Elysium: Heart To Heart Talk With The System

The next day,

After Juviel carefully covered the sleeping Fu Hua with a blanket, he got out of the Dorm and went to wake up the other Hua. To his surprise, he could actually choose any location within a 10m distance from where he had entered the Dorm, to return to.

[Here, a pic of Kalsfer:

]
What he hadn't expected to see was Kalsfer who was in the next room busy with.. Her hands. Her face flushed and her breathing heavy.

Juviel, knowing no shame decided to keep watch-

“Of course not, I'm a man with respect.”

So he decided to pretend he didn't see her masturbating and minded his own business. Now he was certain she could hear through the sound proof walls and heard everything that had happened last night.

He didn't feel even a hint of embarrassment after knowing this, but he decided to soundproof it further.. This was in consideration for Hua's privacy, he was sure that she didn't want to be heard while they were being intimate.. Her little heart might just explode out of embarrassment.

He didn't mind if it were Kalsfer, but he did mind if Hua gets sad as a result. Thus he decided to soundproof it. But before he could think any further about his decision, the System interrupted his thoughts.

[I have a better suggestion, would you be interested?]

Raising an eyebrow, Juviel nodded.

“Sure.”

The System spoke with her usual cold, almost mechanical voice, though there seemed to be a hint of fatigue. He wanted to ask what happened, but she spoke up before he could.

[Whenever you are doing it, I can handle the soundproofing in exchange for SP. I can ensure that even if the Final Herrscher were outside the door, she still wouldn't be able to hear anything.]

Juviel felt odd, afterall the System sounded like she was trying to find new side hustles recently. Thinking about it, she seemed to have developed a massive need for Salvation Points? He noted that in his mind and spoke up very frankly.

“System, please don't beat around the bush. Did something happen?”

The System fell silent, not sure whether she should tell him anything or not. But hearing his sincere tone, she relented and spoke with a sigh.

[I am injured.]

Juviel's eyes widened in shock, “What? How could that be possible? Was it from the time we dealt with the First Eruption?”

The System let out a “hm” as an affirmation, but also added something he never heard from her before.

[I was already damaged before that due to using a technique. Establishing a temporary connection with an entity of that scale only rubbed salt to the wound, thus I had no choice but to rest at that time.]

Juviel fell silent, what kind of a technique had she used that put her in such a state? And why had she done it? These were all questions he wanted to ask, but from the tone and subtle implications, he knew she was reluctant to tell him about the technique itself.

So he didn't press any further about it, but that didn't mean he had no other questions.

“That doesn't explain the sudden need for Salvation Points, something must have happened recently. Was it due to establishing and cutting off the connection between me and Sa?”

Juviel thought this to be the most likely reason for her fatigue, but he had to reconsider it when he heard the System's scornful voice.

[You jest, she was but a worm.]

Juviel was speechless,

“I don't know who embezzled most of the Salvation Points as compensation.”

[... She was but a leech. But indeed she had aggravated my injuries a tiny bit, but it wasn't much, it recovered with just a fraction of the SP we got at that time. The rest were used to recover from the damage caused by the Cocoon.]

“Wait wait! Stop avoiding the question! Since you have already recovered from the damage inflicted by the Cocoon and Sa, why the sudden need for Salvation Points?”

The System fell silent, but still answered with a hint of happiness in her voice, which quickly got covered up by her usual emotionless voice.

[Sa was inconsequential, nothing but a homeless Divinity. The only thing remarkable about her is her Divinity, given enough time she can grow up to be a fierce adversary to the Cocoon.]

“.. That's not the question, though?”

Normally Juviel would have moved on since the System seemed to be intentionally avoiding answering the question, but today he had a gut feeling that this was a very important step in building a bond with the System.

The System sighed and helplessly spoke,

[Fine. Terminus keeps asking to meet you, I'm stopping them from simply appearing here. But Terminus’ mere presence is reversing time, so I have to constantly negate the effects to ensure that doesn't happen. In addition to this, Terminus’ appearance has caused a problem in my Technique and if it isn't fixed soon..]

“If it isn't fixed what would happen?”

