Creating Legends Starters
Legends Arceus shook up the entire game when the game gave us the players a choice of three starter Pokemon that weren't originally the starters of Sinnoh. Furthermore, said starter Pokemon got regional forms as well!!! One thing that had been addressed here and there in the games as well as the anime is that the starter Pokemon in each region are one of two things. 1: They aren't native to their region or 2: The Pokemon are nearing extinction so the Professors breed them before giving them away to new trainers.
It's a really interesting concept if you think about it!!! So today, I'm gonna go region to region and determine what starter Pokemon each region would have if they'd ever get the Legends Arceus treatment.
1. Kanto-Piplup, Snivy, Scorbunny

Kanto, the game that's probably the least likely to receive the Legends Arceus treatment, would have the starters Piplup, Snivy & Scorbunny. The internet seems to be at an agreement that Piplup and Snivy would be the Kanto representatives oddly enough. I feel that Piplup would be a great choice as a Water starter considering Empoleon already has a significant Japanese influence from its Emperor design. A regional form for Empoleon could dial down the soldier/suit of armor concept and make it seem as though Empoleon represents his Emperor title more though 'fancier clothing'. I'd then give Empoleon the Water-Flying type or the Water-Ice type like it should've been in Sinnoh. Next I'd choose Snivy as the grass starter for the sake that Dragons have such a large influence on Asian culture therefore I'd make Serperior into a Grass-Dragon type. She'd keep her 'royalty' qualities while looking dragon-like like a Wyrm. Next I'd choose Scorbunny as the Fire Starter. Kanto has such a rich history regarding Ninjas and Psychics and I feel Scorbunny's soccer gimmick would translate really well into Psychics and their 'auras' as the early games depicted. Cinderace would clearly take on a form similarly to a monk whose 'pyroball' is instead a ball of Psychic energy or maybe even a Psychic familiar. It'd clearly be a Fire-Psychic type.
2. Johto-Froakie, Turtwig, Torchic

It's seems that everyone's on the same page when it comes to which three they'd pick for a Legends Johto game. It's pretty damn near obvious but also a fan released a trailer of what they thought a Legends Johto game would look like and it featured Froakie, Turtwig & Torchic as the regional starters. These ARE the perfect Pick I must agree. Why? I'll explain. Johto is the most rich when it comes to their Japanese history & culture. Froakie, being that it's evolution line is heavily inspired by ninjas, would make really good choice as the water starter. It's regional form could have Greninja tap even further into its Ninja inspiration and change it into a Water-Fighting type rather a Water-Dark. Turtwig would make a great choice as the grass starter for the sake that Torterra's regional form could look as though it's baring a cherry blossom tree on its back and become a Grass-Fairy type rather than Grass-Ground. Furthermore, Torterra could also take on the Grass-Dragon type and take on a regional form similar to that of a Dragon-Turtle: A mythical being prominent in numerous Asian countries that symbolizes Courage, Power & Fertility. Torchic would be yet another great choice for a Fire Starter. The Cock is a member of the Japanese zodiac, in which the Torchic line is based on chickens but also Blaziken utilizes a fighting style called Taekwondo which is the art of foot boxing which originated in Korea and has since been a prominent Asian art of fight. Many speculate a regional Blaziken would be Fire-Electric type but I can see it being Fire-Psychic type due to its tie in with the Zodiac.
3. Hoenn-Popplio, Fuecoco, Grookey

