Another request for @NeroDevil0 Hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed writing it! I love this gang.
***
The gang wandered around Twilight Town early that morning where the sun pestered them on an enormously hot summer day, and they had just finished buying the ice cream the sun threatened to beat down on them with more than just their fists.
Xion and Roxas walked further ahead while Isa and Lea sautered next to each other in the caboose, Lea bickering along the way frustratingly. Lea huffed—with hands full with cubed ice—and covered the back of his head; his scalp burned from the sun and his spikey hair matted down to the back of his neck annoyingly to where he nearly wanted to cut his hair short. Man, and he thought he was the hot stuff. His blue-haired friend looked to him and raised his eyebrow confusingly as he took a chunk out of his sea salt ice cream. Something Lea lacked and had to make up with the tons of melting ice. The scarred man knew what was wrong with his friend but it was humorous to see his friend respond comically like a child pouting child because he did not get his way.
Lea had no ice cream, and that was the big problem, Isa knew already. Isa, Xion, and Roxas had bought the last three before the vendor sold out. Due to the immense heat and drought, the ice cream sold out fast. It appeared the sea salt flavor was a delicacy more than the group had thought.
"Maybe we should learn how to make the ice cream ourselves so we wouldn't have this stupid problem every day," the redhead mumbled to himself. It happened more often than it should.
"And risk cleaning up the mess afterward?" Isa chuckled to himself. "You really that mad?" And he talked of the insane type.
Lea shot him a glare. "Of course I am! You all—"
"Maybe then don't oversleep."
"I wasn't oversleeping," the redhead put a passionate emphasis on his words, "I was forced to work an extra hour of overtime at the store. I swear they need to give their employees a free sea salt ice cream coupon for the extra time, jeez."
"So what you're telling me." Lea's friend took a chunk out of his ice cream. It was as though he was teasing his redheaded friend. That or mocking him. It seemed to be both. He pointed his ice cream to Lea, trying to exaggerate his point going forward with his other hand on his chest. "You could have bought yourself a fudge sickle before your shift ended and avoid this melting alive situation?"
Lea's hands were wet from the watery ice, giving off the illusion that he was melting away from the heat.
Lea almost exploded into angry flames at this stupid joke. He gripped his fist. "NO! That's not funny, Isa. I hate those things and you know it, you jerk! You know I've been dyin' to get me one of those all day... Especially after a long one." He released the longest groan anyone had ever heard.
Isa responded nonchalantly, "Seems so." He took another chunk out of the ice cream, his teeth somehow not affected by the cold. It was already half-gone by now. "In fact, you seem desperate." It took everything for the male to not break out laughing right now at his friend's expression. A priceless and indeed desperate one. Could such a visage explode into flames itself?
"C'mon, you don't even eat it correctly—" the redhead complained, "Just lemme have a bite of yours."
"Ugh, fine, you loser—" Isa obliged.
Lea leaned in while Isa bowed his ice cream toward his pal's face, allowing him a bite of the flavor. Just as his teeth reached the end of the ice cream, an even more drastic voice called out just ahead of them.
"Hey! Get off of her!"
Both the two in the back froze, trying to process the male they had just heard; when looking around them, they quickly did realize that their two younger friends were not around them anymore. Only one conclusion: The redhead spoke first, having heard it plentiful times before compared to his blue-haired friend. His jaw tensed before dropping. "That's Roxas," the breathless name left his lips. And without even a glimmer of hesitation, he raced forward and left Isa there alone.
"Lea, wait! We don't know what's going on. We shouldn't just jump in..."
But it was already too late. His friend already charged way ahead of them.
Isa chased his stupid, red-headed friend and dropped his ice cream along the way, stepping on it with his boot by accident as he chased him. The one hand that had been holding the creamy goodness reached forward as they rounded the corner of one of the buildings and ran toward a crowd of teens surrounding something in one of the many secure alleyways. With them were his three friends.
Isa gasped when he saw many unfamiliar boys and a few girls screaming and yelling hysterically as they encompassed something—someone. It was a girl he did not recognize, and a multitude of the girls and boys clutched her hair and tore at it so hard that he swore they were about to tear it straight from her scalp. They shoved her and pushed her to the ground before kicking her sides repeatedly. Both Roxas and Xion were already ahead and trying to fight them off—Lea screaming for them before joining in the fight like the bunch of children they were.
