–All Time Low, If These Sheets Were States

"Taiga~ it's [F/N], your lovable freaking girlfriend calling or in this case, making a voice mail. Just wanted to check up on you. How are you in Japan? Are you doing well? I hope so. I wish you were here with me." You laugh softly, but you were sad deep inside. "Anyway, text or call me when you're available. Tell me some stories okay? And don't you even dare cheat on me all right? I trust you. Skype me if you have the time." You sigh. "I miss you so much, Taiga. I love you, see you."
Kagami smiled sadly at his phone as he listened to your voice mail. He didn't like how you were feeling down because of him. He had just woken up from his sleep to be greeted by your message. He tried to call you, but you wouldn't pick up. He looked at the clock, the time displaying seven in the morning, and the time difference between Japan and America are 14 hours, but 17 hours in Los Angeles.
He took a short bath then quickly went back to his room where he left his cellphone. He speed-dialled your number and waited for you to pick up, and after five rings you finally picked up. He was going to pay a lot for his bills, but who cares? As long as it involved you, he would do anything.
"Hello? [F/N] speaking. Who is this?" You spoke fluent English even though you were Japanese like your boyfriend but your voice sounded sleepy, just like you woke up.
Kagamiwondered why you didn't know it was him, but then he remembered that you loved eating, meaning you were too busy making your food to look at the caller ID. "[F/N]!" Kagami yelled happily into the speaker, making you mutter an 'oh shit' in surprise.
"Taiga! Oh my god, I miss you so much holy crap. Did you get my message? Let me-damn- let me just finish my sandwich sorry! I kind of had a midnight snack." You spoke frantically in both English and Japanese, amusing Kagami in the process.
"Oh wait, midnight?" He said, widening his eyes. "It's so late, I'm sorry. I'll talk to you later." He said, a bit upset with himself that he called you at a bad time. He was about to hang up, but your voice stopped him from doing so.
"No, no, it's all good. It doesn't matter if it's midnight. I had a nap this afternoon, so I might be awake for a little while. Besides, talking to you keeps me awake so it's fine with me." You said. Kagami could practically sense your smile through the phone.
He placed his phone in between his shoulder (?) and ear while he changed into his Seirin uniform so that he could continue talking to you.
"I'll just eat my food while we talk, is that all right?" You offered, taking a bite out of your [Fav. Filling] sandwich.
"Sure." He replied, putting on his uniform quickly. "How's life there in America?"
You laughed which made Kagami's heart flutter as he heard your melodious laughter. "Same old, same old. My grades are still better than yours though."
Kagami pouted even though you clearly couldn't see it. "Shut up, [F/N]. I pass some of my tests sometimes." He refuted, grabbing his bag from the corner of the room as he finished dressing up. He then made his way out his house, locking the door behind him. He held the phone in his hands then pressed it on his ear once again to hear you properly.
"Sometimes is the key word." You said, giggling briefly which made Kagami smile. "By the way Taiga, how's basketball for you doing there in Japan?" You asked.
Kagami grinned. "It's still all good." He replied, making you smile even if he couldn't see it. He suddenly saw Kuroko near a stoplight post, so he jogged over to him. "Wait for a while, [F/N]." He whispered. Once he got to Kuroko, he greeted a happy good morning.
Kuroko tilted his head. "What made you so happy this morning, Kagami-kun?" He asked as the two of them walked down the street once the light turned red for the cars so that they could pass. "It's quite creepy."
Kagami disregarded his comment and pressed loud speaker on his phone. "[F/N], meet Kuroko Tetsuya. Kuroko, meet [L/N] [F/N]."
The phantom looked at his light blankly. "Are you deluding yourself that you have some sort of girlfriend, so you resort on using your phone as an excuse? Shame on you, Kagami-kun. Shame."
Kuroko's comment made you laugh, albeit surprising Kuroko. "Actually, Kuroko-san, I am his girlfriend."
Kuroko blinked twice. "Oh, I'm sorry if I offended you in any way, [L/N]-san." He said.
