#41: Yuichiro's Legend

It was the fifth day of summer break in Tokyo, and large crowds of peope all came together in the same place, an airport, as if awaiting for the arrival of someone special. The masses overtook the sidewalk around the airport and across it, and the only thing that blocked them from filling the roads were barriers set by the Ryuzaki & Co. company.

"Sheesh, I didn't knew people were that into these three.... Dammit, why did I have to come during the time my girl is finaly in the same city as me?!" Inu, who was standing near a car parked right across the front entrance of the airport, grumbled, burrying his face into his hands.

Maverick stood by side, patting him on the back with understandable nods. "I feel you. My daughter is finally back and I should be showering her with paternal love, not standing as the pick up driver for some team Ryuzaki invited to promote the damn format he wasted the RIVS money advertising."

"You win some Asia circuits and then you're the shit. How come we never got to go and try to go pro? I have the skills to be a pro fighter, specially now that I can play all my old Blademaster support cards!"

"Life is an unfair bitch, Ikurino." Maverick crossed his arms and nodded

"I get what you were going for but the 'rino' but you could have at least gotten the 'N' right..." Inu sighed and shook his head.

Suddenly, the crowd began yelling eagerly and move around, opening a passage from the front entrance of the airport to the car where Maverick and Inu stood, and through that entrance, three figures exited the building.

The first was a girl with a voluptuous figure, with long crimson hair that reached her waist, tied into two pigtails by a pair of black ribbons, and pinkish eyes. Her clothes resembled a mix of a school uniform and a white sailor outfit, with a black collar and black cuffs with horizontal stripes, aswell as an orange tied that hanged off her collar, a black skirt with a single white stripe around it, stockings that reached the mid part of her thighs and marron shoes. Her looks left both younger and older women jealous, and no one would guess her to be any older than twenty because of the beauty she showed, but in reality, she was already twenty seven. Her name was Nanami Suzumiya, a pro Vanguard fighter who made her debut in the team side of the professional scene alongside her two teammates nearly ten years ago. However, there was an ugly side to her fame, and that was that she dropped out of high school to become a professional fighter.

"Bleh... The perverts are all here..." Nanami muttered, looking away from a band of male fans waving flags with name and face, aswell as pages of various interviews and photoshoots she had done in the past years. "One filthy pervert is enough..."

The second figure to leave the building was a man with a tall and muscular build, so muscular in fact that he could be considered a next to kin to the likes of Maverick. He had brown spiky hair and brown eyes, aswell as thick eyebrows. Clothe wise, he has a nearly absolute contrast to Nanami's fashionable presentation. He had some blue cargo pants on, flip flops and on his feet, and on his upper body, a very light brown poncho, so light that it could be confused with actual deer skin, and nothing else. His poncho was tied to his body by a small rope around his waist, which also served as a belt. Though without a doubt, his most noticeable feature was the pair of marks in his face, marks of reckless that gained him his nickname. His name was Makoto Kowasu, age twenty nine, most known by his nickname of 'Bulldozer Dobe', or just Dobe for short, something that he got from his habit of charging at things without a care in a world. Some rumoured that he was able to break through trees and stones while running, others that he'd be able to make a hole through a car if he was running, but nothing was confirmed. Like Nanami, he had made his professional debut nearly ten years ago, on the same team as her, but like her, he also had an ugly side to his fame, that being that he barelly graduated from high school and failed all college entrance exams.

"Yo! Thanks for the support, guys!" Dobe waved with both arms and a giant smile at those who cheered for him, mostly fellow men of muscle and even some friends from his high school days. "We couldn't clutch it this time but we'll make it next year for sure!"

The third and final figure to leave the airport building was a man, but much slimmer when compared to Dobe. He also had brown hair, but it was much longer than Dobe's and it was all swept back with the exception of a single strand, and brown eyes. Despite not having a full on beard, he had some hair under his chin. When it came down to clothing, he were a normal black shirt and white pants with brown shoes. He held a suitcase over his shoulder with his right arm, which revealed a rubber band around his wrist, and had sunglasses of his face. Upon arriving outside, he got out a cigar from his pocket and placed it on his mouth, which he quickly lighted up with the first lighter he found on his pockets. Letting out a sigh filled with smoke, he took off his sunglasses.

"I go away from one circuit and you manage to become King, enter a fancy shmancy event and then fuck off to New York to fight some cult of anti-Royalists." He chuckled, tossing his sunglasses at the crowd, which loudly fought for them.

His name was Yuichiro Kanesada, also of age twenty nine, and the final member of Nanami and Dobe's team. But very much like them, his fame also had a dark side, that being that he was a college dropout.

"Those three share this very specific detail that somehow their fans love." Maverick said as he saw the trio. "The only thing they're good at is Vanguard... Because they all bombed back on their academic days!"

"That explains their name..." Inu said. "Team Dropout."

(Opening)

On the other side of the city, all the way deep into a resudential area, at the time same as Team Dropout made their appearance on the airport, a young boy, no older than twelve, with light brown hair and amber eyes, in a plain red shirt and light green shorts, knocked on the front door of the Sawada residence, calling out the same name repeatedly.

"Miyuki! Miyuki, it's me! Miyuki! Mi! Yu! Ki!"

The boy sighed and gave up on the knocking, taking a seat in the small stone steps that lead to the door. He placed his head on his hands and let out another sigh, this time heavier.

