Chapter 8
The doors swung open and we were met with silence. Everyone poured out of the manor and vanished into the streets and alleyways. A few stayed behind to guard the manor and prepare for the wounded. Jay stuck close to me as we quietly walked through the alley. Gun fire could be heard in the distance but it was short lived. I peeked around the corner and smirked as I saw three Phantom members. I pulled the shot gun off my back and stepped around the corner. They hit the ground with holes in their chest and I smirked. "Bastards."
We walked again, I nearly shot someone as they nearly ran into us. "Mindy you scared the crap out of me!" I whispered loudly. The blue haired girl giggled lightly. "Mindy is sorry. Have you seen your brother?" she asked. I smirked knowing she meant Slate. "He headed south from the manor, check around the warehouses." she nodded and scurried off. We continued deeper into the city, and I started to feel uneasy. "It's to damn quiet." Jay said and I nodded. I went to round a corner but stopped and backed up. "Looks like we found their base." I whispered.
"We need to regroup before heading in... The two of us can't take them." Jay said quietly. I hated to admit it but he was right. We backed up and hurried back towards the manor. It was insight when bullets whizzed by my head. Jay grabbed my shoulder and pulled me around a corner. I pulled my hand guns free and aimed around the corner. A group of Phantom members was at the end of the alley, all armed with heavy gunpower. I emptied both clips at them, ducking back as they fired. Jay reached around to shoot as I replaced my clips. We kept rotating like that until they were all down.
I grinned at him. "Nice sho-" my eyes widened as I got a good look at him. He leaned against the wall, holding his stomach. He grinned a little as blood trickled out if the corner of his mouth. Three bullets had gone clean through him and he was losing a lot of blood. I dropped my gun and tore his shirt away from his wounds. I used the pieces try and stop the bleeding. "Don't bother Shadow... You have to get back..." he coughed. "I'm not leaving you. Your coming back with me." he tried to laugh but he coughed again. "Im not losing you..." I whispered. I'm not sure when, but somewhere in the short time iv know him, I fell hard. I couldn't just let him die here.
I put his arm around my shoulders and lifted him. I was nearly two feet shorter so I was nearly dragging him. As I neared the manor Kyleigh rushed out and helped me drag him inside. Phoenix took him from there to the infirmary. "Laxus." I called as I walked to him. "We found their base." He nodded and began calling back our members. Once they were all gathered I lead the pack of gun toting murderous gangsters through the alleyways Jay and I took. Slate and mom were directly behind me, my brother had a katana similar to out dad's black one and it was covered in blood.
Once we got close everyone spread out, forming a circle around the base. The three of us, mom, Slate and I, stepped out of the alley and got Phantoms attention. "Well well, if it isn't the Redfoxs." A man that practically screamed slime said as he stepped forward. His long dark hair was pulled back and he had a long mustache. "Tell me, was Gajeel still breathing when they dragged his body back?" He sneered and I growled. My hands tightened on the handle of my short blades. "He's gotten rusty in his old age. And you children have made him soft. I was easily able to take him out."
I snapped. "You bastard!!" I dashed forward, my mom calling after me. Phantom members charged at me, but as gun fire rang out, they dropped like flies in front of me. "Take that bastard out!" I heard Asuka shout from a roof top. I smirked as the man stared at me wide eyed.
He barely had time to drawn a blade of his own as is slashed at him. Our blades clashed and blood was drawn as I kept up my attack. His blade bit my skin but the adrenaline coursing through me kept me numb. He stabbed for me as I stabbed for him. I didn't quite fell it as it plunged into my stomach. He cried out as my sword stabbed through his chest. He staggered back, pulling his sword from me. He fell to his knees, holding his chest.
"You have learned the hard way, Don Jose." I said darkly. "You do not fuck with the fairies." I spat at him. He shook, his eyes wide in fear. "M-mercy!" My eyes narrowed. "For what you have done, you deserve no mercy." I growled. I took my sword and slashed out. His body fell while his head rolled away. I was vaguely aware that the fighting around me had died away. I thought I heard someone shout my name but my world was slowly turning dark.
