Chapter 1
{Welcome to book 3! This whole book will be in the eldest daughters P.O.V. Skylark. Lets go!}
I walked into the manor early in the morning, siblings in tow. "Morning minna!" I shouted. I got several greetings and several grunts about it being to early. I walked to the bar and hopped up in a barstool. My brothers sat to one side and my sister on the other. "No school today Kyleigh?" Mira asked. She had aged gracefully like mom, and since her hair was ready white, you could hardly tell. "Summer break starts today." My sister said with a smile. She had her short black and he hair pulled back in a head band, like mom used to.
"You got any jobs Mira?" I asked, causing her to chuckle. "Never a break huh?" I grinned and shook my head. "I like being busy." She shuffled around before pulling out a folder for me. I opened it and read through. "Steal a grand diamond." "High Security." "Guards will shoot on sight." "Only in town for two more night." The twins read over my shoulder. Though they switched back and forth when they spoke they sounded like one person. If I hadn't known them for 18 years, I never would have been able to tell them apart.
"I will go tonight then." I said with a smile. Kyleigh was fidgeting nervously. "Sky-nii, are you sure you'll be ok?" I smiled and ruffled her hair. "Absolutely." She didn't stop fidgeting. "Be carful ok? Iv got a bad feeling." I nodded. Her hunches were usually right, so I would take extra care tonight. A large hand clapped my back and I looked up to meet crimson eyes and grey streaked black hair. I grinned. "Hey daddy." He huffed a little and messed my hair, earning a grumble from me.
"I wish you wouldn't do that." I huffed as I combed through my hair with my fingers. "Deal with it princess." I flushed a little, earning a snicker from the boys. He always called me that when I was a kid, and now only did it to embarrass me. I hopped up and lightly shoved him as I headed out to get ready for my job. I had my own flat in town, ironically it was the same flat my mom had before she and dad got together.
I walked in and began gathering things in a black duffle. Ammo, lockpicks, glass cutting tools, my hand gun and arrows. I always got funny looks, carrying around a bow here in the 21st century, but I was more comfortable with it than any weapon. And this bow was special to me, dad had helped me make it. It was sleek and black, white a dragon carved into it. I have had it for nearly ten years now.
Once everything was packed I decided to go back to sleep so I would be fresh for the job. It was late evening when I woke up. I pulled on a black stealth suit. It wasn't as clingy as a cat suit but it still would keep me hidden in the shadows. I made sure to put on a bullet proof vest on underneath. I braided my long black hair before pulling it into a bun. The shirt of the stealth suit had a long collar, so I could pull it over my face to keep anonymous. I finally pulled on some black combat boots and headed out the door.
The location was fairly close, a museum exhibit. I quietly cased the building, the diamond was on the third floor, and smack dab in the middle. I watched the guards patrol, trying to find their pattern. When I was sure I got it down I notched an arrow and aimed for the roof. It flew true and imbedded itself deep in the tile. I grabbed the rope I had attached and began scaling the wall. Once I reached a third floor window I peeked in for guards. I dug in my back for the glass cutters and easy entered the building. I stayed in the shadows, with my face covered and waited.
'What happened to heavily guarded?' My gut turned and I got the feeling I should have listened to my sister and skipped this one. I crept through the halls until I reached the exhibit. To say the diamond was huge was an understatement. It was almost the size of a toddlers head. I looked around for cameras and took out each one I saw with an arrow. I waited again, trying to find something in the silence. As I approached the diamond a voice stopped me.
"Shadow girl, I believe that is mine. Please step away." It was a deep voice, and yet, I could tell he was barely older than me. I spun around to find a tall man in a stealth suit. Ok, everyone was tall to me, but he was freakish like my dad and brothers. Short green hair laid about his half covered face and silver eyes stared at me. I glared at him as I stood straight, "Havnt you heard of ladies first? It's the gentlemanly thing to do." He chuckled. "Well I'm not a gentleman." My turn to chuckle, "Gihee, atleast your honest."
Time to use my tinyness and speed to my advantage. I easily kicked the glass container into pieces and grabbed the diamond. Alarms were sounding but I was already out of the room and down the hall. I tucked the diamond into my bag as I ran. Bullets whizzed past me and I saw the shooter was the silver eyes man. I lept into the window as three bullets hit my back. I was so glad for my vest. The force caused me to tumble out the window and towards the hard ground.
I have never been so happy about trees. Below the window was a large tree and as I fell, I grabbed one of it's branches, dislocating my shoulder. I let go and hit the ground running. Guards were rushing inside, the alarms had drowned out the glass breaking. Once I was far enough away I stopped and looked to the museum. Who the hell was that?!
