The Call
She stares at the muttering snail with sharp eyes, waiting for Mihawk to answer and only taking a small glance over her shoulder occasionally to make sure nobody is listening in.
There isn't much privacy on this ship, especially not for her, she's not a special guest like the Straw Hats so she has to rely on a more...'empty' part of the deck to make the call, since it's unlikely that Bartolomeo will let her go somewhere more secluded inside the ship.
Luckily for her though, it seems everyone is doing their own thing so she's granted the privacy she needs.
A click catching her ears and snapping her attention back toward the snail, it's large golden eyes are now open and staring at her irritably.
I gather he has seen it already...that's just grand.
Little does she realize that he has the newspaper splayed out on the desk in front of him right now as he sits inside his castle, so the information really hasn't had a chance to sink in for him quite yet.
"Pa, I--"
"I could throttle you." His voice is calm but definitely sharp, one could surely cut the air with it. The irritated-looking snail itself is even enough to make the girl feel nervous which is something she hadn't thought possible until this very moment. "So what is the situation between you and this 'Surgeon of Death'? Are you his lover or his bedroom slave? Does he pass you around to the rest of his crew?"
"What? No, nothing like that! What do you take me for?!"
"A fool." Well, that response was half-expected, in fact at this moment in time she was expecting him to say much worse. The girl taking another glance over her shoulder but nobody is there. Even so, it feels like something is telling her to be more wary. "How many times must I tell you to stay away from other pirates?!"
"P-Pa, please, keep your voice low. I'm on an ally ship--"
"I don't care." Okay, should've seen that one coming too. She can hear the male sipping his wine through the snail before he sighs to himself. "You have always gone out of your way to defy and disappoint me..." An airy chuckle escapes the snail suddenly, confusing the redhead more than ever. "You never change."
He almost sounds proud...is he screwing with me?
"Do you trust him?"
"Hm?" Honestly, the girl's still stumped by the sudden change in his attitude, she could barely process the hawk-eyed male's words.
"I said; do you trust him? And what have I told you about your attention span?!"
Alright, stop yelling at me!
Of course, she isn't about to raise her voice to her father, the man will hunt her down himself and reteach her some manners.
The one time she had been disrespectful toward the man she calls her father, she was a teenager and he only had to glare at her and she was already apologizing but alas, he still sparred with her far more brutally than usual to teach her a lesson.
Clearly it was an effective lesson too since she wouldn't dare disrespect him nowadays, not even as an adult that's currently on the other side of the world from him.
"Y-Yes..." She takes another glance behind to see that the side of the deck she's on is still seemingly clear before continuing in a low voice. "I trust him, more than anyone. Well, except you, of course."
Another sigh sounds from the snail but at least Mihawk's mood has seemingly improved a little.
"I understand. However, if he betrays you...I trust that I don't need to tell you what to do next."
"Yes, I know, but I don't believe he will harm me. So, does this mean you approve of us?"
Is there some kind of catch?
"Of course I don't approve! I just know you won't listen to reason and I have no desire to waste my breath. Just be on your guard in the new world, things are never as they may seem there."
"Huh?"
What does he mean by that?
Another click sounds as her father hangs up on her, a pout etching into the redhead's features as she mutters a low; "Thanks for the advice, Pa." under her breath before placing the mouthpiece back into the slot on the snail's shell.
That could have gone worse, at least.
"Glad to hear that I'm trusted, Kyo-ya." Once again she takes a glance over her shoulder and actually locks eyes with the smirking surgeon this time, the tattooed male is stood a mere inch from her back.
Teleportation again, I see.
"I knew I felt somebody close by."
"And you still continued the call? How reckless, what would 'Pa' say?" The raven teases calmly, his hand reaching past her and taking the newspaper, clearly curious about the article that got her into such a state. He's aware that there was something about them in the paper but he hadn't seen exactly what it was yet.
"I didn't sense a threat, your presence is a familiar one." A small smile forming on the girl's lip as she turns around to face the supernova properly, taking a subtle glance past the raven and making sure there's nobody around before she rests her head against his chest, her smile widening slightly when she feels him running his fingers through her hair. "You are trusted, after all."
Not that he needs telling after hearing that conversation.
"As are you, Kyo-ya. That's why I've made this 'arrangement' with you." A smirk tugs on the doctor's lips as the redhead peeks up at him with a stone-cold glare in her eyes, she sure takes after her father figure for that expression.
However it quickly becomes clear to her that he was only being sarcastic in reference to the news article, sexual arrangements aren't necessarily Law's thing, but teasing this girl most certainly is.
Two can play at that game though.
"So long as there's no sharing involved in this arrangement, Trafalgar." Her glare softens with these words and her lips slowly curve into more of a smirk as the doctor hums thoughtfully to himself.
"Are you getting possessive of me, Kyo-ya?" She doesn't miss the slight flicker of excitement in the male's eyes as he studies her face for any signs of proof, his hands now resting on her hips.
It would seem that subtlety has gone out of the window for these two.
"Perhaps. I'm a pirate after all, sharing just doesn't appeal to me."
"Good because I don't intend on sharing you either."