Hoenn, characterized by just how tropical it is and the fact that the region is 75% water, leaves much potential in regards to which starters would be in the Legends Hoenn lineup.
While fan predictions for the Pokemon Legends Hoenn starter trio are VERY divided, one thing for sure was that everyone agrees Fuecoco would be in the line up. Fuecoco would be a great choice as a regional starter for Hoenn given that Skeledirge's Pokedex entry details how they love to bask on volcanic stones making Hoenn, a region populated by volcanoes, a great choice for Skeledirge. It's Regional form could go all in on the volcanic concept and make Skeledirge a Fire-Rock type. My choice for a water starter would be Popplio given Hoenn is majority Water & it's tropical climate, it's perfect grounds for having a mermaid like Primarina around. A regional variant of Primarina can delve into how Mermaids were seen as sea hags/sea monsters who'd charm sailors and kill them. She could be a Water-Dark type. Lastly I'd choose Grookey for our Grass starter simply for the sake that Hoenn is a very tropical region, outside of the vast amounts of sea, Hoenn has more than enough forest to spare. Gorillas are native exclusively to Southern Asia and Central Africa. A regional form for Rillaboom could have it keeping its drumming gimmick and swapping out its drumset for a Taiko, Traditional Japanese drums. Since Rillaboom is a pure Grass type, a regional form would make it a Grass-Fighting type.
4. Sinnoh-Oshawott, Rowlett, Cyndaquil

These were the starters featured within Legends Arceus and while I don't understand how Cyndaquil fits into the equation, Oshawott and Rowlet were flawless choices.
5. Unova-Sobble, Litten, Treecko

Besides Treecko, the fanbase is at an agreement that Sobble and Litten would 100% be the fire and water starters for a potential Legends Unova game. Unova is a Pokemon region that takes place in the United States. People like to say it's based on New York, USA but that's clearly not the case as Unova features numerous United States landmarks from New York to San Francisco. Sobble would 100% be the water starter representative for the Unova region for... A controversial reason. Inteleon's entire gimmick is based around guns and the USA is horrible when it comes to gun control. On the flipside, depending on when and where in Unova a potential Legends game takes place, Inteleon's regional form could take inspiration from cowboys/gun slingers. It's new typing would become Water-Dark as Galarian Inteleon should've been in the first place. Next up is Litten as it'd be the Fire Starter for Unova. Litten's entire evolution line takes inspiration from wrestling, a sport most prominent in the United States and Mexico. Considering Litten comes from Alola, another region based on the United States, it'd only be appropriate if Litten was a starter in Unova. Incineroar's regional form would most likely not change too much from its Alolan Counterpart, but enough to make Incineroar less 'villainy' looking and take a few notes off of Palafin to look more heroic! Incineroar would appropriately gain the Fire-Fighting typing as it should've been in Alola. Lastly, Treecko would be the Grass starter in Unova. Still taking into account that a Legends Unova game would most likely take place in the wild west time period, I would make Sceptile take on the desert treatment as he'd look like a lizard you'd find in the desert: The Gila Monster. Gila Monsters are large poisonous lizards that inhabit the deserts of Southern America and Mexico. This would make Sceptile a Grass-Poison Type or Grass-Ground type.
6. Kalos-Squirtle, Sprigatito, Chimchar

Kalos, the region based on France, particularly Versailles & Paris, would most likely be set in the French Renaissance time period in a Legends Kalos game. I feel that Squirtle, Sprigatito & Chimchar would be the appropriate choices for a Legends Kalos game as it seems the fanbase is at an agreement with me. Then again, a Legends Kalos and Legends Galar game has similar choices when it comes down to starters. To begin, I'd choose Squirtle to be the water starter for the sake of the cannons Blastoise sports on its back. One prominent weapon the French would use in wars was the cannon. I'd imagine Blastoise's regional form would look similarly to its Mega Evolution being it sports one cannon instead of two. Blastoise would also be very bulky in terms of defense. In terms of Typing, I'd go with Water-Fire, like Volcanion due to its cannon/explosion gimmick or Water-Steel to reflect its cannon design. Next up I'd choose Sprigatito for the grass starter. For the sake that Meowscarada looks like a magician similarly to the Fennekin line, I feel that Meowscarada's regional form could look more like a jester OR less like a magician and more like a wizard and it'd 100% be a Grass/Psychic type. Lastly, I'd choose Chimchar to be the Fire Starter. Infernape's regional form could look as though it's wearing a suit of armor like a knight and get the Fire-Steel typing.
7. Alola-Mudkip, Tepig, Chikorita