You laughed once again. "It's fine, Kuroko-san. You didn't offend me." You assured him. "It's nice meeting, I mean speaking to you, Kuroko-san!" You said cheerily, excited that you got to speak to one of Kagami's friends. "Ne, Kuroko-san, what's Kagami like in school?" You asked, curious about your boyfriend's behaviour.
"He's an idiot." Kuroko replied instantly, making Kagami freeze on his spot with his mouth agape while you, on the other hand, laughed in agreement.
"Yeah, I know, but he's my idiot." You spoke, then made a sound that you were sticking your tongue out.
Kagami blushed at this, then turned his head away.
"Oh, Kagami-kun is blushing." Kuroko remarked which made you giggle again.
"Yeah, he does that a lot when I say he's mine, right Taiga~?" You hummed happily.
"Wh-Whatever, [F/N]." He mumbled, blushing even harder. Even though you two were together for two years, you two never failed to make each other feel giddy and happy inside.
Sensing that you two needed some alone time on the phone, Kuroko excused himself with a goodbye to you and telling Kagami that he would go ahead to his classroom when they had arrived at the school grounds.
Kagami gave Kuroko a tentative wave, then turned his attention back to you as he turned off the loud speaker. "Oi, [F/N],"
"Yes?"
Kagami looked down at the ground then smiled softly to himself. "I love you." The red head suddenly heard sniffling on your side, so he panicked. "[F-F/N]? What's wrong?"
"Mou~ TAIGA I JUST MISS YOU SO MUCH I CAN'T EVEN EXPLAIN IT IN WORDS! I MISS HOW WE WOULD JUST HUG AND BE THERE FOR EACH OTHER AND HOW YOU WOULD BE PROTECTIVE OF ME AND, DAMN IT TAIGA, I JUST LOVE YOU SO MUCH OKAY?" You exploded at him, sniffing afterwards. "AND DON'T EVEN FEEL GUILTY OKAY?" You let out a breath. "I just needed to let that out."
Kagami landed on his chair and placed his head and phone on his desk, putting his head next to the device as he talked to you. "I love you too, [F/N]."
"I told you he has a girlfriend." Kuroko's figure was suddenly beside Kagami, as well as their other team mates.
Kagami practically choked on air in surprise. "Wh-What are you all doing here?!" He exclaimed, pointing at each and every one of them.
"Kuroko-kun here told us you have a girlfriend, and we're here to confirm it." Riko explained, a mischievous grin etched on her face.
"Here you go, Coach. I got his phone." Kuroko handed Kagami's phone to Riko, an evil smile forming on their coach's face.
"Hello, is this Kagami-kun's girlfriend?" Riko spoke onto the receiver, surprising you.
Just a while ago when you didn't hear Kagami's voice and just a bunch of random people speaking, you thought that he got busy, but you stayed on the line just in case. When you had heard a female's voice, this truly got you confused. "Uhm, yes, this is Kagami's girlfriend, [L/N] [F/N]. And you are...?"
"Aida Riko, Seirin's basketball coach! Nice to meet you [L/N]-san." She replied happily.
"Oi, give me back my phone! I'm not yet done talking to her!" Kagami exclaimed, then a series of sounds followed, like a struggle was happening. "Let me go, damn it!" He exclaimed.
"Is Taiga all right?" You asked, concerned at what was happening.
"Yep, he's fine don't worry." Riko replied.
"Ano... not to offend you, but could I please speak to Taiga? I'm getting a tad sleepy and I want to talk to him before I hit the hay." You spoke, your voice softening due to embarrassment.
Riko's face reflected understanding. "Hai hai~" She hummed, taking the phone away from her ear. She handed the phone back to Kagami, a grin on her face. "I like her. She's nice." She commented, then left the classroom with most of the basketball team in tow.
Kagami scowled that he practically wasted one and a half minutes not talking to you. Every second counts after all. "[F/N], you still there?"
"Yep, yep, still here." You tried to contain a yawn, but you let it out anyway unfortunately.
Kagami chuckled. "Sleepy?"
"Sorry." You mumbled, feeling guilty.
Kagami seemed to sense your self-reproach, so he assured you that you didn't need to feel guilty for feeling drowsy. "Go to sleep, [F/N]. You need it. You have school remember? I'll leave you a message."
