|Chapter 4|

(Y/N)'s POV

It was around 1AM when we decided to stop playing. Neither of us had planned on playing so late, but the time just flew. We both had to get up around 6:30AM for classes, so I knew that, best case scenario, I'm gonna be super sleepy all of tomorrow. I should probably get going to my dorm, I don't want to overstay my welcome.

"Chiaki." I tried to grab her attention, though she was so hyper-fixated on the screen, she didn't hear me.

I wave my hand in front of her face. "Chiakiiiiiii." She suddenly snaps back to reality, looking at me with a confused and sleepy expression. "You really get into your games, don't you?" I chuckled.

"Yeah... Sometimes, I get so focused on games, I forget to eat, or even breathe." She smiled so nonchalantly, as if what she just said wasn't the least bit concerning. A bit stunned, I awkwardly laugh.

"You really are the Ultimate Gamer, huh?" She giggled, before pausing the game and looking at me.

"So, did you need something (Y/N)?" She asked.

"Oh, seeing it was so late I was gonna tell you I was heading back to my dorm." I said, internally disappointed that I'd have to leave Chiaki's place.

"Y-You can stay here..." Chiaki said quietly, almost as if I wasn't meant to hear.

"Huh?!" My cheeks flushed a bright red. "S-Stay here?!"

Chiaki seemed to flinch at my words. Oh, that might have come off too harsh, I probably sounded like I was strongly against the idea.

"Uh... y-yeah..." Chiaki said, still not backing off her request. "Y'know, it'd be a hassle to go back. You seem pretty tired... You can just stay on the couch if you want."

"Sure, that's be great." I smiled, reassuring Chiaki that I didn't want to leave. She seemed to relax at that, powering off the console and clearing a couple of things off of the couch. "I'll be right back." She said, signaling me to wait there. I wonder what she's doing.

She came back shortly, carrying a big fuzzy blanket and a pillow. The blanket was so big the small girl had trouble seeing over it, but she eventually made her way to the couch.

"Here." She said, dropping the blanket and pillow onto my lap.

"Thanks Chiaki." I smiled, sleepily setting them up and getting under the covers.

"Alright, I'm gonna head to bed now." She said softly, sleepiness in her voice. She turned the light off, and I spoke without thinking.

"G'Night Chiaki, see you in the morning." I heard Chiaki laugh at my sleepy words.

"Goodnight (Y/N)."

I waited until I heard to door to her bedroom shut to mutter the words "I love you...".

~~~
My eyes slowly opened to see... Huh? Why am I in Chiaki's bed? I look to my left and see Chiaki sitting up, smiling sleepily.
"Huh? Chiaki, what am I doing here?" I ask, very confused. She gave me a weird look, then smiled.
"Well, you sleep here, I don't know what else to tell you." She giggled, scooting closer me so our shoulders were touching.
"W-Well we have to head off to school soon..." I mumbled, very flustered.
She laughed again. "It's Saturday, sleepyhead." She then tilted her head, planting soft kisses to the nape of my neck. Wait, what?!
I sat there, too shocked to move. Though, I swore I heard something. It's... getting louder... is that my name? It kept getting louder until...
"(Y/N)?" My eyes fluttered open, and I see Chiaki standing over me. So I was dreaming, huh? "Oh, you're finally awake. You sure are a heavy sleeper." She smiled, talking calmly in that sweet, soothing voice of hers. "School starts in half an hour, so I thought to wake you up." She turned her back to me, packing up a couple of things into her little backpack. "I made some pancakes though, they're in the kitchen." She made pancakes? I didn't know she knew how to cook. It never really seemed like her...
I ate the surprisingly good pancakes while making small talk with Chiaki, before I remembered my clean uniforms were in my dorm.
"Hey Chiaki, thanks for breakfast, but I gotta go get a clean uniform. See you at school alright." I waved, opening the door and walking out. I didn't close the door in time to miss Chiaki's disappointed "Goodbye...".
I quickly slipped on my uniform, and was still in the process of getting my blazer buttoned when I opened the door to see Chiaki standing there.
"Oh, hey Chiaki." I gave a small wave before going back to trying to button up my stubborn uniform, eventually giving up and sighed in defeat, making Chiaki laugh. "So, you need something?" I smiled.
"Oh, no, nothing in particular, I just wanted to walk to school with you." She looked at the floor with a slight blush.
"Oh, ok, Fine by me!" I grinned. Chiaki smiled as well, and we walked to school in a good mood, lighthearted banter being tossed around between us. We arrived at homeroom, continuing to talk since the bell hadn't rung, until I heard someone call my name. I look over and see Ibuki at the other side of the classroom, waving at me and jogging over.
"Hey (L/N)-San, I gotta steal you for a second!" She said, grabbing my arm and dragging me out of the classroom before I even had the time to process what on Earth just happened.
"U-Uhhh," I stammered out, still a little shocked. "Do you need something, Mioda-San?"
"Do I need something? Of course I need something!" She laughed.
"What do y-"
"You and Nanami-San have been really buddy-buddy lately, and Ibuki thinks she knows what's going on."
"Buddy-buddy?" I say, confused. Even more confusing was the last thing she had said. "(L/N)-San has a crush on Nanami-San!" Ibuki said, confident in her conclusion. I desperately hoped that couldn't have been heard from inside the classroom.
"What?!" I don't know why I reacted like that. It was kinda true.
"Don't even bother denying it. I saw you leaving her dorm this morning, and walking to school with her." She stated, proud of her observations. "It's pretty obvious to anyone but Nanami herself."
"So maybe I do! So what?" I say, annoyed with her pestering me about that.
"Soooo, Ibuki Mioda, your new wingman, has an idea!" She said. "But first, you'll need to listen to what Kizakura-sensei has to say." Wingman? Since when were you my wingman?
I went from annoyed to curious real quick. "What Kizakura-sensei has to say?" I repeated.
Ibuki nodded her head. "My amazing musician ears happen to overhear him talking about it, and I have an idea! But you'll want to hear the details from him first!"
~~~

"...and so, for a 'class bonding activity'," Kizakura-sensei put air-quotes around "class bonding activity", clearing as unenthused about the cheesy title as the rest of the homeroom class. I nearly fell asleep, partly from staying up late at Chiaki's last night, but also because I was just so bored, but Ibuki said this was important. "...we will be taking a class field trip to America for a week!" I shot up real quick. A trip? To America?? For a week??? I guess this school has government funding backing it up... wait, I should be listening! "...a city on the West coast. We'll do group stuff, but mostly you'll be free to enjoy the trip in groups of four. You can pick your group, but you'll be with those same people for the trip, so choose wisely. By the door, there's a packet with more info, including a map and a list of what you need to bring, so make sure you grab it on the way out."

~~~
"Mioda-San!" You called out as soon as you saw her, walking home after the seventh and final class of the day. You had to admit, this plan was probably ridiculous considering this is Ibuki, but you were morbidly curious after hearing what Kizakura-sensei had said. You sighed, almost ashamed you were going along with her shenanigans, almost.
"What's this plan of yours?"
Can you tell I forgot to use Japanese suffixes until half-way through?
In all seriousness though, I don't know what I'm doing. I think I'm going to switch from just using first names to the Japanese honorifics (only in dialogue though). Depending on how close Reader gets with everyone, the honorifics will switch from -San to -Chan, so on and so forth. And yeah, I didn't use honorifics for the first few chapters, I'm aware, but please ignore the inconsistency. I'm also aware it sounds weird using last names, since the English version of SDR2 uses first names, but oh well I guess. I'm trying guys...
