Chapter Three
One hour later, after Iris had woken up and had a mini existential crisis; she was finally calm. Or at least, as calm as she could be in that situation. She now sat in the 'playroom' and was currently sitting against a wall with Jordan sitting on her knee. She was watching Tom and Tucker wrestling on the ground. Sonja had given up on trying to break them apart and had opted for taking a nap on Iris' lap. Which she had to admit, was ridiculously adorable.
"So, this sorta things normal for them?" Iris asked Jordan and looked down at him curiously. He shrugged and nodded.
"It happens at least once every few days, if that's what you mean."
"Don't they get hurt?"
"Nah, they don't actively try to hurt each other, it's more like play fighting. At least, I think. Its either that or they're both pathetically weak."
Iris snickered quietly. Jordan was surprisingly sarcastic and relaxed when speaking to her. The others (or at least Tucker and Sonja) spoke cautiously and with respect, like she'd destroy them if they offended her. It was amusing at the very least.
"It looks like they're having fun at least.. If it makes them happy." She shrugged. "So Jordan," he turned to her as she called his name, "what's up with you and Tom? You to seem awfully close." She grinned teasingly as Jordan blushed a bit and rubbed at the back of his neck.
"O-oh, we're just good friends! Why'd you ask?"
"Good friends hm? More like boyfriends.~" Iris laughed as Jordan blushed more and stammered, trying to deny it. "No need to hide it. I'm pretty sure that he wouldn't mind being more than friends either." She smiled.
"You think?" Jordan asked as he turned his gaze back to Tom, who was currently trying to throw Tucker off of his back.
"I'm at least seventy-two percent sure."
"That's not really promising.."
She shrugged. "It's better than nothing, yeah?"
"I guess.."
Iris was about to say something but a familiar thumping that was coming from inside the hall interrupted her. "Oh no.."
"What's wrong?"
"Danny and Michael are coming."
At Jordan's confused look, she remembered that they didn't really know who they were and apologized. "I mean Dianite and Mianite."
"Wait, Dianite's gonna show up?" Tom called out, sitting up from his position on the ground.
"And Mianite too?" Tucker asked eagerly.
Iris nodded and Jordan reached over and shook Sonja awake. She sat up and yawned as the door to the playroom swung open, revealing Danny and Michael shoving and pushing each other to try and get in first. The sudden opening of the door had startled Jordan and he'd slid off of her leg and hid behind her. 'It's reasonable I guess, Jordan didn't really have the best experiences with Dianite..' She thought to herself.
"Iris! Michael was being mean to me!"
"Nu-uh! Danny was being mean to me!"
"DIANITE!" Tom shouted excitedly, running over and wrapping his arms around Danny's leg as much as he could. "Hey man! Nice to meet you in person finally! You seem a hell of a lot younger than I imagined but that's cool!"
Danny and Michael immediately fell silent, staring at Tom as he hugged Danny's leg.
"Something wrong man? You seem kinda freaked out." Tom looked up at him curiously.
"..Iris? Is Tom..talking and hugging me?" Danny looked up at Iris questioningly.
As she nodded, Danny looked down back at Tom and smiled before reaching down and picking him up, hugging him tightly. "AWESOME!"
"Uh Danny? I think you're crushin' him.." And Michael was right, Tom was squirming and struggling to get free of Danny's incredibly strong grip.
"Ghk! Look, Dianite bro, I'm happy to see you too! But could you lemme go before I suffocate?"
"Opps! Sorry Tom..you ok?" Danny set Tom down gently sitting down next to him as Tom panted and put a hand on his chest.
"Yeah..yeah I'm alright. Just gimme a sec, yeah?"
"Wait, does this mean Tucker and Sonja are alive too?!" Michael asked excitedly.
Jordan poked his head from behind her and nodded, pointing to behind Danny, where Sonja and Tucker were standing awkwardly. They saw Michael look at them and they waved.
"Cool!" He stepped behind Danny, who was still fretting over Tom and sat down next to his 'followers'. "Hi guys!" he waved eagerly. "How're you guys doin'?"
Jordan, at this point, had gained at least a bit of bravery and had now moved back onto Iris' lap. She smiled down at him as they watched the 'gods' interact with their followers.