You groaned in annoyance. "I don't want to sleep yet~ I want to talk with my Taiga-kun~" You said, clearly groggy.
Kagami chuckled at your behaviour. "Good night, [F/N]."
"Fine. Good night, Taiga..."
"..."
"... I love you." You told him, your voice a mere whisper.
"I love you too." Kagami replied, putting his arms around his face as he placed his head on his desk to conceal his smile.
Then you hung up.
Kagami sighed and brought his head up while pocketing his phone. He looked out the window and stared at the cloud-filled sky, waiting for the day to end so that he could talk to you once again.

Days turned to weeks, and weeks folded into months, and finally Christmas season was in queue. It was actually Christmas morning to be exact. You put on your [f/c] sweater as you entered your bedroom, in a hurry to log-in to your Skype account so that you could video call Kagami. You were already on Christmas vacation and so was your boyfriend, so now it would be easier to contact him than when there was school.
You turned on your laptop from its sleep, instantly going to Skype. You sat down on your chair facing your desk where your laptop was placed, and then you realized something. "Oh crap," You muttered. "I forgot my food." You mumbled, pouting to yourself.
Your mother knocked on your door then entered afterwards, a tray of your food which consisted of a steaming cup of hot chocolate and many pieces of tasty bread. She gave you a look and an amused smile as she placed it on the table next to your laptop. "You got too excited to talk to Taiga, you forgot your snack downstairs."
You pouted at her. "What can I say? I love Taiga more than food... and that's saying something!" You defended yourself, taking a piece of tasty bread, removing a piece then dipped a part of it in the hot chocolate, eating it afterwards.
You mother chuckled and ruffled your hair. "Alright, alright. Enjoy talking to Taiga." She said as she took her leave, closing your bedroom door on the way.
Grinning to yourself, you turned back to your laptop. Once you saw that Kagami was online, you checked you clock which displayed a time of nine o'clock in the morning. You calculated the time in America which was five in the afternoon. You quickly pressed the video call button and waited for Kagami to confirm your request.
After five seconds, the face of your loving boyfriend was displayed on the screen. A huge smile made its way to your face just at the sight of him. It's been a while since you last saw his face actually. The two of you never had any spare time to Skype each other, just calls and texts were exchanged, so once you saw him, you couldn't help but shed a few tears of happiness. "Taiga..." You spoke softly, smiling.
A huge grin broke out on Kagami's face, his mood brightening just because he saw you. "I'm finally able to see you again, [F/N]." He said. "I would hug you so hard if you were here with me right now." He added with a cheeky smile plastered on his lips.
An embarrassed smile made its way onto your lips; a pink tint dusted your cheeks. "Stop it, Taiga," You said, slapping your two cheeks, your hands remaining there for a while. "I can't stop smiling."
"Don't stop smiling! I love your smile." He commented which made you smile even more due to how sweet he is.
"You know, Taiga," You started. "If these sheets were the states and you are miles away, I'd fold them end over end to bring you closer to me." You quoted from one of your favourite songs, grinning.
Kagami rolled his eyes at you, yet smiled either way. "Very smooth of you, [F/N]. Nice choice of lyrics."
You then noticed his background. It wasn't his room. You obviously knew it wasn't his room since you've been to his house so many times. "Taiga, where are you? Are you in a hotel? It looks like you aren't in your room." You inquired, tilting your head a bit as you ate your morning snack.
Kagami tensed then darted his eyes everywhere, clearly avoiding your gaze. "I don't know what you're talking about."
It was your turn to roll your eyes. "Whatever you say, you idiot." You said, finishing your food and drinking your hot chocolate. "I'm going to take a walk while talking to you." You said, standing up fom your chair.
"Why?"
"Because I feel like it." You retorted with a smile.
"Remember to wear gloves, boots, and an extra jacket." He reminded you as you roamed about in your room trying to find those exact things. "I'm going to do the same thing." He said which made you smile.
Once you found them, you told Kagami that you were going to hang up then log back in using your iPad so that it could be easier carrying it.
