Chicken. The game of wits and intelligence. The competitors of the game charge towards the hardest thing they can find and at the last second, dodge the attack. Some examples can be rocks, slides, or many other hard things. However, for this game of chicken, we'll be using a tied up masochist name Darkness.

Darkness: *masochist mode on* Here they come, here they come! K-Kazuma, I doubt I can withstand their onslaught! Oh no! The horror!

Just at the last second, the Hawk Kite jumps over Darkness elegantly. Many other Hawk Kites follow suit, with them charging right into our wagons

Darkness: Kazuma! Would this be considered foreplay?! There narrow misses are so exhilarating! To have a horde of males in heat jumping over me is everything I could've hoped for!!

Y/n: *covering eyes* Shut up please!! We have people watching this and many readers as well!

Y/n's POV

Aqua: BLESSING!!

Aqua then fires a blessing spell at Darkness.

Darkness: No I am fine, really! *moans*

Kazuma: It looks like she'll be okay now.

Kiria: Good thinking you guys!

Aqua: It was all thanks to my blessing that boosted her luck!

Kazuma: Yeah, we know. And when this is over you can have my seat.

Aqua: Yes!!

The other guards start shooting their spells at it. I activate Uni's HDD and start shooting some of the Hawk Kites.

Y/n(Black Sister): EX MULTI BLASTER!!!!

I then fire a few shots at the Hawk Kites, killing them efficiently. The others run around and they then start to make a U-turn towards our wagon.

Kazuma: They're coming back!

Darkness: Good!

Estelle: That's not good, it's bad!!

Y/n(Black Sister): Hey! Is there any area where these things could either fall off of or use to trap them in?

Driver: No cliffs in these parts! But there is a cave we could take shelter in!

Y/n(Black Sister): Okay, head over to that direction! Everyone, get in! Rom, Ram, activate HDD and let's go! Kazuma, grab Darkness!!!

The others do what I said and the wagon heads to Darkness and Kazuma.

Driver: Hurry, get on board! They're closing in on us!!

Kazuma then ties Darkness to the wagon.

Kazuma: Alright, if it get to rough, let me know and I'll cut you loose!!

Darkness: To be tied by a wagon and be dragged behind it.... It is even better when being chased by horny- EEPPP!!

The wagon then starts moving.

Darkness: Kazuma! This is really good! Keep going! Treat me like the baggage I am!

Y/n(Black Sister): Kazuma, please tell that she wanted this.

Kazuma: She did.

Driver: Hey folks! Just wanted to let you know they're catching up!!

Y/n(Black Sister): Shoot! How much farther to the cave?!

Driver: Still ways away.

Kazuma and Driver: We're going to die!!!

Rei then gets up and prepares a spell.

Rei: BLACK HOLE!!!!

A hole the appears in front of the Hawk Kites and a majority of them fall into it.

Y/n(Black Sister): Great job Rei!!

Kazuma: Way to go Rei!

Rei: T-Thank you.

Darkness: For a noble to be caught in an act like this!! Avert your eyes Kazuma! My armor is giving way and I don't want you to see me disgraced and defiled!!!

Aqua: HEAL! HEAL! HEAL! HEAL!

Yui: Y/n! We are nearing the cave!!

Megumin: And I'm ready to unleash my spell!!

Y/n(Black Sister): Good! Driver, stop the wagon right at the side!

Driver: Got it!

Y/n(Black Sister): Aqua! Focus on boosting Kazuma's strength! Kazuma, use that boost of strength from Aqua and take down some Hawk Kites.

Kazuma and Aqua: Got it!

Aqua: POWER UP!!!

Kazuma then gets on top of the wagon and grabs his bow.

Kazuma: SNIPE!!! SNIPE!!! SNIPE!!! SNIPE!!!

Kazuma then gets four of them and they make a rather weird screeching sound.

Driver: Hey folks! I need to break hard, so hang on!!

Kazuma: DO ITT!!!!!

The driver then made a 360 turn and stop right at the side of the wagon! I then deactivate Uni's HDD and activate Purple Heart. I rush over to Darkness and cut the rope on her.

Y/n(Purple Heart): *grunts* Forgive me.... Darkness!!!!

I then throw Darkness towards the cave.

Darkness: *moans* I could get used to this kind of rough treatment! Bless you Kazuma and Y/n! To be used as bait for a horde of-

Darkness then hits the ground and the Hawk Kites then jump over her and they all enter the cave. I then deactivate my transformation.

Y/n: Megumin, now!

Megumin: EXPLOSION!!!