"Can't that guy just wake up at a normal time like the rest of the kids his age? It's like ten in the morning, we're going to waste a perfectly good morning if he keeps sleeping in!" The boy grumbled.

But was this other boy that was being called out? Who was Miyuki? Simply put, he was no one, because no one named Miyuki actually lived there. However, who lived there was Izuru Sawada, nicknamed Miyuki by some friends, and sometimes called as 'That one black haired kid from that show about kids being cattle' by others.

On the second floor of the Sawada residence, Izuru laid on his bed with his hands behind his head, staring at the ceiling with a flat look in his eyes that was occasionally covered by his hair, which swayed because of the small breeze that entered his room through an open window. After sighing, he sat up.

"I'm coming, I'm coming..."

When it came to the Sawada siblings, Ryuuga and Sawada, each of them inherited something from their parents. In Ryuuga's case, he got their father Shouto's dark red hair and their mother Yu's bright eyes, and on the other hand, Izuru inherited their father's dark eyes and mother's brown hair. However, there was something else. From Yu's side of the family, all had brown hair that became darker overtime, sometimes at a young age, sometimes during a short period of time before the hair began to turn grey from age, and it could sometimes become so dark that it could hardly be told apart from black. In Izuru's case, that change began to happen two months ago and by now, people could hardly tell it was actually just dark brown.

Now dressed in a white shirt with it's top button undone, and sticking out of his grey shorts, Izuru looked at the mirror in his room, taking more attention to his hair, which had taken a more spiky form and grown more than he was expecting, covering most of the left side of his face, hence how some classmates compared him to this one boy from a series about children being raised in special orphanages as cattle to be consumed by demons.

Izuru approached his desk, picking up a paper sheet that had been given at school before the start of summer vacation. It was a survey regarding what the student wanted to do in the future, be it after graduating from middle school or after high school. Unlike his classmates, who wrote some basic things like becoming an astronaunt or a doctor, and some others whod reamed of becoming professional Vanguard fighters, Izuru lacked an answer. In fact, he didn't had the slightest idea, neither did he care. He let out a sigh and tossed the paper back onto the desk, and then began heading towards the toward of his room, but not before fetching a pair of black wireless headphones from his bedside table and putting them around his neck.

Izuru walked down the staircase in house with his hands in his pockets and first stopped near a window that showed the backyard of the residence, where he saw his mother working on a small garden with earbuds on.

"That explains a alot." Izuru sighed again and finally made his way over to the front door, which he opened and then let out a whistle. "Good morning, Tate."

"About time, you doofus!" The brown haired boy, Tate, exclaimed, rushing into the house. "Wanna go to the Dragon Empire today?! What about Zoo?! I heard a new hamburger place opened on the Star Gate zone, we gotta go check it!"

"Stop being so energetic, it's summer, time for resting." Izuru explained, kicking the door close and then taking a seat on the couch, melting onto the cushions as if he was ready to stay there the whole day. "Besides, we already went to all those places yesterday, let's just take a break for once."

"It's summer, time to go have fun and make memories, not be some lazy dang, you lazy dang!" Tate pouted, tossing himself into the couch. "This is going to be like the past days. You'll complain about doing things like an old man, I'll try my best to make you change your mind and then you'll change your mind."

"You're getting to over yourself, Tate." Izuru sighed. "Besides, now more than ever, I'm ready to stay in this couch until day turns night. I have a whole season of that new anime adaptation to watch."

"Can't you just watch an episode or two per day before going to bed?" Tate asked.

"No, that's when I my Persona games."

"No wonder you have to use contacts, you burn your eyes by playing those games late at night and not getting enough sleep! When did you go to bed last night?"

"At eleven."

"At what time did you feel asleep."

"At eleven thirty."

"Miyuki..." Tate growled.

"....fine, four hours ago." Izuru sighed in defeat.

"No wonder you are always tired, you're living an unhealthy lifestyle!"

"It runs in the family."

When Yu decided to take a break from the gardening work and go get a drink from the kitchen, she walked in right in the middle of Izuru and Tate's conversation. "I wish he was joking but I can't tell the last time Ryuuga lived healthy." She let out a small laugh as she poured herself a glass of cold lemodade. "Go-o-od day, Tate!"

"Oh, go-o-od day, aunt Yu!" Tate waved at the adult woman from the kitchen, smiling. "And that still isn't an excuse, so get off the couch and let's go out! There's a whole city awaiting! So many things to do, so many fights to fight, so many people to meet!"

"I don't know man, that sounds promising but the couch also sounds great." Izuru sighed.

"Damn you, you lazy-! Let's fight then! I'll fight and make you-"

Some minutes late, Izuru, who had finally gotten off the couched, rested a card. "Silent Tom attacks. It's over fifty thousand, has two crits and you can't guard with normal units."

"Aw man, all those sentinels I got are useless then!" Tate exclaimed in defeat. "Dang it, no trigger either..."

"We're staying in the couch." Izuru smirked proudly, returning to his seat in the couch.

"No way, round two! I still have alot more Protect decks sitting in my pockets! Fight me again, Miyu-"

"Ah man, I lost again, dang it!" Tate sulked.

"It's a beautiful day to play Oracle Think Tank." Izuru chuckled porudly at himself, melting onto the cushions of the couch once again. "I think today is the perfect to stay here sitted doing nothing."

