it was another sunny day in Hanoi, when enni was sitting in her Financial Economics class next to her fellow classmates. they were lying when they said autumn was here, she thought. air con was totally needed when the class was packed with almost 80 people. everyone looked rather dead, or bored because of the intensity of the course. enni was silently scrolling her phone while her friends were chatting. she went through Gmail just for fun, even though she knew she might come across important news without being able to reply properly because she didn't have her laptop there. and just like that, a bolded texts appeared in top of the inboxes, capturing her full attention:

"f university- EXCHANGE PROGRAMME SPRING 2023 RESULTS"

oh my god. she couldn't help but clicking it right away and skipped until another bolded line appears: "Congratulations, your profile is qualified for the application of Hallym University, Spring 2023!"

she couldn't believe this actually happened, since she had applied two times before for this program to go to Europe but both failed because of her incompetitive gpa. "who cares about gpas now anyway? all those shit are literally fake" her best guy friend in uni said so. she also believed her language ability was underestimated. but now,  it seems like her efforts were paid off, even though Korea is not her first choice. that's right, i'm fucking going!! screaming inside, enni informed her friends and they were so happy for her. 

since the exchange was in Spring 2023, she had to finish her first semester until December 2022 and got on with the paperwork for visa application. from September 2022 to December 2022, there were a lot of things happened. being the current president of a club, she was still in charge of the activites going around. she didn't feel right leaving them behind for a while, but she needed this vacation to know who she is and what she is going to do in the future. enni also got out of a 2-year-relationship with this guy, who was actually very, very nice but let's just say, the love has gone cold for a while due to the business of the two parties. she didn't even have time to be upset about it when November officially marked the shittiest month of her life, including the passings of two family members. and her dad almost losing his life too. enni is scared of phone calls at times, wondering if they announce someone else that she loved is dead.

the visa application wasn't easy to be dealt with too, but with the immense support from her mother, enni was able to get her Korean visa. after going back to her hometown to celebrate Lunar New Year, she spent February 2023 learning to read Korean and meeting friends before she departed to South Korea. 

"oh you're not flying there alone"- her mother said while enni was blabbering about how exciting and terrifying it is to go to a strange country all by yourself.

"what do you mean??"

"we're flying with you."- enni's mom meant her and her aunt. enni groaned, wishing she could be able to experience travelling somewhere far alone. but it is nice to have some company as she doesn't have to place her bet on sitting with a nice or horrible stranger on the plane.

it was 9pm, 21st feb 2023.

enni and her two mothers rushed to the airport, the line was so long it took them 1 hour just to queue up to check-in. after having wandered around the waiting room and falling asleep everywhere, enni and her two mothers finally could get into the plane. as enni was super excited about her next new chapter of her life, she quickly dozed off and then was woken by a baby crying and flight attendants delivering breakfast.