However, when both Lea and Isa were there, a couple of the kids paused and looked to them before an expression of fear crossed their older and much stronger features. It seemed that the sight of the two more towering and more robust men approaching, many of the teens picking on the girl got the right mind and stopped.
"Let's get out of here—" One of the smaller males with a beanie growled. Unlike the others, he could tell he was outmatched. He was probably the smartest idiot around them.
Mr. Beanie whirled around to retreat, but before he could, Roxas seized him by his shirt. "This will teach you!" the blonde threatened the male before puncturing him directly in the nose with his fist, knocking his head back in an instant and leaving him dazed.
Falling to the ground as he was dropped, the male whimpered and scrambled away, holding his nose and hiding the fact that it had cracked from the weight of Roxas' fist. "Y-You broke my nose!"
Isa growled and ran up to his friend, placing a hand on Roxas' shoulder, yanking him back. "What the hell, Roxas?!" he snapped.
"I gave the bastard what he deserved—" the blonde raised his fist threateningly to the others, displaying that he would not hesitate to punch them too.
Most of the other kids, who had been focused on the girl, looked up with visages that cried for the blood of the blonde who punched their friend; some coward at the sight of Roxas' fist and some did not. They dropped the girl to the ground—who laid there with bloodied and gritted teeth—with even more blood around her nose. A bit protectively, the blue-haired male pulled Roxas behind him because he knew they would tear him apart if all of them got their hands on him at once.
With Roxas behind him, the scarred man glared daggers at the group of teenagers approaching menacingly. He gripped his fist at his side and calmed down his berserk side, knowing that in seconds that they all could be shredded with pieces if he really wanted to do such a thing. Within seconds of displaying his fangs and nearly his full animal side, the teens stopped cold in their place within the dirty alleyway. Most backed down immediately, and the ones that were on Xion and Axel's asses stopped as well. Eventually, it was all of them; abruptly appearing terrified as though Isa had broken Beanie's nose with only his cold glare.
"RUN!" a shrill scream erupted from one of the girls.
They all scrambled away within seconds, leaving the gang and the girl alone; Xion ran to your side and aided you, a hand moving to rest on your back as you gradually sat up.
"Are you okay?" she nurtured you. Every bone in your entire body hurt down to all your bones and organs. You just barely nodded and with the reassurance, the black-haired girl looked to Roxas and Isa. Her eyes widened and jaw dropped as she saw something lurking behind them.
"Isa, behind you!" the dark-haired girl cried out to her friend, pointing over his shoulder
Isa listened to Xion and spun around, again pulling Roxas to the side with a handful of his shirt. What Xion had seen behind him was a small group of shadow heartless. Easy to fight but that was not the problem. They were in an area where they should not be...
Isa tightened his teeth. "What in the world are heartlesses doing here in Twilight Town?!" he snapped and managed to back up so he was out the line of multiple attacks from the dark shadowed creature with glowing yellow eyes crawled closer and closer. He released Roxas, knowing the male could fight them off easily and knowing he could kick the creature into the next world if he really wanted to himself.
You watched, trying to remain calm with deep breaths but both your mind and lungs ached, so you were unsure if any oxygen was reaching your brain enough for you to think properly. Just as the strange blonde summoned two weapons in his hands, you lost it as your heart skipped a beat; he looked like he could easily hurt you with them, and that settled the doubt in your mind. Now the girl's arms that held you did not feel safe. It felt as though she and them all equally could assault you just as the others had done.
You merely had been feeding a cat when they jumped you in the first place. You did not know why. You had been doing nothing wrong. Now your brain spun and you wanted to get sick right then and there for it felt as though you were reliving the same hell again. And you weren't going to deal with it further...
In a panicked state, you lifted your hand in the air and reached toward the heartlesses, abruptly gripping your hand in a fist while commanding them to disappear with powers that the four did not expect you to have. But the shadowed creatures did not listen and you worried instantly at would happen, at what you had done.
In front of Isa, the heartless bubbled in a strange way you had never ever seen and it continued to grow as though it was inhaling water and not stopping. It's jaws slacked and a sickening roar erupted from it's nonexistent throat that sounded like a cat yowling as it died. What the hell? He snuck a glance behind him and saw that the girl was lifting her hand in the air toward the heartless. Quickly he put two and two together. She was doing something to the heartless. Manipulating it? Killing it? He did not know quite what, but it was something that he did not like...