Megumin then blows up the front entrance, trapping all of the hawk kites inside.

*Time-skip*

With the day ending, the night approaches. They set up the wagons into a large hexagon which everyone is sitting inside of.

Random dude: Who's hungry for hawk kite? I've roasted them to perfection, only the best for our heroes. We're lucky to have you along Grand-Master! You have a powerful mage that can use explosion magic, and two arch-priests who can heal all of our wounds! And a brave crusader, risking her life against running hawk kites without flinching, and 4 more powerful arch-wizards! Not to mention you and your adventurer friend with those tactical skills to lure them into the cave and make our dinner! It was genius!

Y/n: Oh thank you! I wasn't going to let myself sit by as my team were going to be killed!

Y/n: It may have been out fault, but I have to keep my persona up for now.

Random dude: You cannot go unrewarded! Please accept this!

Y/n: Oh no, we don't need it!

Random dude: But you deserve this reward. If it wasn't for your team, those kites would be having us for dinner.

Y/n: Well, if you put it that way, how about this? I'll take half the reward that you are planning to give me. You might need that other half more than me!

Random dude: *sobs* Such a kind soul! I've heard how the Grand-Master is kind, but I wasn't expecting him to be like this!

The guy then hands me part of the reward and when I head back to the others, Kazuma drags me over.

Y/n: Hey, Hey! What the hell are you doing.

Kazuma: Come here.

Kazuma then drags me far away from the others.

Kazuma: Why the hell did you take that reward?! It was our fault for them being here!!!!

Y/n: True. However, we did not know that Darkness's armor was made of adamantite, so we aren't cleaning a mess we made. We're cleaning up a mess that Sena made!

Kazuma: That- That... That's a good point.

Y/n: See? I'll decided whether or not we can accept a reward from others if we're wrapped into it somehow.

Kazuma: Fine.

Everyone: Konosuba!

We see Aqua doing the one thing she's good at, and that's party tricks. She even implemented Wiz and Rei a few times for those party tricks. Once she finishes, she thanks the others for watching her perform her tricks. Kazuma is fixing Darkness's armor, with the others watching him. Meanwhile, Kiria and Y/n are looking at the midnight sky.

Kiria: Wow, I would never have thought that I would make such an interesting rival.

Y/n: Same here. This has been quite a fun ride.

Kiria: By the way, you seem to be a lot different from other adventurers. How did you get your powers?

Y/n: *sigh* I can tell you, but you have to promise not to tell others.

Kiria: Promise.

Y/n: To be honest, I got them from Eris herself.

Kiria: You got your powers from Eris?

Y/n: Yup, I died, but Eris said she would bring me back to life I would defeat the Devil King.

Kiria: So that explains why you're so determined to take down the devil king.

Y/n: Yeah, what about you?

Kiria: Honestly, I want to be the best of the best when it comes to a sword. That's why, if I take down the Devil King, I can show the world that I'm the best sword-wielder in all of the world.

Y/n: Looks like we both have our own goals when it comes to being the best we can be.

Kiria: Yeah. Hey Y/n, I have a question.

Y/n: What's up?

Kiria: Have you ever, you know, tried to find love during your time as an adventurer?

Y/n: Mmmmmm. No, not really. I'm kinda focused on taking down the Devil King right now, so I really haven't had the time to.

Y/n: I mean, if someone does love me, I'll probably be like the typical anime protagonist who doesn't even know that a girl's in love with him.

Kiria: I see... But if you couldn't defeat the Devil King and had to retreat, what would you do?

Y/n: Probably get stronger and go back when I know that I'm ready.

Kiria: You are a rather bizarre person. *whispers to herself* And that might be the exact reason for why I have fallen in love with you.

Suddenly, Y/n and Kiria both hear roars from the others. They see Aqua using Nature's Beauty on Wiz's head.

Random Person 1: That was great! D-Do that trick again!

Random Person 2: I'll pay to see it! Just don't leave us hanging!

Kiria: *smirks* Seems like your friend could make a serious killing off of those party tricks.

Y/n: Yeah, I'm not surprised to hear that.

The others are sleeping when Y/n feels something weird happening.

Y/n: What is going on out there to cause me to wake up like this?

Kazuma: Yo', Y/n! You up?

Y/n: Yeah, you feeling those weird vibes?

Kazuma: Yup.

Y/n: Let's go check.

Y/n and Kazuma hide behind a wagon and they both look out.

Kazuma: FORESIGHT, ON.

Y/n: So, what do you see?

Kazuma: There's people coming this way, but they're all walking kinda funny.

