Lie No. 24

There are two types of lies:

Lies that we tell others,

And lies that we tell ourselves.

The first one is what the human race seems to obsess about for centuries.

You don't want to walk yourself into a pyramid scheme. You don't want to fall head over heels with a gold-digger or a womanizer or an abusive, alcoholic loser. You want to catch your child red-handed for stealing. You want to be one step ahead. You want to be smart, want to recognize the danger and run out of it before too late.

At the height of artificial love and synthetic beings, able to discern a liar is a survival skill.

So we utilize our limited equation and technology, conduct endless deep psychological and physical tests. We publish countless articles and resort to memorized the false tell-tale signs.

Because human is a creature of habit. Because no matter what, our brain functions similar to each other. Because your body speaks for itself.

Despite the results never really is tangible, despite the fact that humans have a 50/50 percent chance of actually able to pin-point a liar in front of us,

We still choose to believe that we are superior to others because we read a BuzzFeed article.

We still think we are on top of the game.

Until the world tears at the seams for the tenth time and you realize you've fallen for the wrong things all over again.

A shame that nobody done any research on how to spot and get away from a self-liar, isn't it?
