Misuzu stood by Mio. The execution button was pressed so the chain was already activated. A button dropped into Saero's hands and a chain wrapped around Misuzu's neck. When she was about to get pulled when she grabbed Mio by the neck.

Curiosity Killed The Cat

There was a swarm of cats, but there was a single robot cat the carried the chain. The cat followed a trail of bloody cat fur. The cat followed the trail and so did Misuzu. Misuzu's arms we're still wrapped around Mio's neck. The cat kept walking until it's stepped on a trap. The trap activated and they fell into a pit of dead cats.