Y/n: I got this. FIREBALL.

Y/n then tosses a fireball and it's revealed that there are a bunch of zombies.

Y/n: Shit!! EVERYONE GET UP!!! WE GOT ZOMBIES SURROUNDING US!!!!

Everyone wakes up and starts to panic after they see them.

Kazuma: Y/n! Take of the zombies! I'll get Aqua!

Y/n: Got it!! DEMONIC INFERNO!!!!

Y/n then starts burning zombies left and right, but after he does he and Kazuma both hears Aqua scream.

Aqua: No! Get away! Why am I waking up being surrounded by the undead?! Kazuma! Help! Kazuma!

Kazuma: Crap. It's Aqua.

Y/n: Yeah.... We're not taking the reward for this part. We knew this, and we have to still clean mess that we made.

Aqua: You sneaky undead! Attack me in my sleep will you?! Rest in peach, o wandering souls! TURN UNDEAD!!!

Aqua then creates a giant blue rune, circling the entire area, killing the zombies. However, Wiz screamed and then went back down.

Rei: Wiz! W-W-W-We need some help over here!

Random woman 1: Wow! She got all the zombies!

Y/n: Damnit Aqua. Learn to hide your godly aura.

Aqua: *Image below* Now undead disturbs my sleep and gets away with it! I'll purify every last one of you!!

Y/n: Kazuma.

Kazuma: I know what you're thinking. We can't accept the other half of the reward.

Guard 2: Have you ever seen a more beautiful priest? She's like a goddess!

Guard 1: Speaking of goddesses, she's in the same party as that crusader and the Grand-Master!

Y/n: You're right about that Kazuma. We knew about how Aqua can attract the undead, and we tried to get her to hide it, but she refused.

Random male: It's pretty rare to get attacked by zombies way out here. Good thing that priest was riding along with us.

Y/n: This was a mess we made, a mess that we knew could possibly happen as we, and no matter what that person says, we cannot take the other half of that reward.

Aqua: Well you two, was that goddess-y enough for you both? I have to say I've been nailing it on this trip! Usually after something like this, an offering or two would be appropriate.

Random dude: Your magnificent party saved us again!! I insist you take the half of the reward from last time.

Y/n and Kazuma both ran away, dragging Aqua with, saying the exact same thing.

Kazuma and Y/n: WE'RE SORRY!!! WE CAN'T!! WE CAAAAAANNNNNN'TTTTTT!!!!!!

Y/n's POV

After what felt like hours, we finally get back on the road. Kazuma was sitting with the luggage, the others were in the wagon, and me, Rom and Ram were flying again. We notice a tunnel and go inside of it before the wagons. After that, I fly high up into the sky and get a good view of our destination, with Rom and Ram following me.

Y/n(Purple Heart): So this is Alcanretia. This place is rather beautiful.

Ram(White Sister): I know! This is the most beautiful sight I've seen so far!!

Rom(White Sister): It's so pretty!

We then start to fly around and see some of the sights.

Y/n: Elves and dwarves. Now we're kicking in the fantasy world vibe!!!

Y/n(Purple Heart): This scenery might more better than what Axel offers.

Shop keep: Steamed buns! Get your steamed buns!

Ram(White Sister): This trip is going to be so awesome! Right Rom?

Rom(White Sister) Yeah Ram!

We then see our wagon stop in the middle of town. We then fly over and deactivate our transformations, and then grab our stuff.

Driver: Well, see you around folks! Enjoy your holiday!

Y/n: Thanks!

Kazuma: Bye!

Kiria: So this is it...

Nekomimi: Alcanretia...

Yui: This is quite a beautiful place.

Megumin: Jarripa! Do not forget me Jarripa!

Y/n: Aaaannnd you already named it. Not a big surprise.

Kazuma: Yeah, that poor dragon.

Aqua: Let's explore the town! I'll be a great guide because I know everything about it!

Kiria: Really?

Aqua: Really! Not only is this place famous for it's hot springs, it's also the home base of the Axis Church.

Y/n: *scared* Aqua... Repeat that last part... Slow and steady for me...

Aqua: Huh, it's like I said. Not only is this place famous for it's hot springs, it's also the home base of the Axis Church.

Y/n: We're F$#&ed.

Kiria: Definitely.

Almost instantly, we are surrounded by people who I can assume are axis cultists.

Man 1: Welcome travelers to Alcanretia!

Woman 1: Might you be tourists? Converts? Adventurers? Pilgrims?

Man 2: If you're looking for work, the Axis Church is hiring folks right now!