"Did you at least finish the survey the school gave us?" Tate asked, also sitting back in the couch.

"That thing? Not a chance. What does it matter what we wanna do in the future? I think I'm perfectly fine not doing anything in particular. This is how you win at life, Tate. Be blank. Go unnoticed. Use the fact that no one notices you to live a peaceful lifestyle. That's what I'm going to do for the rest of my life. If I don't stand out in any way or shape, nobody can come knocking on my door and annoy me."

And then, the door of the Sawada residence began being knocked out.

"You were saying?" Tate asked with a smug.

"Don't look at me with that face, you're the only kid my age I know that can put up with my boring personality, no way that can be someone from our class." Izuru explained, lifting his head. He sighed and got off the couch, heading towards the door. "I swear, if this somehow related to you wanting to go out, I'm going to steal your favourite cards by winning them through card games."

"Dang, I wished this was my plan but I'm clueless here." Tate laughed, following Izuru.

"Yeah, yeah. What a pain." Izuru sighed, reaching out for the door's knob.

As Izuru opened the door, three large shadows were cast upon him and Tate. One was of a tall and broad build, another of a more slender but none the less manly figure, and the third was one with a more feminine figure. The sunlight that flashed upon Izuru and Tate's eyes between the small spaces that separated the ones from who the shadows came from died down, allowing the two younglings to finally see the clear picture.

"Holy dang, holy dang, holy dang!" Tate gasped, his voice becoming thinner and thinner, almost sounding like a fork scratchung glass, and his pupils becoming wider and wider from the disbelief.

On the other hand, while Izuru was also shocked and in disbelief, it was from a total different reason. His shock was more dissapointment in the presence of those people. "Oh come on... Why you three idiots?!"

"Hmph! I'm not an idiot! But you're still so cute, little Izuru~~!!" Nanami cheered, cupping her cheeks. "Hard to believe your the nephew of this dirty perverted good for nothing asshole."

"What's popping, Izuru?!" Dobe exclaimed, slamming his closed fists on his own chest. "We came to Tokyo so we decided to swing by!"

"You could hide your disappointed in me a little bit better, Nanami..." Yuichiro sniffed, faking a sad expression that quickly turned into a smile. "Long time to see, little Izu- Holy crap, Yu's side of the family got to you early!"

Izuru stared at Yuichiro with a flat look in his eyes. "You don't say."

"W-wha... B.... Ah.... T-the-tha.... M-m-miyu...." Tate muttered, shocked to a point of being unable to create even a single word. "B... Na... D... Yui..."

"Oh, right, I never told you about this. This idiot is Yuichiro, he's my step uncle. The musclehead is Dobe and the chick with the big boobs is Nanami. They've been a pro team composed of academic failures for the past decade." Izuru explained.

"Big man Izuru expanding the good vibes with compliments! What a lad!" Dobe laughed.

"Stop being so dumb and overly cheerful, those were insults!" Nanami exclaimed, hugging her chest. "I guess he's already at the age of thinking about those things..."

"Get your head out of your ass, I have some maturity!" Izuru exclaimed. "I'm not like the rest of kids my age!"

Izuru and Tate sat on some chairs in the living room while Yuichiro, Nanami and Dobe took the couch from themselves. After taking some deep breaths to regain his composure, Tate flicked Izuru behind his head.

"Miyuki, why didn't you told me your uncle was in this super famous team?!" Tate asked through whispers.

"Because I don't care about a team of academic failures." Izuru replied, crossing his arms.

"We can hear you." Yuichiro said. "But who's your friend, Izuru?"

"Oh, my bad for not saying it sooner! My name is Tametomo Serebryakov, but just call me Tate! Everyone calls me that since I'm a sucker for Protect decks and defensive playstyles!" Tate smiled.

"Sere... Serebri... Serya... Is that french?" Nanami asked, squinting her eyes.

"It's clearly portuguese, Nans." Dobe sighed.

"Guys, guys... I say it's german." Yuichiro nodded.

"It's russian." Izuru sighed. "This is what I mean. They are all a bunch of dropouts who made it big playing card games. Nanami's a high school dropout, Dobe never got into college and my uncle dropped out of college a week into being in it." He explained.

"I'll have you know that that was for the best, young Izuru." Yuichiro said. "School? A chance at a better future? Why do that when you can follow your passion of playing Vanguard? That's what matters in life. I did it, Nanami did it, Dobe did it, your brother Ryuuga only didn't do it since he fucked off to New York, now it's your turn to be smarter. Finishing middle school? Vanguard stars are born at every corner of the world, so grab onto the fact that you're still young and- Eek!" Yuichiro suddenly shivered at the sound of a knife striking a cutting board.

"I hope you aren't filling my son's head with your stupid way of thinking, little brother." Yu said, looking at Yuichiro from the kitchen with a death glare and malicious grin. "Would be terrible if we had Yuichiro soup for lunch because someone told their nephew the wrong things."

"R-right, step sis..." Yuichiro weakly nodded.

"Wait, step sis? So the great Kanesada isn't your actual uncle, Miyuki?" Tate asked.

"Kinda is, kinda isn't." Izuru just shrugged at the question.

