Rocket Attack!
We raced towards the entrance, and the grunts glanced at us. "Well lookie what we have here, you're back!"
Daisy rolled her eyes. "You guys, again?"
The other one smiled. "That's right! Team Rocket is in full swing now, kiddo!"
I wondered what he meant, and then his walkie-talkie began to go off. "Commence the invasion of Saffron City! Secure Silph Co! Proton and I are moving in!" A female voice shouted from the device.
"You guys get out of here, or we'll defeat you in a battle!" Daisy threatened, holding out Tyrogue's Poké Ball.
The men rolled their eyes. "I don't think you get it, kid. We're invading a city, it's not just us two anymore." As he said this, three more Team Rocket grunts emerged from the gate.
"Now how's about some revenge?" The first grunt said. Each of the members took Poké Balls from their belts.
"Uh on second thought, maybe we should... not," Daisy and I turned in sync and bolted back down Route Six.
We didn't stop running until we had reached Vermilion City, then we both almost collapsed.
We spent a few moments catching our breath from the situation.
"This is not good! They're probably up to something nefarious, and it sounds like it involves Silph Co." Daisy said between gasps for air.
Hm... I wonder... I thought. I started to idly sign my stream of consciousness. We could see if Yellow would be able to help, maybe some of the townsfolk in Vermilion could help as well.
Daisy picked up on my train of thought. "Didn't the gym leader train in the military? Let's get his help!"
We raced to the Vermilion City Gym, throwing open the doors to see the Lieutenant cleaning the battlefield. "Huh, what're you two doing here?"
"Where's Yellow?" Daisy scanned the room and Lieutenant Surge rolled his eyes.
"She beat me about five minutes ago and then left." He replied.
Daisy and I shared a confused look. The match had only taken five minutes? "Figured we'd go easy on her, she's had things tough enough."
"What does that mean?" Daisy questioned.
The Lieutenant waved it away. "Listen, what do you both want?"
The question reminded us of the dire circumstances. Daisy told Lieutenant Surge about what we had encountered, and the man dropped his broom onto the ground. "Oh, shit."
Lieutenant Surge raced out of the Pokémon Gym. In the next few minutes, he scrambled to alert as many trainers as he could find about the attack. Then, the man went charging down Route Six.
Daisy and I followed after him, watching as he charged at the Team Rocket Grunts hanging around the entrance. The Lieutenant sent out his Raichu, which snarled at the grunts.
The men looked at each other, and then over at us. "Oh, really? You guys went and tattled?"
"Told you we shouldn't have let them get away." One of the other grunts said.
They took Poké Balls from their belts, preparing to send out Pokémon. "Shuddap! Let's get this guy!"
Surge glanced back at us and motioned to the entrance. "I can handle these babies, you kids are free to stay out of this but I know you're tough. If you're up for it, I'm sure Saffron could use the help."
I looked at Daisy, though I could already imagine what she was going to do. "Let's go, Red! We need to help!"
I signed to her that this was different than before, and we needed to be cautious. Daisy sighed. "Red, this is really important to me. I won't make you go, but you can't stop me."
My mother had asked me to avoid conflicts like this. I was afraid of something going wrong, stepping into the limelight of a conflict like this. However, I wasn't going to leave my best friend out to dry.
I begrudgingly nodded and she grinned. We charged past the Team Rocket Grunts and into the gate, barreling into Saffron City.
The city was a chaotic mess, trainers and Team Rocket were at war. Plumes of smoke rose up from various parts of the city, and I could see various battles taking place.
It seemed that the police force had mobilized, and were making efforts to push against the invading gang.
My eyes fell onto Silph Co. That was the focus of this assault. Whoever was behind it was probably up there, needing to be stopped.
Daisy noticed where I was looking. "Silph Co. is what the person over the radio said they were targeting. We need to get there." We ran down the street, hurrying past the battling trainers.
Down the road, we could see a large amount of fighting taking place. "MEGA PUNCH! MEGA KICK!" A familiar voice screamed from the top of his lungs.
Kiyo and his Fighting-Types were battling side by side with Sabrina and her Psychic-Types. There was practically an army of grunts surrounding them, but they seemed to be holding up quite nicely.
