We threw Murphy into the room in chains- had to make it believable. He landed hard, swore under his breath, and I didn't even bother to watch the rest. My job was elsewhere.

I found Abby sitting alone, hunched over, like the weight of the world was pressing into her spine. I sold down into the seat next to her.

"Any progress on the Kane problem?" I asked

Her head snapped up.
"The Kane problem? Is that what you think this is? No. No there's no progress." She said

"That's not what I meant. What if I told you the primes have a way to save Kane? But to do it, you'd have to turn him into a nightblood first." I say

Her eyes narrowed.
"What are you talking about?" She asked

"Come inside. I'll show you." I gestured as I stood.

"They call it the miracle of sanctum. All you need to do is teach them how to make nightblood, and that's yours, well kane's I mean. You make him a nightblood, you download his mind. That's it. It really is a miracle." I explain to her

Abby's voice dropped.
"His mind is gonna go in another persons body?" She asks

"You've done worse, haven't you? The ark. Mount weather. Becca's lab." I list

"No. We did that to survive. For all of us to survive." She snapped

"And we did. We survived. Now we get our humanity back." I say

"By taking innocent lives?" She pressed

"Russel told me that his people would volunteer for this. If the primes can make nightblood, then they can bring back all of them at once. It would be the most spectacular thing that's ever happened here, and people would love you for it." I say

Her gaze hardened.
"That doesn't sound like you, Diana." She said

"I know." I softened my tone just enough.
"It's just- Kane should be here, Abby. More than the rest of us combined. We've been trying to be the good guys. But he's just good." I say

Her eyes filled, and for a moment I almost pitied her. Almost.

"And this isn't just about you. We need him more than ever. If he could help negotiate peace in polis, then he can save us here and now." I said

Her eyes snapped to mine.
"I wasn't aware that we needed saving." She said

"We don't. It's just figure of speech. Listen to me. Abby, I know you blame yourself for a lot of things, like me. I know you blame your addiction for what happened to kane. Abby, I'm afraid of what will happen to you if you lose him too. Clarke, can't lose you either." I said

Her shoulders shook. She hugged me, trying to keep her tears back.
"Okay, I'll do it" she said

I smiled behind her shoulders.

Easy peasy.

Later, I placed the Lees' mind drives on the table.

"The lees have been part of our prime family for over 200 years. How can we just erase them forever?" Mom said

"We don't really have a choice. I've done my job. Abby will show us how to make nightblood, but only if we bring her lover back." I reply

"Why come to me and not your father?" She asked

"Dad thinks with his heart, this body is proof of that. But we have to be practical. We have zero hosts, so we either die in these bodies, or we wipe the lees and live forever. Mom once Abby shows you how to make nightblood, we'll never be on ice again. The best part, no more nulls, no oblation. Anyone can be a host. We'll have the genetic pick of the litter." I explain

Mom stared at the drives, then at me.
"Thank you for your sacrifice" she said.

Then wiped them clean. I smiled.

I stepped into where we were holding Bellamy.

"I don't want to fight, okay?" I said

"Why are you here?" He spat

"Because we're both struggling to live with this. And I was hoping maybe we could help each other through it." I said

He sighed, shoulders slumping. I slipped my knife free, ready to finish it- until footsteps echoed.

Murphy and my father walked in.
"You went to my father?" I asked

"I take big swings" Murphy said flatly

"What are you doing?" Dad asked

"Saving us. He knows you killed Diana. And unlike the snake behind you, he will cry over spilled milk." I said

"Enough. What the hells matter with you? Have you become so callous to the feelings of others you don't remember what it's like to lose someone you love?.... I know you're in pain. I know you want revenge. I would too. We had a chance to bring back our daughter and we took it. We didn't consider the consequences." Dad said, his eyes on Bellamy.

"For gods sake-" I start

"Be quiet." Dad snapped.

Murphy raised a hand.
"Maybe you should just let the man speak." He said

"Shut up, Murphy" Bellamy and I said at the same time.

"I think you should hear him out. I think we can trust him." Murphy told Bellamy

Bellamy's eyes narrowed.
"Do you now?" He asks

"You can. Look, I can't bring Diana back, but I can guarantee safety for the rest of your people. We'll share everything we've learned about surviving on this moon." Dad said

Bellamy's gaze snapped to the window, seeing their ship take off. Then back at Murphy.

"Why did our ship just take off?" He asks

"Abby's showing them how to make nightblood." Murphy answered

Bellamy's face hardened.
"I take it she doesn't know Diana is dead. You're gonna have to kill her, me, and everyone else. You think my need for revenge is strong? There's only one way this ends." He spat

"Bellamy stop. All right? You don't want them to kill all of us. Just think." Murphy begged.

I moved at him, knife ready.

"Josephine!" Dad shouted. But instead of stabbing, I cut his chains.

Bellamy surged forward, slamming dad against the wall, choking him.

"Bellamy, don't do this!" Murphy yelled

"Sorry, daddy. Violence is all they know. If killing him is what you need, then do it, but let the violence end here. An eye for an eye." I said sweetly

Bellamy's grip trembled, then he yelled, releasing my dad. 

"Big swings" I muttered to Murphy, sliding the drives into his hand.

After things calmed down, I crossed the room to Bellamy.

"Look. I'm not a complete monster. Here" I said quietly

I held out a necklace- Diana's. His hand shook as he took it. He stared down at it, jaw tight, eyes glossy.

He nodded once, trying to hold himself together.

"Yeah, you're welcome. Anyhoo-toodle-loo" I smirked and strolled out.