"Finally, a shot at dumping some precious Team Dropout lore! You see, young Tate, it all started eighteen years ago, when my dad remarried with Yu's mom. Back then, I was still eleven, but goddamn was I already a full on player. I finally had gotten myself a smoking hot older sister, so this would be my time to start my popular phase! ...if she wasn't already engaded." Yuichiro explained.

"You're disgusting, little brother." Yu said with a smile, whacking Yuichiro on the head with a frying pan.

"Hey, that hurted!" Yuichiro exclaimed, rubbing his head.

"Honestly, you have to stop trying to force people to hear to our story whenever you get the slightest chance. If you're going to plug something, then plug something useful!" Nanami sighed.

"Oh I know what I'm going to plug tonight, gyeheheh..." Yuichiro looked at the ceiling, letting out a small but malicious chuckle.

"You're even more deprived now that you're almost thirty than when I met you for the first time, you're the worst!"

"Yuichiro and Yu become step siblings... And then ba-bam, Team Dropout was formed!" Dobe exclaimed.

"What? Not yet! Anyway, many years later, after I get into college, I get struck with the sudden dream of wanting to become a pro fighter and get myself a harem of smoking hot Vanguard girls, so I drop out and go live at a local park for a few days. And then enter Nanami, who heard of my great Vanguard skills and wanted to play Vanguard with me. And then bam, I ring up Dobe and the three of us become a team that wins stuff!"

"So cool!" Tate cheered, his eyes glimmering.

And on the other hand, Izuru's eyes seemed darker. "So lame."

"I also am a harem guy, mister Kanesada!" Tate declared. "I'm only in my first year of middle school, but I've already had five girlfriends!"

"F-five?!" Yuichiro, Dobe and Nanami asked, filled with shock. Even Yu was slightly shocked at the declaration.

"Wait for it." Izuru sighed.

"We never kissed of hugged or held hands and only lasted for like two days but it counts!"

"Ah... But same here, I also suck at dating!" Yuichiro said. "I'm in it for the harem, not the commitment!"

"Damn, people really get lame when they grow hold." Izuru sighed, resting his head of his right hand.

"But hey, if you don't want to go pro at a young age, then what do you wanna do?" Nanami asked. "You're at that age of thinking about it. The phase of wanting to become a fireman or an astronaunt is over."

"Right now, the only thing I wanna do is get out of here." Izuru answered. "Come on Tate, let's go to that new restaurant in the Dark Zone or whatever."

"Hey, hey, no need to be the embodiment of that phase where all you say is 'meh' and 'whatever'!" Yuichiro said, placing his hand on Izuru's head. "You can be angy later, today is family time! Speaking of that, where's Ryuuga?"

"Oh, Ryuuga and Joe moved onto their own apartment to try to have a taste of real life. I'm sure that Ryuuga is out there, making memories with his friends and living a summer romance!!" Yu exclaimed.

And somewhere in the city, the exact opposite was happening. Ryuuga and Fujiko ran through the streets of Tokyo, alongside Akira, Emon and Hikaru, who was riding on Emon's back. The five of them were being chased by a large battalion of Star Gate and Dragon Empire fighters mixed together and lead by Tenma and Sakate.

"GODDAMMIT! FUCK MY LIFE AND FUCK THIS WORLD TOO!" Ryuuga yelled, fastening his pace. "THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA, KAIDO WAS RIGHT! THESE TWO ARE ALWAYS HANGING AROUND THE DARK ZONE WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT!"

"FASTER EMOMON, FASTEEEEEEEEEEEER! THE GUNDAM FANS AND BLUE EYES WHITE DRAGON CULTISTS ARE BEHIND US!" Hikaru yelled, shaking Emon's shoulders.

"I GOT IT, I GOT IT, RUN AWAY FROM THE ONIBITENBUS!" Emon shouted back. "HAVING YOU ON MY BACK DOESN'T HELP ALOT EITHER!"

"AAAAAAAAAAH IT WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA TO TAKE A QUEST AS SPIRAL TERRA, THEY'RE TRYING TO RECRUIT US FOR THEIR GROUP OF LOSERS!" Fujiko cried, already near the limit of her stamina.

"WHY DID I HAVE TO COME, I WAS IN SPIRAL TERRA AS A SUBTITUTE FOR REGIONALS ONLY!" Akira complained. "THIS SUCKS!"

"JOIN US, WE HAVE COOL ROBOTS!" Tenma yelled.

"NO, JOIN US! WE HAVE COOL THUNDER DRAGONS!" Sakate countered.

"Ah, wonderful summer memories and a beautiful summer romance." Yu sighed in pleasure. "They grow so fast..."

"Yikes, she went mom mode..." Dobe chuckled.

"Yeah, whatever." Izuru sighed as he got off his chair. "Let's go, Tate. It's like you said, you have a full day ahead of us so let's make the most of it."

"C'mon Miyuki, this is the one where we should stay inside and not go make summer memories and have fun, we're in the presence of one of my favourite pro teams!" Tate exclaimed. "Come on, Miyuki!"

"Yeah, Miyuki. I'll fight you if you stay~~." Yuichiro suggested, waving his platinum and red FiCa. "Wait, Miyuki?"

"You seriously only noticed it now? Geez, you're stupid." Nanami sighed.

"I think it's a dope name!" Dobe laughed.

"Miyuki is my nickname, just ignore it. And why would I stick around to fight you? I can do that on Christmas or something, whenever you swing by next time."