Alola, the region whose arguably got the most obvious real life inspiration, is based on the state of Hawaii. Once again, it seems like the fanbase is at an agreement over which starters should be the Legends Alola starters and they'd be Mudkip, Tepig & Chikorita. Let's start with Mudkip, Mudkip is based on an Axolotl, an amphibian native to Central America, where Hawaii is located. Unfortunately, Axolotls face extinction in the wild but thrive in captivity. That's why I feel a regional Swampert would take on a Ghost-Water Type and look undead much similarly to Hisuian Typhlosion. Afterall, Decidueye, an Alolan starter evolution, is based on the Stilt Owl, an extinct animal hence its Ghost typing. Next is Tepig for obvious reasons as Hawaii is known for their large population of Native pigs as they're a valuable and largely respected source of food. Emboar's regional form would probably try to look like Maui from the film Moana:Bigger built and covered in tribal markings. Emboar would most likely become a pure fire type or Fire-Ground due to all the sandy beaches. Lastly is Chikorita as the Grass Starter. Meganium whose name is a play on Geranium, bares a Geranium flower around its neck. Geraniums are in fact native to Hawaii. A slight redesign and Meganium would be Grass-Fairy type.
8. Galar-Quaxly, Charmander, Chespin

Galar, based on Scotland & the United Kingdom, would no doubtedly have a Legends game take place during the English Renaissance period considering Sword & Shield dealt with the Legend of King Arthur. It seems the fan speculated starters for Kalos & Galar are similar and interchangeable. In fact, I originally wanted Sprigatito as a Starter for Galar but realized I needed to Put Chespin somewhere other than it's original region. Since I've mentioned him, I believe Chespin would be the perfect starter for Galar considering Chesnaught has an entire Shield/Juggernaut gimmick going on already. It's regional form could double down on said gimmick and make Chesnaught into a Grass-Steel type depicting a metal shield or a suit of armor like a knight. Next up I'd choose Charmander as the fire starter. Considering Charizard has a Gigantamax form and that Dragons were very prominent during the English Renaissance, it'd only be right that we get a dragon starter Pokemon. I'd have regional Charizard take on a more beastly design and make it into a Fire-Dragon type MAYBE even a Fire-Fairy type. Lastly, I'd choose Quaxly as the Water starter considering it's the starter in Paldea, a neighbor to Kalos and Galar. Quaquaval's regional form could consist of it looking like an English Nobel with their extravagant clothes and powdered wigs. It could potentially be a Water-Normal type, maybe a Water-Electric type if it draws inspiration from Benjamin Franklin who was an English Inventor most famous for being an American founder and inventing the lightning rod.
9. Paldea-Bulbasaur, Totodile, Fennekin

Paldea is the newest region to be introduced to the Pokemon Canon and its based on real world Spain. I personally don't know what time period a Legends game for Paldea could take place within since I'm not too knowledgeable regarding Spain so I apologize. I feel that Bulbasaur would be a great pick as the Grass starter considering just how important flowers are to the Hispanics between cultural significance to climate. A regional form for Venusaur could have it sporting a red carnation on its back, the official flower of Spain. I believe it'd become a Grass-Ghost type due to how flowers in Hispanic cultures carry a variety of meanings, the most prominent is love and death. Next I'd choose Totodile as the water starter as Spain has an abundance of Caiman Crocodiles and they're considered one of the most dangerous animals in the country. Regional Feraligatr could take on a smaller appearance, maybe even become Quadruped, to better look like a caiman. It'd probably become a Water-Dark type considering how dangerous they are but maybe even Water-Rock due to how they're often found in rocky-marsh areas. Lastly, I'd choose Fennekin as the fire starter and give it a design fans thought Meowscarada would undergo. Rather than a Fennec fox, Delphox would look more like the Spanish Red Fox and its 'dress' would look similarly to Flamenco dancers. It'd wind up becoming a Fire-Dark type MAYBE Fire-Fairy since it cannot remain a Psychic type.
Which starter trio felt the most fitting? Any trios you especially liked?
