10% Chance of Rain

“What's the umbrella for?” Amy asked. Dominic was quickly grabbing his umbrella that was much too large for a seven-year-old like him. But it worked better for two seven-year-olds than most people thought.

“In case of rain.” Dominic answered, looking at the sky above. There were two dark clouds, but they were pretty small.

“The news said only ten percent chance of rain, Dominic.” Amy told him as the two walked towards the park.

“And that means there's still a chance.” Dominic said, using his umbrella like a cane. Dominic and Amy made their way past each others house as the park grew near.

“Cmon Dominic!” Amy shouted. Dominic sped up to catch up with Amy, who was on the swings. Dominic got on the seat next to Amy and they began to swing forward and backward, enjoying themselves.

“Whats that?” Amy pointed, towards the middle of the grassy open field next to the jungle gym. It was some sort of building, but it was small and didn't have any visible doors or windows.

“I don't know. I've never seen it before today.” Dominic answered, dragging his feet so he could get off the swing.

“Woohoo!” Amy shouted, jumping off the swing as it swung forward. She actually executed the landing to Dominic's surprise.

“Lets go see what it is.” Amy smiled, dashing towards the structure. Dominic quickly ran after her, and, after two minutes, the duo found themselves in front of the building.

“Look, a lock.” Dominic pointed, referring to the rusty lock on the door. It was a padlock, and Dominic tried jiggling the knob with no luck of getting inside.

“Window.” Amy pointed, already around the left corner of the building. Dominic looked over and saw a small open window about four feet off the ground. Amy jumped up and grabbed the windowsill, heaving herself up into the frame.

“What are you doing?” Dominic asked, somewhat angry with Amy's impulsive decision.

“Breaking and entering.” Amy answered, going headfirst into the window. Her legs quickly followed her body as she disappeared with a low thump.

“Hey, Amy, are you okay?” Dominic shouted.

“I'm fine. Just went headfirst into a can of what looks like paint.” she answered.

“Don't worry, Ill help you!” Dominic shouted, jumping to the window and pulling himself up.

“Wait, Dominic, I'm fine. Don't—" Amy managed, getting cut off. Dominic dove into the window, crashing into Amy, his ankle hitting the window as he came down. The window shut with a small thud.

“Dominic! Idiot! I told you not to follow me!” Amy shouted.

“But, you were hurt!” Dominic shouted. Dominic could barely see Amy in the low lit shack, but he thought he could see her blushing. She looked away flustered, then responded.

“Stupid!” she shouted, punching Dominic in the face. Dominic fell over into the cans, and then got up, rubbing his head in pain.

“What was that for?” Dominic asked.

“For being stupid!” Amy shouted, giving Dominic another sucker punch to the face. Dominic fell over once again, hitting against the walls.

“Now, are you still stupid? Do you need another punch?” Amy threatened. Dominic threw up his arms in defense, guarding his upper body.

“No, I'm not stupid. I'm just helpful!” Dominic protested.

“Being helpful is stupid.” Amy said, lowering her right arm. Dominic lowered his guard, and then looked around.

“So, how do we get out of here?” Dominic asked.

“The window, stupid.” Amy pointed. The previously open window was shut closed, as Dominic accidentally shut it with his foot.

“Then lets go.” Dominic said, getting up. He told Amy to get on his shoulders so the window could be opened. Amy struggled with no prevail.

“It seems…to…be…stuck…” Amy said, gritting her teeth. She pushed on the window with all her might.

“So…were stuck here.” Dominic said.

“Yeah we are.” Amy said, getting down from Dominic's shoulders.

“……….” Dominic said, leaning on the wall against the shack.

“This will take a while.” Amy said, sighing and sitting next to Dominic. The two were there for three and a half hours before anyone spoke again.

“Dominic.” Amy said.

“What?” Dominic asked.

“Im hungry. And sleepy.” Amy yawned.

“Yeah, me too.” Dominic said.

“Zzz…” Amy yawned. She fell asleep on Dominic's shoulder and Dominic couldn't help but doze off.