"That's right... Eh, I'm still your uncle and a responsible adult-"

"Responsible between quotation marks." Nanami and Dobe said.

"So fight me or I'll... I don't know, take away those cool headphones you have?"

"...my headphones?" Izuru muttered, gritting his teeth slighty. He reached out for one of the pockets in his shorts and took out his FiCa, which has platinum with green details signifying him to be a Grade 3. "Fine, I'll do it and make you swallow your ego."

"Ay, that's the stuff! And holy crap, you're already Grade 3?! Nice going!"

"Miyuki has alot of free time during his school days since the only club he's in is something called Open Schedule Club. I'm pretty sure it's just a way to commit fraud and goof off instead of actually doing extracurricular activities." Tate explained. "But he never let me into the club so I don't have any idea."

"Respect the Open Schedule Club." Izuru said, shifting his FiCa into it's fighting table form after taking out his deck. "I don't goof off, I just rest after having a stressful day of classes."

"That's some big bullcrap." Yuichiro cackled, locking his side of the table with Izuru's. After shuffling his deck, he placed it down and drew five cards. "I opened a pretty nice busted hand. I'm about to end this nephew's whole career."

"You're what?" Yu asked, dragging her nails down the bottom end of the frying pan she held. "You perhaps want to reconsider your words when using them against your nephew, a.k.a my son."

"It was just a joke, Yu... Sheesh."

Nanami and Dobe moved closer to Yuichiro and took a peek at the cards in his hand, which lead the two of them to sweatdrop. 'Busted hand...? You just don't wanna mulligan because you might draw something worse...'

"Yeah, yeah." Izuru sighed, drawing two new cards. "Ok, let's fight. The quicker we do this the faster I can leave."

"Exactly! Prepare yourself, young Izuru Sawada, you're about to enter battle against one of Japan's finest, the one and only Yuichiro Kanesada! Stand up, my vanguard! Knight of Early Dawn, Coel! (5000)" Yuichiro's vangaurd circle expanded in silver.

"Time for some dope Spike Brothers action, wew!" Dobe cheered.

"Stand up, vanguard. Solar Maiden, Uzume. (6000)" Izuru's vanguard circle expanded in white.

"I got blueballed by OTT!"

"I'll take the first move! Stand and-"

Izuru placed his cards down and shrugged. "Can't do anything with that hand, guess I'll just scoop and be on my way. Let's get going, Tate."

"DAMMIT PLAY THE GAME UNTIL THE END, ALRIGHT?!" Yuichiro exclaimed. "I just wanna have a game with my nephew, who I love so much, so don't turn away on your family and fight me!"

"You're desperate for family time." Nanami let out a malicious giggle, hidding her mouth behind her hand.

"Yes, I am!"

"Dang it, alright, I'll play the dang game." Izuru clicked his tongue as he grabbed his cards.

"Alright! That's the spirit! I ride Knight of Vitality, Brennius! (8000) Coel moves back (5000) and I end it there."

"Alright, stand and draw! Unleash the silver howl that subverts the tides of the fight and continue on fighting through all challenges, great silver wolf! I ride, Great Silver Wolf, Garmore! (12000)" Yuichiro's vanguard circle exploded in silver.

"Oh, Garmore! It's not Ezel but it has a cool on-place!" Tate exclaimed.

"Exactly! Imaginary Gift, Accel II! I draw one. At this moment, both Garmore and Brennius' skills activate, so I'll use Brennius' first. I move him into the soul and draw one, then call Interlude Angel! (7000) Interlude Angel's skill, I move her into the soul to call the top card of my deck! Full Cavalier Dragon! (12000>>17000) Now, Garmore's skill activates! I counterblast one to look at the top three and superior call Dindrane! (7000) The remaining two cards go to the bottom. then, I'll give 3k to all my units. (17000>>20000) (9000>>12000) (7000>>10000) (5000>>8000) Dindrane's skill, I soulblast one to countercharge and give her power! (10000>>13000) Now, onto my main phase."

"Wait, why countercharge when you already had two face up damage? That's like, such a waste of a draw!" Dobe said.

"You're on his team, you've seen this play a million times, doofus!" Nanami exclaimed.

"What play?" Tate asked, looking at Izuru.

Izuru sighed and shrugged. "He activated Unite when all of his skills entered an activation timing, and he has two counterblast and at least something to drop from his hand, so he's going to use Spear-X Dragon." He explained.

"Yes, I am! From the G Zone, Unite! I counterblast two and discard one to superior Generation Stride! Golden Dragon, Spear-X Dragon! (27000)" Yuichiro's vanguard circle exploded in silver.

"Ah hell yeah, Spear-X combo! That's my dude!"

"But you just said- Dobe, why are you so dumb?!" Nanami cried.

"I prefer the term slightly bellow average."

