I know the class is being divided when it comes to the opinion of what they should do going forward, it means this eliminates B Class as a threat since they're quite the lost class.
Ichinose is taking a more defensive strategy, waiting to find a crack in A Class's defence and to attack from there. Her reasons are justified, since C Class has no chance of touching B Class in their current state, and they're very close to reaching A Class regardless.
It would just take one misstep from A Class to promote B Class to A Class. As a class, B Class was strong. However, I had already found out about their hidden weakness: the disputes within the class.
While she did bring up the idea of B Class and E Class becoming allies, I'm not interested in that. Becoming friendly with other classes will be a hindrance when it comes to crushing them to move up the ranks.
Rather, I would only accept this offer to let me interject myself into B Class's internal politics. Fanning the flames and keeping the disputes alive up until the very moment I need to take B Class down would be necessary if I want to use this weakness to the fullest.
If B Class sorts themselves out, then there's no doubt in my mind they'll be our biggest hurdle to reach A Class.
Finally, there was E Class's main enemy. A Class.
A Class was lead by a man apparently called Ryouta. I've seen every other leader except him so far. Considering A Class is a class for the best students, if he's the one who leads them, then it's safe to assume he's the best 1st Year out of all 125 of us.
To defeat A Class is tricky, since I know so little about them. But there are three key things that I can do that will bring us closer to victory.
I need to identify a weakness. I need to use the element of surprise. I need to catch Ryouta off-guard.
A frontal attack won't work against A Class. I need to be cunning, audacious and brutal in my strategy. To take down the strongest, I need to use my own strongest. Against A Class, I need to play all the cards that I'll accumulate overtime.
After I defeat A Class, I'll kill the King. I'll pull out all the stops to publicly crush that man known as Kishou Arashi. I'll engrave my forsaken name into the history books by force.
I'm going to destroy this school, working my way from the bottom to the top.
That includes you, Headmaster Satsubatsu Kirigaya.
