The Sister.

"Huh?"

"You don't think I'm really that stupid, do you?" Kid's voice gradually sounding more and more agitated by the second as he grumbles to himself, his golden eyes still observantly reading your face. "You're holding your stomach, you're walking slow and you look like a deer in the headlights. I've seen injured people before, I know the signs, Blue."

Damn, he's good...

"I...It was just a mugging, nothing worth crying over..." Your brave response makes the redhead smirk but he still looks a little concerned, of course it's only brief before he turns around and continues heading for the apartment block though his walking pace has slowed enough for you to walk side-by-side, something you're silently grateful for all things considered.

"You remember what the little shit looked like?"

"No, nothing noteworthy. He was blonde and white, that's hardly enough to go on."

Your vague description only gains a grunt from your neighbour, a scowl etching into his features when his phone starts ringing, the pale male simply plucking the device from his pocket and roughly hitting the screen with his thumb before pressing the speaker to his ear.

"What?!"

Oh, so welcoming...

He stops for a moment, causing you to halt also as he inhales deeply before releasing the breath, his eyes filling more and more with irritation by the second. "Yeah, what of it? I wanted to make sure you're not screwing me around, I have no patience for people like you." You're not entirely sure what the person on the other end of the line is saying but it seems to be pissing Kid off.

Even more than usual.

"Killer would disagree, you seemed to think you could rip him off. Now let me be very clear, you pull that shit on me, I won't only cancel my subscription but I'll also come straight into that shitty office of yours and wrap that computer monitor around your skull."

You notice a couple giving the redhead a somewhat terrified glance as they stroll past, you can only offer them an awkward smile, hoping it'll put them at ease if nothing else.

Don't worry, he's not mad at you guys...yet.

"What are you looking at?!"

And there it is.

The pair instantly averting their gazes as they pick up the pace, seemingly trying to get as far away from the raging redhead as possible, the sight making you smirk a little though.

Angry Kid is rather amusing after all.

His attention darting back toward the phone as he grumbles under his breath. "So you should. Good, I'll be keeping an eye on my bank account." And with that, he hangs up the phone, shoving it back into his pocket before his orbs shift to you. "Come on, Blue. We're losing daylight here."

He kindly walks you all the way back to the apartment complex but stops short outside suddenly, simply watching as you walk up the concrete steps, your brows knitting together when you notice that he's not moving and your attention turning back to him.

"What's with you? Counting the steps or something?" Your question only earns you a simple shake of Kid's head, a quiet snicker reaching your ears as he whips his phone from his pocket once again.

"Nah, I gotta meet some friends at the bar. I just thought I'd make sure you got home in one piece first." And with that, the redhead takes his leave, one of his hands tucked into his pocket whilst the other scrolls through messages on his phone as he makes his way back the way he came.

Did he really go out of his way to walk me home?

Once Kid had disappeared from view, you make yourself inside but of course, the very first thing you see upon stepping through the door is Katakuri and...a girl.

Of course, he has a girlfriend! Why wouldn't he?! Look at the man!

It would seem that the two just came back from grocery shopping, judging by the carrier bags filled with food on the floor, Katakuri unlocking the door leading into his own apartment before he begins taking the bags inside.

It would seem that the girl isn't too interested in helping him though, however the more your eyes adjust on her, the more you realize how young she looks.

She must be younger than me!

She has long dark hair swept into a ponytail, light brown eyes and is wearing a red polka-dot dress. The youthful girl blowing a bubble with her chewing gum as her orbs shoot in your direction, a gasp escaping her lips and causing the bubble to pop loudly.

"Hello!" She blurts with a big grin spreading across her lips, bouncing up and down on the spot excitedly, the action causing your brow to raise curiously. "You must be that girl! Katakuri! Is this the lady who lives above you~?"

He speaks about me?

All you can really offer is a nervous hum as you awkwardly close the main door behind you, a shy smile on your lips as Katakuri comes back into the hallway, shooting the girl a glare as he grabs more bags from the ground.

"I thought you said she was pretty!"

Ouch.

Your brows immediately furrowing as your eyes widen a little, you could barely believe your ears as the young girl crosses her arms over her chest, a childish pout etching into her features.

"You're not good enough for my big broth--"

"Flampe!" And just like that, she falls silent. Her face paling a little as she stares up at her older sibling with wide eyes, nervously fiddling with her fingers. "You can begin putting the food away."

The girl stubbornly lingers in the doorway for a moment as you pass her, about to make your way up the stairs to your own floor as her voice catches your ears once again.

"You and her will be perfect together with your weird teeth and her weird face!"

What a little brat!

Quite frankly though, you're far too sick of your bad luck today to care what this kid says, you can hear her getting yelled at vaguely as you reach your floor, beelining straight into your apartment.

However upon attempting to close the door, something stops you, the wooden barrier jolting as it hits something heavy on the other side. It only takes a moment before it's carefully pushed open again, revealing Katakuri, you hadn't even heard him follow you up here.

And since you can already feel your eyes beginning to water, you really start to wish he had just stayed with his nasty little sister, your teeth instinctively clamping down on your bottom lip as you timidly turn your face away from the man's piercing gaze.

Do not cry here, damn it! Not in front of him!

"I just wanted to...apologize...for my sister's behaviour." If you'd just look at the poor man's face, you would see the bright red blush spreading across his cheeks as he rubs the back of his head timidly, one would wager that he's not used to saying sorry. "She can be diffi--Are you okay?"

That question has you weakly nodding your head as a single tear rolls down your cheek, your eyes still avoiding his and your mind silently scolding you like mad for crying even a little bit in front of him.

"J-Just...a rough day..." He doesn't say a single word to that, he just watches you closely, seemingly waiting for you to elaborate and much to your own surprise - you end up doing just that. "I snapped at a friend over something stupid then got mugged on the way home so I'm feeling a l-little low, is all. It's nothing, really."

Despite your claims of it being 'nothing', more tears begin to stream down your face, a sob tearing from your throat before you could even think to try and bite it back, your trembling hands making a weak attempt to dry your eyes.

Christ, now I look ridiculous!

Your neighbour shifts a little before deciding to approach you slowly, his arms loosely wrapping around your small frame and pulling you into a surprisingly gentle hug, you can already tell from this alone that he isn't good at comforting people but at least he's trying and that makes everything feel a little less crappy.

"Who did this to you? What did they look like?"
