(Pearl's Pov)

"I'm sorry to say but she's gone." The doctor says and I feel as my heart shatters. I grab my face and feel the tears drip down my face.

My sister. My sister was just taken from this planet. She deserve to leave her so soon. She was too good for this world. She was so kind and protective over me. She was always there for me wether I needed her or not she was there. And now she's gone.

"No. No! You're lying!" I say while taking a few steps back. and I feel as a gentle hand is placed on my shoulder. I push it off and turn around to see Sapphire looking at me.

"Pearl. It's going to be alright. Just cal-" she says but I cut her off.

"Don't you dare tell me to calm down! You are the one that caused this whole mess!" I say and she goes to say something else but I interrupt her.

"Shut up! Just shut up! You're nothing but trouble! You freak! I wish it was you instead!" I yell and I push her. Ruby launches over to where I am and she jabs her finger into my chest.

"Hey! Watch it!" Ruby says and she steps up closer getting in my face.

"Why?! She took away my sister! She deserves to die!" I yell and I feel a stinging sensation on my cheek. My face snaps to the right. I look back at Ruby and hold my face.

She slapped me.

"You're lucky that it was just a slap. Say something like that again and you'll have something else to cry over!" She threatens me. I get ready the say something else again but I hear my name being yelled.

"Pearl! Stop!" I look over to see Sardonyx running over. She stops and moves in between me and Ruby.

"Stop it! Both of you!" She yells.

"That reta-" I start and Sardonyx gives me a harsh glare.

"Pearl. Don't finish that sentence because you know that you don't really mean it." She says and I gulp. I look away from them.

"Pearl, I understand. You just lost your sister. But you have to understand that we lost one as well. The way that you're acting we may lose another. Look Pearl, it was her time. We heard the whole story. What she did was very brave and she will always be remembered in our hearts. You have to understand that things happen for a reason." Rainbow says and she grabs my shoulders while looking me in the eyes.

"B-but-" I start.

"No buts! Pearl it hurts to lose someone I know. But we have to accept that she's gone! We can't live in a fantasy that she's still here!" Mom says. Aquamarine and Spinel step out from behind her and they nod in agreement.

"She's right. The only way to move on is by accepting it." Spinel says.

"We will all miss her but at least she went out doing something that she loved to do. Protect others." Aquamarine says.

"Pearl, it'll be alright. I promise." Amethyst tells me and she walks over to me.

"I know it's completely cliche but I'll always be here if you ever need a shoulder to cry on." She says and I crack a small smile.

"You're right." I say and she smiles.

"That was cliche." I say and her smile turns into a fake glare. I giggle and so does she. I hear a small sniffle and I glance to my side to see that Sapphire's sitting on the couch, crying. I bite my lip and walk over. I put my arm around her shoulders.

"Sapphire, I'm so sorry. It's not your fault. Not in the slightest! I was blaming you for something that couldn't have been helped. Opal was a protective person and she thought you were worth protecting. You're not any of those name I called you. You're so much better than that." I say and she wipes her tears. She hugs me and we smile through the tears.

Ruby stands to the side of the room still glaring at me so I let Sapphire go and I walk over to her. Sardonyx walks over just in case and she readies herself.

"Ruby, I want to say that I'm sorry for the way I acted. It was wrong of me." I tell her. She glares harder and goes to say something to me but Sapphire clears her throat.

"Ruby. Apologize." Sapphire tells her. Ruby sighs and clicks her teeth.

"Fine. Pearl I guess I reacted badly as well. I shouldn't have tried to fight you." She says.

"And~" Sapphire sings.

"I shouldn't have slapped you. Even if you deserved it." She whispers the last part. I nod my head and my sisters come around me. We do one of our family group hugs but it feels colder than usual.

"It's going to be okay." Sardonyx says.

"We'll miss her but her memory will live on in our hearts. She won't be forgotten." Rainbow Quartz says.

"She was a permanent part of this family and she still is. She's not gone." Mom says. We break the hug up and we walk over to the seats.

"May I speak with the family of Opal Quartz?" The doctor asks and the others stand.

"Are you coming sweetie?" Mom asks and I shake my head. She smiles softly and they walk away with the doctor.

"Pearl you should rest. It's been a long day for you." Amethyst says and I take her advice. I fall asleep but I soon have nightmares of the shooting. I scream but no one comes to help. Until suddenly I feel safe and warm. The nightmare disappears and is soon replaced by a calm meadow.

(Sapphire's Pov)

I watch as Pearl shakes in her sleep with tears streaming down her face. Amethyst wraps her arms around in her sleep and Pearl shaking stops instantly. Amethyst and Pearl both sigh in contentment while sleeping.

"They don't realize it but they need each other." I tell Ruby but I see that she's sleeping as well. I shake my head with a small smile.

"We're going to be just fine." I say to myself.
