ᝰ face swap !
welcome to todays tutorial!
whoops its been almost 2 months
anyways:
today, im going to be showing you
how I, personally, do my face swaps
in all of my graphics.
these steps are just a guideline,
feel free to adjust them however
you want!
🎧 step 1:
firstly, grab your two picture
and I recommend using pictures
where the two models are shot from
the same angle. for this project, the
base picture was taken from a high angle
so I found a photo of my desired
face claim taken from a higher
angle aswell
once you've done that, lower the opacity
of the face claim until you can make
out the faces of both the model and the
face claim
like so:
🖇️ step 2:
then, with the opacity lowered,
try to line the face claims features
(eyes and lips) up with the models
features.
of course, this will never be a direct
match up, but, it helps with sizing the
face so that it doesn't look like
a balloon head etc
(see how the eyes and lip part
sort os align below? that's what
you're going for)
🫧 step 3:
once that's done, go ahead and
turn the opacity of your face claim
all the way up. you can then slightly
adjust the face to whatever feels right.
now, using the lasso tool,
I selected around the face claims
hair and a chunk of her neck
and cut the selection out.
remember, just because the features
lines up, doesn't mean you cant adjust!
if it feels a little off, just move the face
around slightly.
💿 step 4:
then, (using a mask or not,
doesn't matter but I always do), erase the
edges of the face. i erased her neck around
there shirt collar and the edges of her
hair.
when doing this, you might find
sometimes the neck doesn't like up
how you like or the shirt might sit weird
again, don't be afraid to nudge the picture
until it sits right.
🎧 step 5:
this step is optional
but helps with colour matching.
i then select a colour from the models
face and create a new layer.
i create a
clipping mask on this layer onto the models
face and colour the model in like so.
you can then play around with blend modes
and opacity until it suits
for this, I also turned down
the contrast and upped the brightness of my
face, just because the model had very flat
shadows.
don't be afraid to change the model to
match the face if that's the easier way.
it's also easier to create shadows than it is to
get rid of them.
ended up looking like this:
hot tip: if the neck looks fucked,
try adding hair over the dodgy parts
and it'll hide it. hair is the best
for hiding small mistakes.
and that's it! you're done!
here's my finished result
(after editing):
i hope this has helped in
some way and let me know
if you have any questions
or need any clarification !