Woman 2: We have a job where you get paid to tell other cities how wonderful the Axis church is!

Man 2: You get amazing perks working for the church, like calling yourself an Axis disciple!

Axis cultists: JOIN US! PLEASE JOIN US!!!

Y/n: Guys, we need to run. My social anxiety is kicking in hard around these people.

Kazuma: Yeah, let's find an inn before things get any weirder.

Kiria: I'm down on that plan.

Darkness: Yes, and let us hurry.

Kazuma: Thanks, but we've already got a priest from the axis cult with us, so see you around!

As we start to run away, they all state the same thing in a cult sort of way.

Axis cultists: Farewell good people! And have a blessed day in our blessed town!

Y/n: I don't think that will be possible.

Aqua: Konosuba!

After we get to an inn, Aqua, Megumin, Compa, and Estelle took off to explore the area. Since Wiz was still passed out, so everyone else stayed and waited for her to recover. After Wiz wakes up, and explains how she was on the verge of death, Rei and Yui both decided to keep an eye on her while she was recovering. Me, Darkness, Rom and Ram changed into some more casual clothes. I even decided to leave my nep hoodie behind for PJs, and went with something new. Since I learned some skills that would help me out in my business venture with Vanir, I made some clothes that I saw from my home world for him to sell.

We head out and see a statue of what they believe Aqua to look like.

Darkness: Look at that! Is it not grand?

Rom: It's amazing!

Kiria: This place may be the headquarters of a cult, but the things they have are divine. If they weren't all crazy, I would say that Alcanretia is the perfect vacation spot.

Kazuma: Yeah, it is pretty nice.

Nekomimi: There goddess looks so pretty, nya!

Y/n: And a complete idiot.

Kazuma: Couldn't agree more.

While we were all looking at the statue and hear the yelp of a female. We turn around and see a young woman with apples scattered all across the ground.

Apple Girl: My apples...

Kazuma: Don't worry we'll help!

We then helped pick up her apples and put them back in her bag for her.

Apple Girl: Thank you so much! It was kind of you to help. Um... *to Kazuma* If there's some time, I would like to thank you properly.

Y/n: Go get her Kazuma!

I then pat Kazuma on the back and push him towards her, making Kazuma blush a lot.

Kazuma: Dude, not cool. But still, did he help me trigger a flag?

Apple Girl then grabs Kazuma's right hand with both of her hands.

Apple Girl: I know this fun little café ahead run by the Axis Chruch.

Y/n: ABORT! ABORT!!

Apple Girl: Why don't we go there and have a chat?

Kazuma: No thanks, I'm good.

The girl then grabs Kazuma, restricting his movements.

Apple Girl: Woah! Hold on a moment! I'm really good at telling fortunes! Would you like to know your future? I bet you would!

I wanted to intervene, buy my body would not let me do so. Darkness, Kiria, Nekomimi, Rom, and Ram felt the exact same way.

Apple Girl: *eyes glow green* I've seen your future and it's bad! Yes, misfortune and misery! But you can avoid it and prosper if you convert the Axis faith! Join us! *crazed* YOUR FUTURE DEPENDS ON IT!!!!!

Kazuma: The only bad luck I had was meeting you! Let me go you freak! *looks to his companions* Hey, a little help over here you guys!

Darkness: Excuse me.

Darkness then walks up to apple girl and pulls out her pendant.

Darkness: I happen to be a follower of Eris. And if you wish to convert this man, you will have to go through me to-

Apple Girl then does something none of us expected. She than spat on the ground and started to walk away. She then stopped and spit again, and the continued to walk away.

Y/n: Well... That's a thing.

Kazuma: She was kinda... harsh.

Ram: Why would she do that? It was super rude!

Rom: Really scary though!

Kiria: Well, the Eris and Axis churches don't get along at all, so it would make sense that they do that.

Nekomimi: Darkness, keep that hidden. You don't want to-

Darkness: *moans*

Y/n: Seriously? You're turned on by that?

I was walking through the streets of Alcanretia. I realized that I needed a break from the crazy Axis cultist.

Y/n: *sigh* A walk by yourself every now is a good way for me to relieve some stress. I know I'm going to be triggering a flag, but I really hope I don't run into any Axis cultists.

Axis Cult Lady: *screams* Help me! Please young man, I need your help! This violent looking brute, who's probably in the Eris cult, wants to snatch me up and drag me into an alley!

Y/n: *Image below* Her acting is utter shit. Well, I guess I could beat the living shit out of this cultist. Right now, just play there little game Y/n, and then strike them right when the iron's hot.

