Chapter 11

Your POV

Thud.

I exhaled sharply as the falling sensation vanished and light returned. Pain flared across my back, which had taken the brunt of the fall. I knew that tomorrow there would be an ugly bruise there. Wincing, I rubbed my back, red slowly creeping across my skin.  Sighing, I rolled over and slowly got up, arms aching. I slowly walked over to the nearest fallen body, Valt's.

'Valt,' I whispered, bending over. When he didn't respond, I started to shake his arm lightly. 'Valt. Wake up, Valt!'

'Beybreads,' Valt sighed dreamily, tilted his head to one side as saliva drooled out of his open mouth. I bit my lip, trying not to retch at the sight.

'Why are you always thinking about your stomach, Valt?'

'(y/n)!' Valt whined, exasperated. 'I'm just hungry!'

'Yeah, yeah, whatever,' I rolled my eyes. 'Normally I would give you food, but our backpacks must've gotten lost in the fall.'

'But there was really important stuff in there!' Valt complained loudly, tugging at my shirt sleeve.

'Like what, food?' I snorted.

'I can't battle on an empty stomach, you know that!'

'Who says you're going to battle? Look, we come, find out about Shu, then leave.'

'But-'

'Will you guys shut it?' A voice rose angrily. We both paused and looked at the rest of the party, whom we've forgotten about in the midst of our argument. Cuza, Honcho and Wakiya were still getting up, all groaning from the impact they had taken. Daigo stood up and marched over to us. 'We are on a mission, have you forgotten that? Yes, (y/n), that's what you were saying, but different people function differently. Here Valt, I still have my bag. You can have some bread. I know both of you are stressed given the situation, but we have to remain calm and work together. Otherwise we lose Shu.'

Silence hung over our group at those words. I looked over the blunette, who was hungrily munching on some bread, and I felt a pang of guilt. Daigo was right. And it didn't help that we haven't eaten since at least four hours ago. 'I-I'm sorry.'

Daigo briefly nodded before speaking again. 'It's fine, (y/n).'

'Guys, I have a question,' Honcho inquired, pointing up. 'The hole that we fell in has disappeared. We can't escape the way we came in. But where the hell are we?'

I looked around, having forgotten about where we were. We were in some sort of indoor jungle, with vines and trees. Wild flowers were everywhere, emitting strange smells. Unfamiliar shrubbery were littered everywhere, each one looking particularly dangerous. There was a clear path however, where bushes weren't clogging the path. It seemed like it lead to a clearing. Raising a finger, I pointed towards the clearing. 'Look over there.'

'It's...a clearing?' Cuza inhaled sharply, astonished. 'I-I think I see a door!'

We all simultaneously began running towards the clearing, and as we got closer I saw the door. It was a huge, wooden one with ornate patterns and silver, yellow gemstones used as decorations. I reached out to take ahold of the handle, when a rumbling sound echoed throughout the chamber. I glanced behind, where a stadium was rising out of the ground. A masked figure with yellow lenses stepped forwards.

'Leaving so soon?' Yellow Eye smirked. He thrusted out his bey, a dark version of a familiar looking bey. Shadow Rokatvor. To my side, I saw Honcho gulp ever so slightly. 'Alright, which one of you are the owner of Beserk Rokatvor?'

'I am,' Honcho swallowed, stepping forward, thrusting out his own bey. 'Let's battle.'

Yellow Eye nodded, winding Shadow Rokatvor on his launcher before crouching down into his launching position. Honcho grinned slightly and followed suit. I walked towards the stadium and lowered my hand.

'Ready? Set!'

'3 2 1! Let it rip!'

---------------

Three and a half hours had passed ever since we had come down here. Honcho lost his battle, but luckily Daigo, Cuza and Valt had won. I sighed in relief as we exited out the cold terrain of Azure Eye, Valt's opponent. Now we were back in the same old corridor, vines creeping along the moss-covered stones. I couldn't shake the feeling at the back of my head telling me that I was going to battle next. Biting my lip, I wondered how the chamber would look. Each one so far were equally exotic, and they all targeted the Bey Club's weaknesses. I desperately hope that I wouldn't walk into a room with posters of Shu plastered all over. That would be absolutely horrible.

'Welcome, victims,' a sickly sweet voice cackled. I snapped my head out of my thoughts and realized I had walked into the chamber without noticing. This had to be my battle. Looking around, my brow furrowed when I realized it was just a plain room with metal panels. 'Ah, (y/n). You're probably wondering why this chamber wasn't designed to test you're weakness. But maybe the opponent is your weakness.'

A masked figure emerged out of the shadows, her long violet hair swishing, amber lenses shielding her eyes and identity. I gritted my teeth as a smirk stretched on her face. 'Who are you?'

'Oh my,' she tutted, walking forward towards the stadium with a devilish look gloating on her face. 'Don't say you forgot about your old enemy again?'

I inhaled sharply as Amber Eye removed her mask with one quick movement. My mouth flung agape a the reveal of the familiar face. Her amber eyes gleamed at my shock,  like a predator hunting her prey. Her porcelain face contorted into a sneer, feasting on my lack of speech. Lips curling upward venomously, she gave a frightening laugh. 'You don't look so good, do you, dear (y/n)?'

I certainly didn't feel too good. Blood rushed to my head as I recounted the last time I had seen her. Trapped, weak, unable to do anything. Instead of collapsing, I forced myself to keep consciousness and I adopted a look of confusion and horror.

'M-Mei?'
