With the holidays coming around the school is setting up different things for us to give back too. For most people they could care less about it, but for others volunteering looks very good when applying for collages. As I look at the board Zeref comes up behind me resting his chin on my head. I giggle when I feel some of his hair tickle my ear.

"Are you gonna do this?"

"Yes, it's nice todo something for others. What about you silly?"

I look up to see his eyes locked onto different signs asking for help. "I will if you will." Smiling to myself I look to see what would be the best fit for us. Some shelters are asking for help, some food banks. "How about a maid cafe." I laugh at the thought of Zeref's face right now but feeling his arm around my waist and the low growl come from his throat I can get a good idea that idea is a no go. 

"It was just a joke, I swear he-he?" Looking up, I see him burning holes into that paper. I turn in his arm and hug him. "Hey I was just kidding. I would never wear something like that." Hugging me tightly he tells me I better now ever unless it was him only to see. Hearing him talk like that makes my face start to burn. He's talking like that at school, what if someone heard us?  I see him smirk at me while placing sweet kisses on my cheeks. 

"You two are just so cute together."

We both look over to see Erza, Lucy and Levy are just behind her with stars in their eyes. Zeref lets me go and I take his hand as we walk over to him. "Thank you guys." I squeeze Zeref's hand to try to relax him. He's still in the mind set that my friends aren't his either but I remind them that they are too. "Are you guys going to sigh up for anything?" Lucy and Levy signed up to work at the public library which doesn't shock me, it also doesn't shock me when I hear where Erza signed up at.

"I will learn the ways to bake the best strawberry cake." With her arm raised and some droll hanging on her lips we all begin to laugh but it's quickly shut down when we all get the death glare. "S-So what are you two going to volunteer at." Levy says with a hint of fear still stuck in her throat. Thinking over the places I know the one that will be the best fit for both of us.

"Thank you two so much for helping out with all these animal. They have so much love to give and want to be played with so badly. It really means a lot to us." 

I look around to see some dogs playing with other dogs, cats in the windows taking baths or sleeping. I even hear dogs in the backyard barking at passing buyers. Zeref is fixated on the dogs, I've never really asked him what his favorite animal is or what kind of breed dog he likes. She takes us on the tour of the place and what we will be doing for the day.

We both started off giving the dogs their breakfast, all the barking from dogs was a lot but once they all dug into their food it was cute seeing their tails wag. Looking over to Zeref he to is smiling but it felt like it was for a different reason. After that, we let them all loose to go outside to go potty. Some of them would come up to me to jump on me or smell me. I pet as many as my hand could reach and gave every doggy that came to me a treat. I then proceeded to grab a tennis ball, throwing it as hard as I can, about 10 dogs chase it.

As I watch those dogs fight over the ball, a small weenier dog comes up to me. His fur was short, dark in color. His face was the cutest thing I've ever seen in a dog. "What's your name little guy?" Looking at his name tag it reads Sebastian. 

"Sebastian, what a cute name for a cute puppy." I reach out to have him smell me. He takes his time to smell the whole thing before he licks it. I fell in love the minute I saw him, I call over to Zeref to see this dog. He bends down too, sticking his hand out too and also receives kisses as well. "As much as I want to stay here, we gotta check on the cats too." Standing up we call in all the dogs, Zeref had to chase after some but we mange to get them back in.

As the day goes on, the cats are fed along with the dogs again. I clean some cages while Zeref restocks items in the shop. Every now and then when he's not looking I toss something at him or kiss his cheek when he least expects it. Seeing him blush is such a beautiful site. 

Thought out the day families, couples come in to see all the animals wanting to be taken home. Each time I saw a family go to sebastian I get a small thing of fear into my heart. Something about that dog makes me want to adopt him but, would my parents let me? 

Zeref goes over to check on him, I walk over there as well. I pick him up and hold him as close I can to my chest, I thought he wouldn't let me do that but his tail starts to wag like crazy and my chin gets covered in his sloppy kisses. "He really likes you." Zeref pets his head but looking at him I see some hidden sadness in his eyes then a small wall of tears forming on the rim of his eyes.

"Zeref? What's the matter?"

"Hm, oh its nothing. Don't worry about it."

Setting Sebastian I take Zeref's hand and lead him to the back room. "Don't give me that. If something is wrong then tell me." He begins to sniff while pulling me into a hug. "I'm sorry, it's just hard to be with these dogs sometimes. I used to have a dog when I was little but, he-he." I rub his back, understanding what he was going to say next. "What you're doing now is making you doggy in heaven very happy. Im sure he's always next you making sure you're safe and sound."

He nods on my shoulder, his tears making my shoulder wet but, it doesn't bother me. I'll be his shoulder to cry on forever and when ever he needs it. "It's lunch for us, lets go get some food." Wiping his cheek I peck his lips, a smile appears telling me he's feeling better. We leave to pick up some food but I have an idea before going back to the shelter. 

For the rest of the day we worked hard, gave baths more feedings and even had to clean some poo off the floor. While doing all of this Zeref and out new puppy friend stayed with us the whole time. I sent a picture of him to my father asking him if we could take this dog but I haven't gotten a response from him. I gotta get this dog. I may never see him again after this day. I check my phone every five minutes but I still get nothing and when the clock strikes 5pm I can't bare to let this little guy go. 

Putting my hand on the glass I hold back the tears forming in my eyes. He puts his paw on the glass, his little body was shaking as I heard him whining. "I'll be back as soon as I can. If not, I really enjoyed our day together and you'll get a home very soon." Sniffing Zeref bends down to rub my back, I turn to him to hug his neck and sob on his shoulder. "Come on, let's go home sweetie."

A few days later at school all I kept thinking about was that dog. I was hoping he didn't get adopted but then I was also thinking that was mean of me, that little guy needs a home. I wasn't paying very much attention to anything but then I remembered I had something for Zeref. "Oh! I have something for you. I can't believe I forgot." I pull my bag around to unzip the top part of my bag. He raises an eyebrow before his eyes go big. I pulled out a husky teddy bear, blue and gray fur with light blue eyes. His mouth is gapped open as he reaches slowly to take it. "I got it for you so you can feel like your doggy is with you always." 

"Thank you...Thank you so much for this Mavis-I, I love you."

"W-What?"

He comes to me, pulling me by the waist and kissing me passionately. I melt in his arms and into the kiss. What ever breath was in my lungs has left me completely. When we break apart my eyes are in a daze. He chuckles, fixing my hair and getting the bit of spit off my lip. 

"You heard me, I said I love you, I love you Mavis."

I smile at him, letting my tears roll down my cheek. "I love you too, Zeref."

Look at that, an update. I'm very very sorry its taken me forever to update but thank you all for staying around and not leaving me. Im so thankful for all of you. I'm finally getting my hands back into working orders so this one might not be the best work but it's my gift to all of you. Anyway, I hoped you liked it :)