"Guys, c'mon, we're fighting here." Yuichiro said, shaking his head. "Spear-X's skill! I soulblast one and turn a G Unit face up to check the top five and call two cards out. I'll call Alienor (9000) and Gigantech Ringer! (4000) Coel's Unite! I move him into the soul, look at the top three and superior call Dindrane! (7000) Add 2k! (7000>>9000) And now, Gigantech Ringer's skill! I put him back on the top of the deck, shuffle it and draw one whilst giving Dindrane another 5k. (9000>>14000) And once again, I'll use Dindrane's skill by soulbasting one, but this time I'll draw one. I call Knight of Resolution, Bethoc. (5000) Since I called over two units this turn, she gets 5k. (5000>>10000) Now, let's fight for real. Full Cavalier attacks! (20000)"

"ToTo. (24000)"

"Boosted by Bethoc, Alienor attacks. (9000>>19000) But since I called over four cards, she won't rest to boost, and I'll only use the 5k power boost part of Alienor's skill. (19000>>24000) Y'know, just-"

"Just in case you get a stand. No guard. (Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu)"

"Exactly. Boosted by Dindrane, Spear-X attacks! (27000>>41000)"

"No guard."

"Triple drive! (Great Silver Wolf, Garmore) (Dawning Knight, Gorboduc) (Gigantech Ringer - Stand) Bingo, all to my rested Alienor! (9000>>14000)"

"(Sapient Angel)"

"Boosted by Dindrane, Alienor! I called more than four, so add a total of 15k! (9000>>22000>>37000)"

"(Weather Forecaster, Miss Mist - Draw) Vanguard. (19000)"

"Alienor goes into the soul. Boosted by Bethoc, Alienor! Add 15k! (14000>>24000>>39000)"

"No guard. (Supreme Heavenly Battle Deity, Susanoo)"

Yuichiro let out a sigh of relief and rubbed his left shoulder. "Man, what a turn. Alright, I end it there."

"Stand and draw."

"Miyuki, Miyuki!" Tate called.

"What is it now, Tate?"

"Stop being a sour stick in the mud and get excited, this fight isn't any fun with you just sighing and stuff! Show some of that genius and unbreakable streak mojo, you dummy!"

"Genius? Unbreakable streak?" Yuichiro asked. "Damn, what have you been up to while I was gone?"

"Nothing, forget about it. I ride-"

"You see, out of nowhere, Miyuki started getting the highest grades in class, and almost the highest grades of our entire year! He also started beating people left and right, even our seniors in middle school!"

"The seniors too? Goddamn, Izuru! A call about your sudden badassness would have been greatly appreciated."

"Hard to believe someone as cool as Izuru is your nephew." Nanami sneered.

"Tate, you idiot... You didn't had to go and tell everyone that." Izuru clicked his tongue. "I'll ride-"

"Put some emotion into it or else I'll keep embarassing you in front of your family!"

"You idiot..." Between his sighs, Izuru let out a small chuckle. "If you're so set on it then... Final turn!"

Yuichiro, Dobe and Nanami squinted. "This early?!"

(Play the media)

"I am thou, thou art I, thou who wields the blade to purges all evils shall steer the balance between heaven and earth. Now descend, unruly swordsman! Ride, Supreme Heavenly Battle Deity, Susanoo! (13000)" Izuru's vanguad circle exploded in white.

"Susanoo, hell yeah! Beat him up, Miyuki!"

"Imaginary Gift, Protect I, to my hand! Susanoo's skill when ridden, I check the top two, reveal one to you and leave it on the top, while the other goes to the bottom. I'll reveal you Magical Calico. Now, liberating the Generation Zone! Go beyond the fate scribbled in the stars, Generation Stride! Sterling Witch, MoMo! (27000)" Izuru's vanguard circle expldoed in white once again.

"Eh? But that Calico is still on the top, can you draw it?" Yuichiro asked, smirking.

"What clan am I playing?" Izuru asked in return. "I call Rectangle Magus! (9000) Counterblast, soulblast, I check the top two cards of my deck and return them in any order, then I draw one. I call Silent Tom! (9000) Counterblast one, add 6k. (9000>>15000) I call Magical Calico. (5000) Oracle! I move him into the soul and discard one to search my deck for three cards and reveal them to you." From his deck, Izuru took out a set of cards that he placed in front of Yuichiro. "Choose which Goddess of the Sun, Amaterasu I add to my hand."

"Hm... The left one."

Izuru placed the card to Yuichiro's left in his hand and the other two in his drop zone. "The one you chose comes to my hand, the other two hit the drop. Now Ammaterasu's skill, tiems three. Since she was revealed from the deck by a skill, I bind the top card of my deck to give my vanguard 10k and a critical. (Sapient Angel) (Weather Forecaster, Miss Mist) (Supreme Heavenly Battle Deity, Susanoo) (26000>>56000/4) I call Battle Sister, Panettone. (8000) I move her into the soul, check the top two and put one on top and one at the bottom. My next trigger effect will have an extra 10k. Battle. MoMo attacks! I counterblast one and flip a G Unit face up, then drop three cards to give my front row 30k! (15000>>45000) (56000>>86000/4) (9000>>39000) Seven Star Formation, Polaris Strike!"

"Not so fast! Generation Guard! Golden Beast, Sleimy Flare! (27000) When placed, I botdeck Dindrane to check the top five and call two cards with different grades from among them to the guardian circle! Interlude Angel and Mark! (37000) I'll drop one and perfect guard!"

"Triple drive. (Celeste Witch, ToTo - Critical) A critical trigger. All on Tom. This one will be powered up by Panettone's effect. (45000>>65000/2) Rectangle Magus' skill, add 5k when my drive check reveals a trigger. (39000>>44000) (Silent Tom) (Celeste Witch, ToTo - Critical) I split the power and critical between Tom and Rectangle, then her skill goes off. (65000/2>>65000/3) (44000>>59000) Since I discarded three cards for her skill, MoMo stands, drive minus two. MoMo, attack again! (86000/4) Polaris Strike!"