You hung up, grabbed your iPad, logged in Skype, then video called Kagami once again. You grinned at him then ran down the stairs, passing by your mother who had a knowing smile on her face. "I'll be back later, mom!" You yelled out, putting on your shoes at the same time opening the door to be greeted by the cold wind of winter.
You slowly walked on the sidewalk, a small smile on your face. You turned to Kagami and exclaimed, "Look, snow!" You said, excited by the fact that you got to see snow. "If you were here with me, I'd probably throw snow balls on your face." You told him with an innocent smile.
"You know," Kagami said while you walked into the local park. "I really feel like I'm walking in the park with you." He commented with his adorable grin which made you smile as well as he showed you the park where he was at. It was also filled with snow, people were walking around, playing in the snow, making snowmen, and snow ball fights were occurring... just like where you were at. And oddly enough, it looked like it was morning where he was at. Isn't it supposed to be, like, five in the afternoon?
You momentarily took your eyes off you iPad and surveyed your surroundings in hope that Kagami was there or anywhere near you. You shook your head. It would be impossible for him to be here.
"Are you looking for something, [F/N]?" Kagami asked as you sat on a bench after wiping it off of snow.
You shook your head, sending him a smile, but it didn't quite reach your eyes. "Nope." You replied.
Kagami nodded with an unbelieving look on his face. Then he looked up and his eyes seemed to brighten. He looked back at the camera and grinned at you. "Wait for a moment, [F/N]." He said as he ran into some random direction.
You nodded and relaxed on your seat, trying not to cry. You missed your boyfriend so much, it hurt. The days, weeks, months without him, it felt like there was an empty piece of your heart. You were thankful that there was technology because without them, people wouldn't be able to communicate and would reply on snail mail.
"Taiga, I wish you were here." You mumbled, looking up at the sky.
All of a sudden, a pair of hands blocked your vision which went black afterwards. "Guess who." The person muttered in your ear.
You instantly went into panic mode, so you swiftly turned around and gave the person a mean slap to the face. Then you saw it, a red mop of hair with black tips.
"Ow, [F/N]! When did you learn to hit so hard!" The teen exclaimed, holding his face.
You jogged towards the person and frantically apologize. "Oh my god, I'm so so so sorry for hitting you, Taiga- wait," You gently grabbed the person's face and tears blurred your vision once you confirmed who it was. "TAIGA!" You exclaimed in happiness, hugging the life out of the said teen. "TAIGAAA~!" You continued to burst out with joy.
You were suddenly lifted up into the air, your strong ass boyfriend holding you by the waist. You laughed in joy as you looked down at Kagami. He put you down after a couple more spins and laughs, his tall figure looming over your small stature. He looked down at you, his eyes filled with love and admiration. "I missed you." He whispered, placing his forehead on yours.
More tears flowed down from your eyes, and Kagami wiped them away for you. "I miss you too, Bakagami." You muttered before he pulled you in for a kiss.
All the emotions of love, you poured them into this passionate action. All the hugs that you didn't get to do, all the words that you didn't get to say, all the kisses that you didn't get to give, you gave it all into one single kiss and that was enough for the two of you; just to be with each other again.
+++
It was night time, and Kagami asked permission from your parents to stay at your house for the night. Your parents approved, but they specifically said not to do the do. Embarrassed at your parents' behaviour, you quickly pulled Kagami to your room as he carried his bags with him. The reason why he had his bags with him was that the two of you went to his hotel room (your assumptions were correct), checked out, and then headed out doing random things couples would do.
The two of you lay in your bed; you were snuggling against him, your face buried and your hands placed on his chest while his arms wrapped protectively around your figure.
He pulled you closer to him, both of you face to face. He smiled softly at you before he leaned in to give you a kiss. "Merry Christmas, [F/N]." He said once he pulled away.
"Merry Christmas, Taiga." You replied. "I love you."
"I love you too."
Then the two of you fell asleep in each other's arms, this Christmas night turned into a day filled with happiness and laughter and this was indeed, the best and sweetest Christmas you have ever experienced and on this day, you weren't lost in empty pillow talk again.
