Chapter 21: Where I'll Stay
Just a head's up, but I'm gonna stop putting the last name of the Zacks'. Assume it's the main Zack unless I use "Henderson," to show it's not the main Zack.
Zack's POV~
My head was aching, and I was expecting the cold ground and the slight smell of a wet forest when I woke up. However, my senses felt other things instead. I awoke to what felt to be a comfortable bed.
I shot up, hoping that the things that have happened within the past week was all a bad dream. Then I could tell Brian how I feel. But it seems my hopes were crushed. Sure, I was in a bed, but I can tell this is not the Northern Light's Pack house. In fact, I don't know if this is a packhouse at all. For all I know, somebody might've picked me up and is now trying to keep me as a pet when they found me in fox form.
I looked around me to see if I can find anything that will tell me where I am. All I found was photos of a werewolf I haven't seen before. So, there's a good chance I'm in a pack house. Wait, can Rogue's have houses? Am I being kept by a rogue?!
As soon as I thought that, I hear and see the door open to reveal the same wolf that was in the photo.
(Used an avatar maker to make this.)
I back away from him in fear of what he'd do. He got closer to me as I backed away in fear, remembering what happened last time I had an encounter with a rogue.
"Hey, hey, calm down. I'm not going to hurt you." Those words were calming and gentle. I didn't trust them though. He tried to touch me, but my fight instinct came to use as I slapped his hand away. Very hard too if it actually hurt him a bit.
He sighed to himself before hearing a knock at the door he came from. From the other side, I heard a familiar voice.
"John, how about you let him talk to someone he's familiar with?" John opened the door and let in a familiar, blue colored werewolf in.
"Been awhile, hasn't it Zack?" There stood the alpha of the Lunar Star Pack, Liz. She came over to my side and reached her hand out. I took it hesitantly as she pulled me to my feet. My stomach than growled and I groaned in pain as I did.
She frowned a bit before looking to the werewolf supposedly named John.
"I'll talk to him for now. And maybe send him back to Brian later. Just wait." John nodded and stepped out of the way. Liz motioned her hand to follow her as I quickly made my way behind her, trying to be careful of the other tall werewolf that owned the room.
We walked down the hallways of the packhouse and made it to the office. Damn, I haven't been here since that one time I tried to escape and mistook the pack territory for human civilization. She sat down at her desk and pointed to the chair in front of it.
"Sit here. I want to talk." I just nodded.
As soon as I sat down, a strong aroma filled the room and I looked to the direction of it. From another door, to the right of the room, came Ella. If I remember correctly, she's the mate of Liz. Which was proven correct as Liz took the basket of garlic and normal, fresh baked bread from her and pecked her cheek.
"Thank you, babe. Please leave us alone so we can talk." Ella nodded and waved bye to me before leaving from the way she came.
Liz brought the basket of bread over to the desk and pushed it towards me. "Help yourself. Ella made it for you after seeing the condition you were in."
Liz sat down at her desk and folded her hands together and stared at me from the other side with a stern look. "Speaking of which, why were you in that burrow? I know Brian well enough to know he doesn't exactly let go of the things he loves so easily. So he would've found you in no time. So why were you out there?"
Her questions flooded my thoughts as I are the bread that was provided for me. I tried to gain control of my sadness as she mentioned Brian.
She gave me a look of concern before moving the chair from her side of the table to my side as she sat beside me and rubbed my back.
"Take your time, Buddy. Tell me when you're ready."
I nodded to her statement and tried to control my breathing and tears as I tried my best to eat the bread, as well as try not to choke. After regaining myself, I told her everything. Leaving her shocked, to say the least.
"I... I see. I know Brian is smart, but what the hell was he thinking releasing you out near the humans? I guess the amount of emotions he must've been going through may have caused him to react before thinking. It's a shame that you were trapped with him, only to find he wasn't the one for you. Plus, for someone who's half human, it must be hard after you finally fell for him." I nodded my head sadly as he said all that. She rubbed my back more and went back to her side of the desk.
"So, it is already obvious that we can't let you out into the human civilization. You're half werefox now, meaning you're no longer able to fully call yourself human. If you even can at all." I nod my head at what she was saying.
"Having you out in the human civilizations will cause us werewolves to be found out by people who aren't hunters. And then more hunters will be made. And that's the last thing we want." I nod my head again as she continued.
"So, Zack, in order to keep both you and the existence of us werewolves safe, I'm welcoming you to the pack. So, as the alpha of the Lunar Star pack, I welcome you. Please treat us nicely as we will with you." I nodded my head and hugged Liz.
"Thank you for giving me a place." She chuckled before pushing me off her with a smile.
"No problem, Buddy. Since you're still young, and since we don't know what your role in the pack will be yet, you'll be staying with John. He's the guy you came across earlier. And don't worry. Despite his looks, he's a really chill guy."
I nod my head, looking down guiltily about the whole thing from earlier where I slapped his hand out of fear. Liz then walked me back to the room where he was before. When we got there, he was indeed still there. Liz left me here and went back to her alpha duties.
There was an awkward silence before I felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking at John, he smiled down at me gently.
"Welcome to the pack."
Brian's POV~
The next day came around and it was still the same. I'm getting really tired of this Zack's attitude. There's been a few times I've literally wanted to rip him apart. It's not only me, however. A lot of the members of the pack hate him. Even Eric who already has a hatred for the pack itself.
I walked over to the room where Henderson was. He was lifting weights in the weight room of the pack house. I walked in and told everyone to get out.
"Henderson, we need to talk." I said with an alpha tone.
"About what?" He said rudely, making my eye twitch in anger a bit. I took a deep breath and relaxed myself.
"You need to chill with your attitude. You are failing to show you can be a good luna." Zack just chuckled before laughing.
"You're funny. Me? Act like a Luna? Please. The point in a luna is to tell the omega's what to do as the alpha tells them how to get it done right. And if you ask me, you're not the best at being an alpha." My eye twitches in anger at his statement. I am a good alpha. I don't need him telling me otherwise.
"Look, I'm already aware. We both are. You hate me. And honestly, I don't much like you either. But that doesn't matter, does it? Because we're matched up by the moon goddess or whatever." I stayed silent as he said that. He then continued on with a sarcastic tone in his voice.
"We're a match made in Heaven. We're going to care for each other and continue this pack with more generations of wolves." At this point, he was straight up mocking me. I knew if I listened further, I'd do something I'd regret, so I just left. I walked all the way back to Blake and Christian's room.
They were both surprised at this, but I grabbed Blake's arm without warning and pulled him outside.
"What's wrong, Brian? You don't seem well." I sighed to myself before continuing.
"Alpha's command. And keep this a secret between us. Go find Zack Andrews and bring him back."