Roxas took steps back as the creature was growing enough to press on both sides of the wall. He had never seen a heartless do such a thing. The heartless cracked like glass down the middle, making his blue eyes widen in fear. This was not right. He yelled to his friends, "Take cover, it's going to blow!" He got rid of his keyblades before ducking for cover behind some boxes.
Xion and you were left uncovered as she attempted to help you to your feet without much success. Without a second thought, the girl's friend with the blue hair and scarred face grabbed the both of you and held you close to his chest as the ground rumbled and the creature erupted. The heartless exploded and yellow goop thicker than syrup slopped everywhere. On boxes, the wall, the ground, and even Isa. The two and you remained like that for a few minutes, still and breathing against each other in fear. You felt the breath of the strangers, one against your ear and the other against your cheek. They were so close and it comforted you for some reason.
When the ground stopped rumbling temporarily, the male with his arms wrapped around you and the girl lifted his head and looked behind him. Everything went calm before he spoke, "What in the world was that?"
Lea poked his red and slicked-back hair from behind one of the crates and leaned against it. Despite the cover from the explosion, his hair still appeared wild as though he stood in the midst of a bomb and received the worst of it. He leaned his arm against one of the crates, breathless with eyes opened. His jaw dropped open but it was difficult for him to speak up. "I... I have no idea."
Isa pushed his messy hair back with his hand and then it matched his friend's. It was sweaty but with goop as well. It stuck his hair back as though it were hair gel he was intentionally using. His bright eyes glared down at you and he pulled back from Xion and you. He remembered your actions and grumbled under his breath, waving his arm where the creature had exploded. "Care to explain, hmm?"
Everyone from behind their posts came out and approached Isa from behind, giving you curious but less intense expressions.
Xion crossed her arms at Isa and frowned. "Are you accusing her of something, Isa?"
"She did something, I saw it," he pointed out, lifting a finger down to you and followed your form as the girl helped you to your feet. "What did you do to that heartless?"
"I... I don't know, you admitted honestly and wiped stray amounts of goop from your hair.
"Whatever it was," the blonde in the back butted in, "It was awesome. Can you do that again?"
"Hell yeah, I agree with you there, Roxas." Lea laughed.
Roxas and Lea fist pumped.
Isa was not as impressed as the other two, but he grumbled and decided to go along with it. "Well..." he mumbled under his breath, "You got rid of them nonetheless Though I would have avoided the mess... Good job, er, you?" His eyes wandered over the bruises and cuts over your face. Closing his eyes, he stuck his hands in his pockets. "Care to go grab something for your bruises? A treat on me for taking care of that heartless.
You were taken back and scratched the back of your head. You did not mind, since you did know that if you went off on your own, you probably would be ambushed once again. So you nodded. "I would appreciate it if you could scare those boys off again."
Isa opened his eyes and looked to his friends. "What about you all? You coming with?"
Both the blonde and redhead shook their heads.
Lea scoffed. "I have to pass. I'm a mess at the moment."
"Gonna have to agree with Lea on this one. I think Lea needs a shower and I need to polish my skateboard if I am going to the competition tomorrow." He shared a laugh with his messy friend and fist-pumped him once again. You could definitely tell they were close bros. The two then left, talking gleefully as they did, leaving Isa and Xion alone with the strange girl.
Isa looked to Xion, who was ready to go with them. "I'll go with." She smiled to you. "What's your name?"
You introduced yourself as the man you learned was Isa took the lead toward the store. Despite being so dirty, the male wanted to come with you and that confused you but you went along with it; standing between the two while giving him an occasional glance up to the scarred man. You wondered where he had gotten such a nasty thing, or who had hurt him. You imagined a few scenarios since the entire walk was full of awkward silence.
Behind him, the yellow goop dripped to the ground. He received a few confusing expressions but no one said a thing.
Soon you reached the store. Xion went to the bathroom while Isa and you shot straight toward the frozen food section for something for your bruises, the cashier giving the two of you questioning glances as they did. Isa reached down into the icebox and grabbed an ice cream sandwich, pressing the cold bar of ice cream to your face—letting it cool you down.
You tried to do it yourself but the male was persistent that he had it under control.
"Man, you must be the mom of the group," you groaned at the cold headache reaching your head.
Isa raised an eyebrow. "You can say that."
"I didn't mean it as a bad thing. Just means you care a lot for others..."
For some reason, his hands felt really warm on your face and you subconsciously felt yourself leaning into the touch.
Isa did not mind cradling your delicate and damaged face.