"Generation Guard! True Liberator of Healing, Ellise! (27000) Generation Break! I counterblat one and turn another G Guardian face up to check the top cards of my deck and call one from among them to the guardian circle. Mark! I discard one again to nullify the attack!"

"Drive check. (Celeste Witch, ToTo - Critical) Tom. (65000/3>>75000/4) rectangle's skill. (59000>>64000) Silent Tom, attack. (75000/4) You can't guard using normal units."

"Eh, you got me there. (Listener of Truth, Dindrane) (Full Cavalier Dragon) (Halo Shield, Mark - Draw) I got one shot by OTT and Zazan wasn't even involved."

"Zazan? You're comparing me to a bunch of lazy randos." Izuru huffed as he began packing his cards.

"Hey, hey, I was just joking." Yuichiro laughed.

"Sheesh Miyuki, that final attack was mean." Tate commented. "Really cool, but it was so dang mean."

"Don't tell me you think it was dishonourable or something." Izuru chuckled.

"Honour? Man, that shit's overrated." Yuichiro sneered as he sat back down on the couch. "It's the same yippity yappity that leads nowhere."

"What are you going on about?" Izuru asked.

"That's one of the things in where I can agree with him." Nanami laughed. "People think too much of honour, it gets to a point where it can screw them up really badly. Doing what's honourable isn't the answer to everything."

"Say you found a pile of money, aight? The honourable thing would be to return it to the cops or something, but inside the bag is enough money to cover for some surgery your best pal needs. At the eyes of most people, the honourable thing would be to return the cash to the cops or it's owner." Dobe explained.

"What we're trying to say is that honour is nothing more than a piece of crap you don't need in your life. Doing what you can, no matter how honourable it is, to make your friends smile. Now that's what I'd call truly honourable. Living life like an honourless bastard is the best way to go at it. Don't give a damn, and always protect those who you care about that. That's true honour."

Izuru placed his FiCa back on his short's pocket and looked away from the three adults on the couch, rubbing the back of head. 'That actual doesn't sound too bad..' "Is that why you three are so fine with dropping high school and college?"

"We're living life to it's fullest, and making our friends and family smile. I couldn't ask for anything better in my life. I'm going to be honest with you, Izuru. What Tate said earlier made me see a younger version of myself in you. Not alot care to tell this part about my story, but I also was a top student. I focused on school because of my love for Vanguard. I was the top student at math, so that I easily calculate power and porbability. I learned stuff like italian, korean and french to be able to play Vanguard with anyone in the world, using any cards. Hell, I even went balls deep into history because I wanted to see in what points the Vanguard lore gets it's inspiration form." Yuichiro explained.

"Oh yeah? How does that have anything to do with me?" Izuru asked.

"Beats me. For all we know, I might have seen myself in you because fate is telling me you're going to have a harem. That'd be pretty dope."

"Hell no, I don't have time for some annoying girls."

"That so? Alright adult gang, gather up. We're making little Miyuki here a harem." Yuichiro said with a malicious grin. "Nanami, what would you throw in?"

"Me? Hm... Oh, a total social butterfly! A gal type that isn't that gal! That's totally my time!" Nanami clapped her hands.

"That's what you were before dropping out of school wasn't it..." Izuru sighed.

"Despite them never ending up with the protag, I'd totally go for a childhood friend! Those are the best and having to spend two seasons tsundering around can be avoided!" Dobe exclaimed.

"That actually doesn't sound too bad..."

"I'd go with an older girl! A total onee-san, if you know what I mean! One year older, and would love to get up on that-!"

Yu lifted her frying pan and whacked Yuichiro with it once again. "Ignore him. I don't care what type of girl Izuru gets, aslong as it is someone who loves him as much as he loves her. What else could I ask for?"

"Sweet mom moment but dammit, stop using your trusty frying pan as a trusy smack me in the head pan!"

"You four really are old idiots..." Izuru muttered to himself. "Great to see you three again. Tate, let's go. I think I wanna go to that Star Gate place too."

"Totally! But first, great Kanesada, what harem would you give me?!" Tate asked, his eyes sparkling with an execitment that went instinct with a brief answer.

"You told him to kick my ass, the only harem you're getting is your current one! Dating tons of girls for small periods of time!"

"My hero cursed me..." Tate muttered, filled with shock as Izuru dragged him out of the house.

"Geez, you traumatized poor Tate, you idiot." Yu huffed.

"Don't worry, he'll be fine, They'll both be fine. My gut is just telling me so."

"But did you three really have to go and spew that stuff about honour? They're still kids."

"It's part of us, the one mentality we have." Dobe said.

"This was the best time for them to hear it. Wasting your youth being a goody two shoes that does everything for honour won't help you win in the long run." Nanami said.

"Living life as an honourless bastard... That's just part of the great Yuichiro's legend. Of the legend of Team Dropout, a trio of academic dropouts who took the Vanguard world by storm." Yuichiro laughed at himself.

Now outside, Izuru and Tate walked through the roads of the residential area, with Izuru having his hands in his pockets and Tate having his behind his head, looking up at the sky.

