𑁍 Chapter Twenty-Eight: Guide
"Dang, what happened to him?" Jaemin asks as he glances at the raven haired boy across the table aggressively eating his cheese burger.
The others' ears didn't fail to miss the tone Jaemin was using, he was amused. Just like the rest of them.
To Jeno's dismay.
However he didn't thought about that yet nor even realized it, currently been too busy with other things.
Like aggressively eating his cheese burger that he ordered, got served 10 minutes late for a dumb reason.
Which reminds him of this morning, thinking about it only made his bad mood build up more.
"First challenge was to be late for school, it was alright." Donghyuck briefly explains with a shrug of his shoulders.
Jeno shoots his head up to glare at him, "no it was not!" He snaps, obviously holding a grudge towards his tanned male friend.
"What do you mean? We finished your first challenge, great job by the way!" Donghyuck swallows down an upcoming snicker at Jeno's small issue.
"You said 5 minutes tops, it got to 6 minutes!" Jeno scowls harshly, as he then takes another bite of his cheese burger.
Call him a simp, but Jaemin finds it cute the way Jeno's eating his food whilst in an angry state.
Reminds him of a chipmunk with the raven haired boy's cheeks puffed out as he chews away.
"Hey, we got Starbucks though!" Mark said as an attempt to at least calm Jeno down a tad bit, lighten things up by looking at the bright side.
Even if it's blurry as hell for Jeno's perspective.
"And got scolded for being late, do you know how embarrassing that is?! I've never experienced that in my life until now, and I can guarantee it sucks!" Jeno rants to them.
Donghyuck snickers, couldn't hold it back much longer as he pats Jeno's shoulder. "It's not like the teacher made us do 10 push-ups, come on."
Mark pinches the bridge of his nose at Donghyuck's words, obviously not helping that much.
"The looks weren't helping too!" Jeno brings up with his face slowly heating up in embarrassment when he remembers the faces he got.
Surely, he wasn't used to it due to always having perfect attendance and being an early bird.
"They just looked at you though–"
"Donghyuck, they were gossiping to each other how I was surprisingly late!"
"Yeah, that's really not surprising to me– I can see why." The tanned male giggles mischievously before yelping when Jaemin kicks his foot from under the table.
Mark sighs before reaching over to pat Jeno's head gently, "I get you're uncomfortable, but that's because this is your first time."
"Don't make it sound like he's losing his V ca– ouch!" Jaemin glares at the tanned male who's moaning in pain.
Rolling his eyes, Mark smiles reassuringly at Jeno who's taking a break on finishing his food.
"Practice how to ignore that kind of stuff, trust me, you won't get anywhere far if you let those things get to you." Jaemin said.
Mark nods in agreement, giving a thumbs up at Jaemin beside him. "What he said, great advice, Jaem."
"Yeah, if you let things like that, even small looks get to you, how can you face your fears?" Donghyuck jumps in, slowly regaining his braincells.
It's not a question to any of them of what Lee Jeno's fear is.
It's obvious as it is, just by a small glance, you can see it.
Either Jeno isn't that discreet about it, or his friends just have great observation.
Sometimes, even Yangyang assumes Jeno must not know or realize it, hence why it's that obvious for them.
"Look at the bright side, you didn't miss anything important like quizzes and shit, oh! And didn't get detention!" Mark says in enthusiasm.
Donghyuck nods a little too much, Jeno thought his head would pop off at any second if he didn't stop right there.
"Exactly! That's literally better than our first time being late!" He exclaims before crossing his arms.
"Now I think about it, that's so unfair!"
Shaking his head at the tanned male, Mark replies with, "that's just unfortunate timing for you, Hyuck." Smiling sarcastically.
Jeno sighs as he continues to eat his cheese burger, whilst the other two were bickering on "who had it worst" for no reason, Jaemin manages to have his own world with Jeno in front of him.
"Hey," he calls out for him. The raven haired boy peers at him through his long lashes. "Great job on your first challenge."
"Uh... Thanks?" Jeno scrunches his nose, quite adorably for Jaemin's sanity to hold together.
Jeno's still a little flustered at himself, for taking this dumb challenge– to which he himself had started by the way, and has not quitted yet.
He is also still overthinking of his really recent actions, that he has always considered as bad behavior.
But after what Donghyuck and Mark told him this morning when they "guided" his poor ass through the first task, he doesn't know anymore.
Is it really a normal thing? Is it not that big of a deal unless you're doing it on purpose and the reason is just ridiculous–
Oh wait, maybe it really is a big deal.
That is exactly what they just did this morning.
Or maybe that's only because Mark and Donghyuck taught him the wrong way.
Is he being stupid right now?
If only Yangyang was here, maybe he has the answers.
Or maybe he's just as worse as Donghyuck, will probably do the same thing.
Blinking several times, he focuses on Jaemin's voice when the pink haired boy starts talking again.
"Wanna come by to my place?"
"Why would I do that?" Jeno murmurs.
"Consider it as a small reward for now on your first task," Jaemin grins with a little wink at the end.
"But for real, you should come over.... Or you could stay longer with those two." He nudges his head to the direction of the bickering boys beside them.
Jeno gulps and didn't have time to think, because the only thing he was curious about is; what if Jaemin can answer his questions.
Or worse, what if Jaemin can guide him instead of the others. Because that clearly didn't go that well– at least he thinks it didn't.
He's so confused.
"What do you say, pretty boy?"
Pursing his lips full of sauce, Jeno nods his head curtly and mumbles. "I'll go with you..."
Jaemin was low-key surprised, he didn't have high expectations for Jeno to agree with him. After all, he thought the younger boy would refuse because he has to "study".
But of course he wouldn't mention that right now, not when Jeno is already agreeing. It could change his mind.
So he widens his grin before handing over a few tissues to the raven haired boy, "didn't know you can be a messy eater sometimes, pretty boy." He teases.
Jeno just huffs, ignoring the blush growing on his cheeks as he takes the tissues and hastily cleans his face, quietly and shyly asking Jaemin if he had missed anything.