Y/n: Don't worry Miss, I'll protect you! *To Axis Cult Man* I'm sorry sir, but this young lady is under my protection. If you want to get to her, you'll have to go through me.

Axis Cult Man: *laughs a bit* Oh really now? Are you with the Axis church? If so, I will have to run away, because the Axis disciples are tough! If not, I have nothing to worry about! I have the blessings of the dark goddess Eris don't you know, and if you're getting in my way you'll be so-

Y/n: PEA PUNCH!!!!

I then punch the Axis cultist in the face, and while he's trying to recover, I run up to him and I then go right for a spot that one who knows about the gentleman's oath would never dare fart on, therefore breaking that oath. The man's balls.

The Axis Cult Woman gasps and I start to walk away.

Y/n: Yare Yare Daze. These cultists are really annoying and persistent. Why does Aqua have to make her followers so goddamn crazy? Guess I'll have to use my acting skills to take down these assholes with pride.

I then walk into a bizarre to get some food, when I am met with a Axis Cult Shopkeep.

Axis Cult Shopkeep: Congratulations young man!

Y/n: Why are you congratulating me?

Axis Cult Shopkeep: Well, believe it or not, you are the 1 millionth to visit this street today!

Y/n: Sweet! Where's the prize?

Axis Cult Shopkeep: Well, I would give you the prize to commemorate this event, but you see, this Axis church is sponsoring this. But you're in luck because I just so happen to have an application to the church right here! I just need your name, and I can give you your prize.

Y/n: If I have to change my faith in who I believe in to get this prize then forget it! Give my prize to the next person who visits.

I then walk down the street a bit more and an Axis Cult Girl starts her act.

Axis Cult Girl: No way! It's you! It's been ages!

Y/n: Yeah, it really has! It's been a few years I believe right?

Axis Cult Girl: Yeah it has! Do you remember me?

Y/n: My memory's a bit fuzzy since I've been working a lot of quests. Maybe you can help jog my memory of you?

Axis Cult Girl: Of course! I did change a lot after joining the Axis church, so I understand why you don't recognize me! We were classmates, remember? We sat next to each other, you know, in class?

Y/n: You said we were classmates right? I remember sitting next to a girl, but I can't seem to remember what school we went to together.

Axis Cult Girl: It was Ple-

Y/n: *Image below* Nice try bitch. The school I went to started with a K. Plus, no one I know would join you crazed cultist. Now get out of my goddamn sight this instant, you sad pathetic waste of O2.

The girl stood there shocked at how I was able to get her to basically show me the truth without even realizing it. Just then, another Axis Cultist came up to me, but this time, it was a old woman.

Old Axis Cult Woman: What do we have here? A young man who's out for a little stroll? Might I interest you in this lovely detergent? Free of charge, and here's some more! A good gift from-

The Old lady shuts up as she hears my voice. As a matter of fact, everyone around me just runs far away from. I sigh and head to a restaurant. I then look over and see Kazuma and Darkness. I then walk up to them and take a seat.

Y/n: Hey, where are the others?

Kazuma: Kiria and Nekomimi took Rom and Ram back. They are way to scared to be out here without you protecting them.

Y/n: Understandable.

Kazuma: But there's one thing I've learned. The people of this town suck.

Darkness: To think I would be assailed by these heretics~. *moans* How wonderous~~!!

Y/n: What happened with her?

Kazuma: Meet more people trying to convert us, and they did the same thing when we were all together.

Y/n: I see...

Waitress: You drink sirs, enjoy!

A waitress then walks up to us and hands me and Kazuma a glass of water.

Waitress: Oh, and for the Eris disciple.

The waitress then puts a bone meant for a dog on the ground near Darkness's feet.

Waitress: From the manager. On the house. I do hope you like it miss.

The waitress then walks away, leaving just the three of us again.

Darkness: Kazuma. Y/n. I think we should move to this town.

Kazuma: Oh hell no.

Nicholas J.: Man! This was a fun chapter to write, especially when I was writing down Y/n going right for the balls on the first group of Axis cultists. These next few chapters will have some original parts, since I'm going to allow some things to stay true to the original anime, but other than that, the rest of the next chapter will just have some inserts to it. I'm going to have some fun writing the next few chapters, but unfortunately, I'm going to be seeing some family, so I'm going to have to be away from my source of how I write my stories, I use my computer to type the story chapters and then use my phone to create new book ideas and also publish book chapters and respond to comments. So, I'll be ending this chapter with what I'm like when I start writing a new chapter for this book, and when I get it done rather quickly.
