Chapter 15
Gajeel P.O.V
I sat with Levy as she continued doing some research in the library with Lucy. They would sometimes say something to each other in some language I didn't understand. It sounds less like words and more like a ringing song, the words twining together in a lyrical way. Levy would get frustrated and say something to Lucy, the blonde would mumble and absent mindedly pat the bluenettes hand before returning to her book. About three days ago they were excited about something and when asked, Levy simply said she was almost done with the other research she was working on. I shrugged it off, but something was still nagging at the back of my mind. What are they hiding?
Full moon was only a week away now, and I was ansi. Between the ritual Levy had told me about and the fact that Ivan was still loose, I was on edge.
I huffed slightly and leaned back in my chair, balancing on the back two legs of my chair. " Gajeel..." The shrimp mumbled and I smirked slightly. She had already yelled at me once for doing this before, but I didn't much care. It got her attention. When I simply propped my feet on the table and didn't fix my chair she looked up at me.
"What's the matter shrimp?" I asked with a grin. She pouted at me and stood up. I raised an eyebrow and, before I knew it, she shoved my shoulder, causing my chair to topple over. I hit the ground with an oomph but I couldn't help but grin at the shrimps ringing laughter.
" I think the puppy just wants attention." I frowned at the spirit as she grinned at me. " Why don't you two go out? I think I can handle the rest of this Levy-chan." Levys face turned slightly pink. " Go on! You two haven't done anything together as mates. Nows the perfect time!" She grinned and I felt my own face heat up slightly. I looked up at the tiny bluenette just as she looked at me and our eyes locked. I felt that familiar pull, like my nerves were electrocuted in the best way.
" You want to?" She asked quietly, and I was sure my enhanced hearing was the only reason I heard her. I nodded simply before standing, brushing off my pants before offering my hand to her. She smiled and took it before leading me out of the library. It was a little past noon and there were tons of people out. "Lunch?" I asked, and was answered by a loud rumble coming from the shrimps stomach. With a grin I pulled her along, never letting go of her tiny hand as we weaved through people.
"Where are we going?" She called over the noise. " To feed the monster that has crawled into your stomach. Gihi!" I grinned and she flushed slightly with a pout. " That's not what I meant." She said. I simply grinned back at her before continuing through the crowd.
Levy P.O.V
I pouted as Gajeel pulled me through the city but I couldn't keep the smile from my face for long. Gajeel and I are on a date! I was so happy, I owed Lucy big. With trying to find a way to weaken Ivan, I had ended up ignoring my poor mate. And yet he was there, every day without fail. We finally had a break through and were simply constructing the spell when Lucy kicked us out. I knew I could trust her.
Gajeel pulled me into a small alley, and before I could ask he opened a nearly hidden door, and i wondered how he knew it was there. He pulled me into a dimly lit room, where soft music played and the heavy scent of smoke hung in the air, and yet, it wasn't uncomfortable. " Long time no see wolf boy!" A voice called and we turned to see a tall curvaceous brunette. Gajeel grinned as he pulled me to his side, his hand snaking around my waist.
" Hey Cana. Think we can get a table in the back?" He asked her and she nodded, waving us off before walking for a bar near by. Gajeel pulled me forward again as we made our way for a table in the back, letting me slide into the booth first before sitting beside me. " What is this place?" I asked as I looked around. "A little restaurant owned by Cana, a gypsy fortune teller. She and her husband Bacchus set up here when the town was first built. He makes a mean steak." I giggled as he practically drooled.
Cana approached us then, wiping her hands on her apron. "Well hello doll face." She grinned at me and I smiled back. "Hello!" "Yo fur bag, where did you find a sweetie like this?" She asked as she sat in the opposite booth. " I work with Fairy Tail, Gajeel joined a month ago and his first assignment was with me." I said with a smile. " Well you look out blue, he can be an idiot." I giggled at Gajeels scowl. Cana grinned and pulled out a note pad."I know what he wants, but what can I get ya doll?"
I quickly peeked over the menu,"Steak as well, rare." She nodded before hopping to her feet and dancing towards the bar. Gajeel and I talked while we waited, sharing stories and telling our favorite things. I learned that, feline shifters not included, he had a soft spot for cats, he played the guitar and sung. Cana had over heard and told me to never let him sing for me, earning a string of curses from the wolf. Even after we finished eating we sat for hours, just finally getting to know each other.
" Alright love birds, I got to close up." Cana said, raising an eyebrow at Gajeel as he tried to balance a spoon on his nose. I giggled as I glanced at my watch. It was nearly 11 o clock. " We've been here for 12 hours?!" I gasped and Gajeel laughed. He slid out of the booth before pulling me to my feet. We said goodbye to Cana before finally leaving, our fingers tangled together as we walked the dark streets. We were quiet as we walked, and I felt a little sad. I didn't want this day to end, I didn't want to part with him. I sighed a little and he glanced down at me.
" You alright shrimp?" He asked and I nodded, tightening my grip on his hand slightly. " Iv had so much fun, and I really don't want this day to end." I said quietly and he smiled softly. He brought my hand to his lips and kissed my fingers, making me blush softly. I blushed more as a new thought came to mind. "Do you, um, wanna stay over?" I asked and I saw a light dusting of pink on his cheeks. " Uh, sure. I'll have to run back to my place for some things." He said with that small smile again. I grinned and nodded. He took me to my apartment, giving me a soft kiss before leaving.
I smiled as I began cleaning up my apartment, anxious for him to come back. " You look happier and happier every time I see you. Quite nauseating really." I spun at the voice, my hand flying to the gun at my hip that was hidden by my sweater dress. Ivan stood there by my window, looking bored. " Have you decided? Full moon is only a week away." He asked and I growled at him.
But I had decided.
I straightened up, but my hand didn't leave my gun. " I have." He raised an eyebrow, waiting for my answer. "I will go with you. Just before midnight I will meet you in the clearing outside of town" I had to fight every instinct I had to shoot him, because I knew it would do no good. In order for the spell to work I had to get close to Ivan. While I was out with Gajeel, Lucy should have informed the master as well as the rest of Fairy Tail. We couldn't tell Gajeel, because he would never let it happen, and he had to be focused on getting cured.
Ivan smirked happily, "Good girl."And with that he was gone. I sighed as I plopped onto my couch, rubbing my face tiredly. I nearly jumped out of my skin when a knock came from my door. I hurried over and opened it, smiling up at Gajeel. He grinned and stepped inside, closing the door behind him. I tried to calm myself, still on edge from Ivan surprise visit. For now, I only wanted to focus on the raven haired man before me.