[Well.. Then I would be forced to use my Technique again to fix it and go into a slumber for an unknown amount of time if I'm lucky. If I'm not, I could even die. The SP ensures that we can atleast survive.]

Juviel's eyes widened in horror, it was that serious!? While the fact that Terminus kept asking to meet him was baffling and mind boggling, he was more worried about the System rather than why Terminus wanted to meet him again.

And before he knew it, he accidentally blurted out something ridiculous.

“Take all of my Salvation Points!”

Juviel didn't take it back, nor did he feel regret. After thinking about it, he thought there was nothing wrong with that. But the System thought otherwise, as he heard her speak in her usual cold emotionless voice, but with a hint of anger and reproach in it.

[Are you crazy? Without the SP you will die! Law of Space-Time, Law of Fate, the Equilibrium, the Nihility, the Cocoon and Sa, all of these things want you dead!]

Juviel would be lying if he said he didn't feel deterred when the System said this. The mere presence of existences like the Equilibrium could kill him over a million times, what more about the rest of the things mentioned? He did feel fear.

He was only human afterall, but, it was exactly because he was human that he could be selfish. The fear was a good deterrent, but he was more afraid of losing her.

“Am I Juviel, Enemy of the Equilibrium? Or am I Juviel, wielder of the Salvation System? What nonsense, without you by my side, would it even be worth being any of that? With or without Salvation Points, my chances of coming out alive are miniscule.”

Juviel knew that without the System, his chances of living after angering the Equilibrium was practically zero. But this wasn't only about ensuring his survival, it was also about helping the one that helped him. The one who gave him all he had, whether it be peace or strength, he couldn't have gotten either of them without her.

So when she needed his help, why should he remain silent!?

The System fell silent, she would be lying if she said she wasn't touched. She was testing him by saying that, to see if he would back down. But seeing that he didn't, she was very happy. Nonetheless it didn't stop her from feeling miserable, as his System she was supposed to be capable of handling this type of technicalities and help him focus on growing stronger instead of handling this type of labour.

But she couldn't do so, while she was lamenting at her own weakness in silence, not wanting to burden Juviel, his voice woke her up from her chain of thought.

“Besides, knowing you, there must be another solution, right?”

The System was startled, that was true. She recalled all 3 solutions for stabilising the Supreme Prison and thought about them carefully. Each of those options were near impossible and costly to accomplish. However, the most costly and.. Merciful way was the 3rd one. That way they wouldn't need to kill Kevin's sister.

One might say that resetting the timeline would be more costly but it wasn't the case, instead it was the least costly. She just needed to let Space-Time and Fate do their thing; returning things back to how they were when changed.

Unfortunately, she would need to make some tweaks to the Supreme Prison to do that to avoid Juviel getting erased along with it. So it was still costly, and extremely time consuming. She estimated that if she didn't speed up the process, the timeline would only reset after approximately a year. During the process she would need to seperate a portion of her powers to protect Juviel as well as another to heal herself, which wouldn't really do anything. And could backfire, resulting in Juviel's death.

She didn't want that.

This only left the 3rd option, where the SP from solving 2 Eruptions was barely enough to initiate it and leave a couple of instructions before she would need to sleep for an unknown amount of time.. But he didn't need to know that.

[Yes. I do. But the amount of SP that we have at the moment is not enough at all. We can talk about this after the 3rd Eruption perhaps.]

Juviel finally smiled when he noticed that the fatigue in her voice disappeared. But then he heard her speak up with a bit of remorse.

[I'm sorry, if I had just been a bit more perceptive, this wouldn't have happened.]

Juviel sighed, it seemed that she blamed herself for not being able to notice Terminus’ appearance on time. But then again who would expect the Finality to just spawn like that outta nowhere?

It was completely absurd, especially when Terminus wants to meet him again!

“It's not your fault, System. That's an Aeon after all, nobody can anticipate their behaviour.”

Juviel wasn't sure how to comfort a System, but he tried his best. The System noticed and couldn't help but smile in her space, so she decided to move on. Afterall, Terminus wouldn't be able to surprise them anymore!