Sabrina sighed and seemed bored with the battle while Kiyo was sweating and fully invested. I didn't get a very good look at Sabrina, though it seemed as though she was floating.
A wave of smoke obscured them as their Pokémon launched out waves of attacks into the attackers.
"Wow. It's amazing to see those rivals working together in perfect harmony..." Daisy commented.
We returned our focus to the center of the city, looking at the skyscraper that towered over the rest of the city.
Silph Co was under complete lock down by the looks of it. A swarm of grunts were milling about the entrance, keeping it guarded.
"How many grunts are there? It's like this organization has infinite members." Daisy noted. We watched them from the corner of the street, trying to find a way in.
"Well, if it isn't baby sis and fisticuffs." An all too familiar voice said. We turned around to face Blue, grinning at us.
"Did you guys miss me? I think you missed me." He said slyly. "Going and getting yourselves into trouble all over again."
Daisy crossed her arms. "Shut up, Blue! Did you come here just to bother us? Or is this inconveniencing some elaborate trick of yours again?"
Blue rolled his eyes. "I'm here to help. Contrary to what you might think, I'm not evil. I'm an asshole sometimes, but people are in real danger here."
"Sometimes?" Daisy raised an eyebrow.
"Alright alright, most of the time!" He put his hands up. The sibling back and forth would likely continue for the rest of time.
I interrupted them and signed that whatever the situation, we needed to get to Silph Co.
"Well if you actually want to help, do you have any ideas for dealing with these trainers? We need to get into Silph Co." Daisy gestured to the street.
"Easy enough!" Blue smirked as he threw a Pokeball in the air, in a flash of light a giant Typhlosion appeared. It stood on two legs and its small arms rested on its white belly. Its back was cobalt and at its neck was a flaming red collar.
The beastly Pokémon roared and showed off his claws. "Meet Typlosion, my first Pokémon." Blue introduced with a smug grin. He was clearly trying to show off with his fully evolved starter.
Daisy sent out Tyrogue. "What's your plan, oh brilliant brother of mine?"
"Typhlosion here will create the perfect distraction, and then lots of cover. Hey kid, can you send out a Pokémon?" Blue asked and I glared at him. I was planning on it anyways.
I sent out Pikachu and Blue pat his Pokémon on the back. "Typhlosion, run out there and get their attention!" His blazing badger ran forward and the Team Rocket Grunts glanced at the Pokémon.
They sent out a swarm of Pokémon. Zubat, Rattata, Koffing, and Grimer flooded the street. "Eruption!" Typhlosion unleashed an explosion of fire. The titanic move blew into the grunt's Pokémon.
"Tyrogue use Bullet Punch!" Daisy told her Pokémon, and the Fighting-Type ran forward at blinding speed. Tyrogue began rapidly punching multiple Pokémon, zipping around the opponents and punching one or two Pokémon at a time in rapid succession.
Pikachu use Thunderbolt! Pikachu's cheeks began to spark and he jumped into the air. Pikachu unleashed a bolt of lightning from his body that crashed into the opposing Pokémon. The new move caused hairs on my arms to raise as it rippled outward.
Blue thrust his hand forward. "Typhlosion, use Smokescreen!" Blue's Pokémon unleashed a familiar dark smoke from his collar. The volume of smoke was incredible, and it obscured my vision.
We all started to cough. "What's the plan now, Blue?"
"I didn't think it would be so much!" Blue responded between coughs.
"Poison Gas! Supersonic! Hyper Fang!" The grunts all yelled orders at the same time through the haze.
If they manage to get a hold on this group then we'll easily be overwhelmed! I thought. It was impossible to see what was happening at this point.
A sea of poisonous gas began to surge from the smoke. I braced myself for the worst.
"Alakazam, use Psychic to send this all away!" A new voice commanded. Suddenly, all the gas began to funnel into the sky before it could reach us.
I turned to see Sabrina and Kiyo were now behind us. "Alright Hitmontop, use rolling kick!" Kiyo's voice yelled. A blue and brown blur spun forward, kicking any opposing Pokémon in our way.
"You three get to the building! We'll hold them off!" Kiyo yelled to us. I returned Pikachu and started dashing past the confused grunts. Daisy and I were right behind me as I threw open the doors to the building.
