Backstory:
Akihiko grew up with Ibuki Munemasa who was his neighbour, they used to do everything together. Momoka would also join some of the time and she thought of Ibuki like another brother. They used to play basketball and other sports together but sadly when Akihiko was 7 his father got a new job and they had to move houses. Akihiko and Ibuki sadly lost contact with each other when they were 9 and didn't see each other until Galaxy. Akihiko continued to play basketball but he soon became obsessed with soccer and slowly opened basketball. He played soccer with Momoka and also played on a team which disbanded a year before he joined Raimon.

• When Akihiko saw Ibuki again it was like they had never stopped talking. They were as close as they were as children. They now continue to play sports with each other.

• On episode 13 when Sangoku Taichi kept trying to protect the goal, Akihiko couldn't stand to see the male getting beat up like he was. Akihiko got in the way of the shoot and stopped the ball with his hissatsu, Quick Draw. He said he had enough of being told what to do. He was one of the reasons why the others started to help Raimon.

• In his first year of junior high, Akihiko was 5'3 but had a growth spurt over the summer. This surprised all of the 2nd and 3rd years in the soccer club and his classmates.

• Akihiko learnt how to play soccer when he was 8 so Ibuki didn't get a chance to play with him until galaxy.

• Akihiko looks up to Endou Mamoru so when he came their coach he was extremely happy.
