Background Infos and Author's Note

General Info:
If you didn't notice, there's a timeskip of a few months between the first and second part.
In those few months Ryuji entered True Cross Academy and got closer to Rin. As a friend, mind you. Ryuji was kind of suspicious of Rin because of the nature of the restaurant and his teacher's threat to expell him if he told anyone.
Originally, there was another chapter of him talking to Shima and Konekomaru about his suspicions and getting teased because of his crush on Rin that was apparent to anyone but the two of them.
To make things short, there was a lot of stalking.
About the nature of the restaurant: It's a safe haven from exorcists, but also from most demons. Satou, the Restaurant's owner, is actually a demon. She's father Fujimoto's ancestor, but they aren't particularly close. He still trusts her enough to take care of Rin while keeping him oblivious to anything supernatural.
Also, it was actually Rin who formed the connection with the Rokurokubi after unconsciously noticing that they were both in between of demons and humans. Were Ryuji an actual exorcist and not one in training, he'd have noticed demonic energy from Rin then.
By the way, I was really unsure about the title. At first, it was supposed to be Unwilling Blood in latin (blood meaning kin in this context), but neither that or the cool words I found in an online dictionary fit. So, desperate for anything I decided on Half-Cooked. I HATED that. Even the current title isn't as perfect as I'd like it to be (damn perfectionism about titles and names).

Part I:
*A pun to Konnyaku, japanese spelling for konjac, directly translated as devil's tongue. Kon ni means near something and aku means evil.

**Satou is written with the kanjis for 'help' and 'wisteria'. The latter indicates a connection to Fujiwara, since Fuji also means wisteria. In case it wasn't clear, it's the surname.

***In order to hide the actual source of the heat, Rin was told that fuse boxes are able to control all of electricity.
(To anyone who, like me, would've fallen for it: Fuse boxes can only turn electrical devices off, not control their settings. Isn't it sad that I'm in high school already?)

**** The 'he' Rin's boss is talking about is a fire demon, similar to the one in the Moving Castle, but a lot less powerful. Since Devil's Beef is understaffed the demon is mostly left alone and sometimes, his hunger gets the better of him.

***** The reason Rin doesn't work at a Sukiyaki restaurant is because they're fairly high-class and wouldn't have taken someone like him. His boss is mad because the people who buy Rin's Sukiyaki rip him off as they don't have enough money for the price they'd actually have. Rin started selling them by chance - a guest complimented him after he made some for his brother, who was visiting him at work and, flattered as Rin was, he let himself get ripped off. That continued until his boss noticed and set the price herself. But it still doesn't cost as much as it should.

Part II:
*a Rokurokubi is a japanese demon, whose head and soul disconnect from the body at times. When it completely disconnects, the demon is called a Nukekubi. When evil, they tend to drink blood, however, sometimes it is describes as an illness in japanese mythology. The particular Rokurokubi can't return to a human state because the body moved while the head was flying around.

**according to wikipedia, there's a theorie that the word Rokurokubi comes from rokuro, which is the device that opens and closes umbrellas. In this case, I made a pun out of it.

*** Said cleansing verse is,  "When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and purged the bloodshed of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and the spirit of burning", yet another thing I've copied of google. But the verse is kinda fitting, I think. Because burning and judgement. Yeah, totally not taking things out of context here... Zion is the hill the the first temple for God was built on, according to the Bible.

**** Bon uses the term family members loosely; the only direct kin he lost then was his grandfather, but he considers all of their community family.

Credit and Disclaimer
Great thanks to my sis (you can find her on instagram as July.Raven.Art), who photo shopped the cover on short notice, since I had less time than I thought I'd have before an exchange with France (I didn't and am posting from there, actually).

Unfortunately, I have no idea who the artists are, so I can't credit them.

All facts or Japanese mythology tidbits have been found on Google, but the character explanations belong to me.
So do the Rokurokubi, the Devil's Beef Restaurant and its owner, but the rest I've borrowed from the Ao no Exorcist mangaka.

Plans and Apologies
I'm sorry for this ambiguous ending, as well as for mistakes in the characters' speech pattern (I tried my best) and for stretching the word limit so far.
Also, sorry there wasn't any actual RinxBon, but this is already a shortened version, since I wrote this for a contest. And I suck at writing romancey stuff.
There will be a sequel though, and I've already written it! In my head, that is. Yeah, this is gonna take a while. Again, I apologize.

If you like this story at all, that is; I'm pretty bipolar about it, either hating or loving it. So please comment on how you like it, whether it feeds my delusion of grandeur in writing or the self-doubting urge to delete this - I won't do it anyway. Too much research, thoughts and time wasted if I did. Plus I've posted worse.

Oh, and check out That_British_Freak, the holder of the contest (I hope I'm allowed to make shout-outs...). If you like really well written fan fiction, you have got to check him out.
