Chapter 24: An Alpha's Malice

Warning: Violence and graphic words used in this chapter.

Zack's POV~

I was staying still between the two werewolves, both of them glaring at each other. I decided to interrupt the awkward silence between them. Stumbling on what I was even going to say.

"So... How's the luna?" I said awkwardly, with a little pain too, considering what I've been through.

In a dark voice, I hear Brian reply.

"We don't discuss them."

That was the most malicious sound I've ever heard from Brian. I mean, malicious to the point even John was surprised.

Brian took a deep breath and cleared his throat, and hesitantly invited us over to the couch that the two of us used to lay on to cuddle, before all that had happened. He went over to his fridge and handed John a bottle of water, and me a bottle of my favorite soda. He knows what I liked and didn't like in the span of a year. It's a little hard to not break down right now.

Brian took some time to keep himself calm. I think I accidentally struck a nerve by bringing up the Luna. I never really found out what they were like, aside from them being a rogue at first.

John was holding me tightly, which I don't think helped the situation. I could see it in Brian's eyes that he still loves me. And I think more than ever he wants to bring me back. But that Luna is in the way of that, and even if he is the Alpha, due to the moon goddess, there's nothing he can do.

Brian looked over at me with a look of pity.

"Zacky- er... Zack. Mr. Andrews. Whichever you'd like to be called... I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left you in the woods. I was just trying to return you back to human society. But I completely forgot about how the time here at the Northern Lights pack changed you. Both mentally and physically. I know what I did was wrong. I sent my beta out to find you so I can apologize to you. I know what happened is unforgivable. And... if there's any way I can gain your forgiveness, please tell me."

I gulped with the amount of pressure of the situation. He means it. I know he means it. I know he didn't want this. I mean, every werewolf here probably fears whatever kind of "Divine Punishment" the moon goddess has. I mean, it's no different than humanity and their fear of whatever god they worship can do to them. I won't hold it against him since it seems werewolf beliefs are more strict. And I have no choice but to believe this wolf goddess or whatever exists. How else would I have become this half fox thing?

I want to ask for the things I obviously can't have. I can't ask Brian to love me instead of his Luna. And even if he does, he can't just accept me and abandon his Luna. No matter how much hate there is. Alpha's are always put on the spot. Everything they do can affect the pack. I thought hard about what he can do. And something came to mind.

I sat my soda down and got off the couch, and walked towards him. John was nervous, but let me go anyway. I walked over to Brian and hugged him, which I'm sure surprised him too.

"I forgive you. But promise me something, okay?"

Brian nodded, and couldn't help but nuzzle into me as he hugged me back.

"I promise. What do you want?"

I leaned into him more. I missed this feeling.

"Don't be a stranger. Call me Zack. Or call me Zacky. Whichever you want. Just, treat me as a friend since you can't treat me as a lover. I can't ask you for your love because I know you won't be able to due your circumstance as alpha. But even if you can't love me, please, take some time every now and then to visit me at the Lunar Star pack."

I felt what felt like tears fall onto my shoulder. I felt Brian's grip tighten slightly.

"I promise. Thank you for understanding. I'm so sorry..."

Brian continued to cry as he hugged me. I stayed by his side to comfort him. After about 5 minutes, Brian collected himself.

We separated the long hug and I went back to John's side. Once Brian had collected himself, he went back to the fridge and grabbed another bottle of soda and a different kind, handing it to John.

"For the trip back. And you."

Brian looked over at John. They once again glared at each other, but Brian's softened. It looked sad though. He grabbed John's hand.

"You better take care of Zacky. If something happens to him, you'll deal with me." John kind of smirked, looking as if he had just won an argument.

"I'll take good care of him. A lot better than a certain alpha." John said with a smirk.

Brian growled slightly, but with a smile.

I got in between them.

"Okay, enough of that. I think it's time we go home." I said with a nervous smile.

The two of them nod, and we headed to the door, but before we could, the door opened to reveal the other Zack. Henderson.

"Ey, Alpha. Need more gym equipment. I broke it."

Okay, I can see why Brian was mad. This Zack if obviously very arrogant and didn't care about anything. He even kicked the door open, leaving a few crack in it. I mean, I guess that's the power a werewolf would have.

I felt something behind me. It was a very dark aura. This was even more malicious than the aura that came off Brian earlier. I looked and saw it was John. He was shaking. In anger. But I didn't know why. John roughly grabbed my arm and started to drag me out. It was then the Luna noticed us and smirked.

"It's been awhile, hasn't it alpha J?" John didn't stop. He kept going. As if he was about do something he'd regret.

"It was entertaining watching the Violet Thorn's pack burn."

John went faster, his growling becoming more ominous every time that Luna said something.

"And watching your mate burn with it."

John stopped. He was trembling with rage. It made me shake in fear.

John rushed back at the Luna and started clawing him. The two of them fought, biting at each other and scratching each other, the both of them shedding a lot of blood. Brian and I both looked scared as to what to do.

I ran over to John and the Luna.

"Stop it! Let's go home, John!"

It was then I saw a claw come my way, and I got scratched by the Luna. Badly.

Tears filled my eyes from the pain. I felt blood run down my face and head. I reached to see the damage and my hand was covered in red. John looked at me with surprise.

"Oh my god, Zack! Your ear! It's barely attached!"

Henderson looked at me with disgust.

"That's what he gets for getting in the way."

Tears filled my eyes as I kept losing blood. John rushed over to me, taking off his now very torn shirt and putting it against my scratch.

The room got dark. Not literally, but it felt like it. John and I watched Brian walk up to the Luna, grabbing him by the neck.

"You don't deserve to be in this pack. You should've never came here to begin with."

There was a look a fear and panic in the eyes of Henderson. He clawed at Brian's arm, making Brian's arm shed blood, but it seems Brian was unaffected.

"C-Come on, alpha. I-I'm your Luna! Y-you're supposed to take care of me and love me!"

Brian tightened his hold.

"No one would ever love a brat like you."

He then threw Henderson back against the wall, which is a large window. The window shattered as Henderson was thrown out. He landed on the ground, still alive, but very much injured. Nothing broken though.

"You're not my Luna. And I won't accept you as my Luna. I don't care anymore about the damn goddess. You're not my mate. You're just a bitch. Leave. You're not welcome here anymore."

With an audible whine, Henderson ran off with a slight limp. Brian turned to us. But more towards John.

"I'll let you off the hook for now, but I suggest you leave. I won't tolerate it again. Even if that bitch deserved it."

John nodded, scared. It was then Brian looked at me. I flinched, scared he was upset at me. With the aura coming off him, I was scared he was upset with everyone.

He got down to my level, his menacing aura fading a bit.

He held the cloth on my ear to stop the bleeding a bit. He held me close to him and whispered in my ear.

"You're going to be my Luna. Now that he's gone, I'm coming for you. I don't care about the goddess anymore. I'll take better care of you. But for now, go. You're badly injured."

I felt butterflies in my stomach when he said that. John quickly grabbed me, holding his shirt to my ear to stop the bleeding. I felt the pain and tears continued to fall from the pain.

"Don't worry, Zack! We'll get you fixed up! Just stay with me!" I nodded as he carried me back to the Lunar Star pack. But it was hard to stay awake as the blood continued to spill.

I ended up closing my eyes. Passing out.

A/N: (He isn't dead, don't worry.)
