Chapter 13: A Nighttime talk

Jan 22nd, nighttime, Fuyuki rooftops

It was dark, it was 9:46 in the afternoon. Nighttime had already come. We find two people standing on top of a skyscraper. It was Makoto and Saber.

Makoto: Saber may I ask why we are up this late.

Saber: I beat through it be good to scout the city. May find where the enemy is.

Makoto: I think it would be impossible to spot them. Though living in a more populated area is a good idea in a sense. Harder to spot and you can't fight them due to the people down there.

Saber sighed.

Saber: I guess your right.

Makoto: In any case I think we should head back. Unless you want to explore a bit more.

Saber: I would like to do the second option, I want to know what this city is like.

Makoto: Understandable.

Saber went over to her master and grabbed onto him. Saber started to leap from building to building while holding onto Makoto. He honestly felt it was weird being carried by a woman.

After a bit of being carried the finally stopped. The both of them were near the Fuyuki bridge. Makoto got an odd sense that some battle took place on the bridge once. He shrugged it off and looked over to Saber. The Servant let out a "hmm" thinking to herself.

Makoto went to the edge to take a look at the bridge seeing the many cars passing on it. Makoto had the feeling due in time civilians would get involved with this war in the future. A sigh escaped his mouth. He looked back over to his servant.

He really didn't know what to say about her. In a normal appearance she just looked like a girl, but her true nature was something else. In the short time he's seen her fight he's noticed that her demeanor changes, one moment she could be this cute friendly girl then the next she could take your head off without batting an eye. It was terrifying to him, he wondered what made her that way.

Makoto: You want to head back home?

Saber: No.

???: You should listen to your master Saber.

Makoto: What the-

Both of them turn to find that it was Caster. It bizarre that Saber couldn't sense in, but in her defense she had little to no magical abilities. Saber drew her sword as Makoto took out a knife, Caster raised his hand in a "stop" motion.

Caster: Now, now. I'm not here to fight. I came here to talk.

Makoto relaxed a bit but kept his hand on the knife while Saber was still pointing her sword at Caster.

Saber: So what do you want?

Caster: I just said I wanted to talk.

Makoto: How do we know this isn't a trick.

Caster: Because I wanted to I could have killed you both in an instant without breaking a sweat.

Saber sighed and lowered her weapon. Like Makoto she kept her hand on it just in case he tried to pull something.

Makoto: So what do you want to talk about.

Caster: I wanted to inform you two about the Grail.

Makoto: The Grail?

Caster: Yes, Someone seems to be tempering with it.

Saber: How So?

Caster: You see the Holy Grail only happens every sixty years.

Makoto: Sixty years!

Caster: Yup, but after the forth grail war it only took ten years for the next one to happen, now in this one eight.

Makoto: In a sense it seems impossible. What my friend told is that the Grail takes in mana from the surrounding place, so I see why it would take sixty years. But as you told me it seems someone has been "feeding" it as I can describe it.

Caster: That is correct. And the second thing is, someone like me shouldn't be here.

Saber: What do you mean? Your a servant aren't you?

Caster: Why yes in fact I am but I am a special case and I would summoned for a limited amount of time. But that is a story for another time. For now the thing is I am here for abnormal reason.

Saber: So you truly haven't died, but you are here. That is strange.

Caster: Indeed, when I was summoned I felt something strange out this world's grail.

Makoto: This world's grail.

Caster: I am going to say one thing, timelines.

Makoto: Huh? Oooh.

Saber: You got that very quickly, I am a bit confused master.

Makoto: I'll tell you later.

Makoto had a medium understanding to what Caster was talking about. He at least knew the basics of how there can be a multiverse. Still didn't know how big and complicated it can be.

Caster: Still the Grail's Mana is more of one person's than of an entire city or so.

Saber: Strange Indeed. So that means someone wanted this war to happen.

Caster: Indeed so.

Makoto: But why?

Caster: I don't know all the details really, I may be all knowing but that doesn't mean I know everything.

Makoto: Eh...

Suddenly Caster look in another direction.

Saber: Something wrong?

Caster; I just felt something, two- no three servants fighting.

Makoto: Its best not to get involved.

Saber; I hate to say it but I have to agree. This could be an opportunity to see if it's any other servant we haven't encounter to analyze them. But I feel like we are going to get dragged into something out of our league.

Caster: Despite you being a saber you know your limits.

Saber: I hate to say it but I'm not one of the strongest.

Makoto: Mmh?

Saber: From where I am from-

Caster: She doesn't meet most requirements that other Sabers do.

Saber: There is no need to interrupt Caster. But he is right.

Caster looked over in the direction where the other servants were fighting.

Caster: Make that four now.

Makoto: I'm going to take my guesses on who they are. Lance, Rider, Archer, and Assassin.

Caster: You are correct.

Caster clapped for Makoto. Makoto did a slight bow as Saber giggle at this small antic.

Makoto: Does this Make is friends now.

Caster: Yes but I don't know what my master will say. I'm trying to stay on the sidelines of this war so I don't accidentally "one-shot" anyone as you people would say.

Makoto: Right, you are a vey powerful servant and the ones here are basically normal.

Caster: Except for Berserker, that guy is an odd one.

Saber: Why's that?

Caster: What would be the fun in telling you. Besides I bet he will tell you everything eventually.

Makoto: I guess so. Trying to force things out of people is not a good thing.

Caster: Well I should be going now. I wish you two good luck in this war, don't go dying so early.

Caster waved his hand goodbye and used his magic to fly off.

Makoto: I suggest we get home to, I'm pretty tired.

Makoto let out a yawn.

Saber: Understood master, unlike you I can don't really have internal- *Yawn*

Makoto: You were saying.

Saber: Please ignore that.

Makoto: Nope.