"Man, it really sucked to get cursed by the great Kanesada. But still, meaning him was so cool!" Tate exclaimed. "Though that I think about that question he made... From where did your nickname come from? I just know you once asked to be regarded as Miyuki like a month ago, but that's where I draw the line."

"Hm..."

It all happened on the last day Ryuuga would be living in the Sawada residence. On the afternoon of that day, Ryuuga and Izuru went to a nearby arcade together, where they spent the entire afternoon playing all the games they came across. Though among those games, there was one where they spent the most time playing. It was a simple shooting game that could be played with two people at the same time, called 'Miyuki's Space Adventure'.

The two siblings placed down the toy guns after their last game coin was used, and their current score was stuck at 9999, the highest score available and also the highest record on that machine.

"Man, that was harsh." Ryuuga panted, sitting on the ground.

"You're tired already? Man, you're so lame!" Izuru laughed. "What should we name this score? Got any lame name pun?"

"RyuuIzu? IzuRyu? Eh, beats me... Wait, I got it!" Ryuuga jumped off the ground and joined Izuru. "Let's name it Miyuki, like the protagonist of the game!"

"Sounds cool!"

After entering the name onto the scoreboard and recieving a tall pile of tickets due to their high score, the Sawada siblings headed over to a prize exchange counter, where they could exchange the tickets they gained from playing games for certain items.

"Damn, there's so much cool stuff here. Got any ideas?" Ryuuga asked, looking down on Izuru.

Izuru had his eyes fixed on a pair of black heaphones sitting at the top of the prize pyramid, but quickly looked away. "Why not a copy of Miyuki's guns? We have enough tickets for two of those."

"That's true. Hey ma'am? I'd like to exchange all these tickets for the headphones!"

"Huh? Wait, what are you-"

"Just so that you don't forget about me just because I'm moving out." Ryuuga said. After grabbing the headphones, he crouched in front of Izuru and palced the headphones around his neck. "Goddamn, my coolness level just dropped to zero, they'll go negative if you keep looking this cool!"

Izuru chuckled and took his left hand out of his pocket, using it to grab his headphones. "Beats me."

'What I want to do in the future... I think this will do it.' Izuru thought. It was now nighttime and he sat by his desk, finishing the survey his school had given him prior to the beginning of summer vacation. After completing the sheet, he sighed and laid down of his bed, with his headphones still on. He put his hands behind his head and stared at the ceiling.

'I want to become someone who'll protect Heiwa. I don't want to become it's King or student council president, but I'll always be there to support them. I'll protect Heiwa, even if that means becoming some honourless bastard.'

(Ending)

"AAAAAAAAAAAH WE'RE SO SCREWED!"

In front of the gates of Heiwa Academy, a tall teenage boy with light brown hair dropped to his knees, grabbing onto his head as he screamed. Around him was a large group of students, all of them wearing the Heiwa school uniform.

"How did this go happen?! Specially today?! I really need Ako-chan's emotial support but we broke up yesterday! Tamaki-chan's would also be fine, but we broke up last week! Damn it Kanesada, the universe took your curse too serious!! Pres, we're screwed! Pres Hanagata, this is it for us!"

By the yelling boy's side stood a girl. She was of average height and with a voluptuous build, with dark blue eyes and brownish-red hair that went past her neck, but didn't reach her mid back, with some bangs covering her right eye. She wore her Heiwa uniform underneath a long-sleeved light blue sweater, with a green version of Heiwa uniform's skirt and black tights, though her most noticeable feature was the set of dark blue wireless headphones around her neck.

"Calm down, Tate-kun." The girl spoke in a calming tone. "You've known him for more than the rest of us, so you should have more faith in him." 'I have faith in you... But was this really the best option? It doesn't feel like something you'd do...'

The center of attention, the thing that was at the core of the massive crowd of Heiwa students, was nothing more than a pair of students separated by a table, each holding some cards.

One of them was a tall and bulk one, with blonde hair long enough to each his neck. He kept his hair pulled back, with the exception of a strand that went down the right side of his face. His eyes were dark and he wasn't wearing neither the jacket of his uniform nor his tie.

"It's ironic." The blonde student spoke in a strong and deep tone, grinning at his opponent. "You're the brain and I'm the brawn. You keep drawing to call a field and I keep taking it away. It's symbiotic. Vision Token, attack!"

His opponent placed down a card. "Guard."

"Eh. Turn end. The Vision Token created by my Dragonic Blademaster "Souen"'s effect is retired. Your turn." The blonde student said.

"Then stand and draw."

On the other side of the table stood the blonde student's opponent, another Heiwa Academy student of the same year as him. Compared to his opponent, this one was shorter and much thinner, with long hair of a dark brown colour so dark that it was hard to tell if it's black or not. His eyes were also dark, and his hair covered most of the left side of his face. Around his neck he wore a set of black wireless headphones. He sighed and closed his eyes.

'I became someone able to protect Heiwa.'

'But... Go, I have faith in you, Izuru!' The girl thought.

'So I won't let you cause any more problems.' The boy opened his eyes and grabbed one of the cards in his hand. "I am thou, thou art I, thou who wields the blade that purges all evils shall steer the balance between heaven and earth. Now descend, unruly swordsman! Ride, Supreme Heavenly Battle Deity, Susanoo!"