[That is true. Let us return to the topic at hand, are you really sure about giving me all of your SP?]

Having already agreed, what more did he have to say?

“Of course I am. Take it all, take as much as you want.”

The System fell silent for a moment before he heard a giggle, since she rarely laughs, it sounded especially wonderful. He quickly snapped out of his daze when she started speaking,

[You can keep it, that much is not enough to restore even 1% of my prowess. So I will be using these Points to solve the problem caused by Terminus.. Will that be alright?]

He was surprised, she was actually asking for his opinion? Juviel suddenly felt a burst of joy, maybe it was because she never actually asked him for his opinion before.

“Sure, I don't mind, wait how many SP do you need to get back to your peak?.”

He was curious, if a 100m SP wasn't enough to get her back to even 1%, how much would she require to reach 100%?

The System fell silent before answering with a bit of uncertainty,

[Uncertain. But I require 7 more Updates to return to my peak.]

“7? 7!? Would you be able to materialise a human body or something after reaching your peak?”

Juviel joked, thinking that wasn't likely since she lacked an incentive for that. But she spoke up against his expectations,

[Yes.]

Juviel fell silent as he recalled her mentioning that she was a girl. But she could actually materialise into a physical form after she is fully Updated?

Now he actually felt motivated to get materials and SP for her Updates.

“I look forward to it~.”

[.. Moving on, after the 3rd Eruption we will attempt to fix the problem caused by Terminus.]

Seeing that she didn't comment on it, he decided to see it as her being too embarrassed to say anything about it.

“Hm? Is the current amount of points not enough?”

[Correct.]

Juviel felt cold sweat dripping down his forehead, nearly 100m SP and it wasn't enough. After 2 Eruptions, it was debatable how much Points he would have but it may reach a billion.

“Wait, are there any rewards for fixing the problem?”

The System fell silent, she didn't think about that part. Though she could deduce the direction of the conversation using calculations, experiencing it was a different matter entirely. Thus..

[Mythic Self-Salvation Quest: Technicalities Preventing Us From Moving Forward!

Aid the System in fixing the problems caused by the appearance of Terminus.

Task 1: Submit all the SP gained from solving the Second Eruption.

Reward: Free Upgrade Card(1 Rank) for any skill under Legendary Rank. Can be used on Valkyries as well.

Task 2: Submit all the SP gained from solving the Third Eruption as well as all the available Points, this includes Points from all the Missions and Quests.

Reward: Dorm Level Up Card(Ignore all Material Requirements and Level it up).

Task 3: Deal with the anomaly caused by Terminus.

Reward: 1 SP

Bonus Rewards: Yet to be calculated.]

Seeing the panel, he had no more complaints.. Of course not!!

“The f*ck is up with the third one!? Only 1SP!?”

The System sounded apologetic as she spoke up in response,

[It is a technical issue afterall, the reward for fixing it is the stability of our future missions. It is only 1 SP because we are trying the solution where we can get by without needing to kill Kevin's sister, who is the anomaly caused by Terminus.]

He didn't know about that before, so he was a bit surprised. So the easier way was to simply kill Ana, but that would probably be going against her duties as the Salvation System. Of course, he didn't want to kill Ana either, she was such a pitiful girl.

His lips curled up as he understood that this mission was more about saving Ana rather than simply solving the problem.

“That's fine by me, there's nothing I can't handle anyways.”

The System was speechless at his arrogance, but decided not to comment on it. Juviel knew the System was constantly trying her best for both of their sake, so he decided to let it go and tease her instead.

“So how was last night? I know you were watching~.”

[... Bring out the proof.]

“Sis, you clearly asked me about the roleplay.”

[Show me proof.]

Now it was his turn to be speechless, where the heck was he supposed to get that if she wanted to be so shameless? If even Fu Hua couldn't see the existence of the System in his memories, could he even get a hold of proof of the System doing something?

“Fine you win.”

Despite feeling a bit frustrated, Juviel clicked on the screen showing Hua's room and tapped on the door. Which made him disappear from the Dorm and appear outside Hua's room.
