"Bellamy I need some air....just a second. I need to think" I say, trying to calm the storm in my chest over Madi.

"I'll be here in you need to talk, okay?" He nods, and I give a faint smile before stepping outside.

I take a long walk, letting the cool air hit my face, but it doesn't ease the weight in my chest. Madi...Octavias second, marching into war. And here I am, feeling helpless. What was I doing? Walking instead of finding a way to stop it. I round a corner and slip into a tent, trying to focus, to think.

And then I see them- Bellamy and Clarke. Their faces tight, serious. Something has changed.

"What did you do?" I ask, my voice barely above a whisper, looking at Clarke first, then Bellamy. His eyes meet mine, full of that steady, quiet strength, before he sighs and begins to explain.

Time passes, Bellamy pacing while Clarke and I sit, our minds spinning with the implications.

"You're a good brother, Bellamy. I'm sorry that I thought I could-" Clarke starts

"Kill my sister?" He interrupts, his voice sharp but calm. She nods. I exhale.

"I'm sorry I even considered going along with that plan" I tell him, shaking my head at myself.

"Truth is, if she was anybody else, I would've beat you to it." Bellamy admits, a hint of humor in his tired eyes.

"I don't know about that. Maybe the old Bellamy, but not this one." Clarke laughs slightly

"Suddenly I'm the one letting my heart rule my head" I laugh softly

"Mama bears don't think. They just protect their young." Bellamy says, a small smile tugging at his lips. I can't help but smile back, feeling the weight  lift some.

Then miller walks in, gun raised, and Octavia follows.

"Octavia-" Clarke starts

"Take her" Octavia commands

"You're under arrest for the murder of Kara cooper." Miller says, cuffing her.

"What? No. This is insane." Bellamy protests

"Is it? We weren't taking the worms, the eggs are already loaded into the rover, so what was cooper doing there?... carful big brother, or I'll think you helped her and we don't have enough prisoners to settle this in the arena" Octavia says, her gaze sharp and dangerous.

"It wasn't either of them.... It was me." I speak up, my voice steady despite my racing heart. All eyes turn to me.

"You?" Octavia asks, disbelief in her tone.

"Don't act like you don't believe it. You made Madi your second out of spite. You were marching an innocent little girl into a war. I wasn't going to just sit there" I glare at her, my anger and fear coiling tight.

"Take Diana and lock her up. Let Clarke go. Looks like we're gonna have to settle for an execution." Octavia orders. Miller moves to drag me away.

"Keep Madi safe. Please, both of you. Promise me" I yell

"I promise"  Bellamys voice comes through, m steady and strong, as they pull me away.

I kneel, cuffed, bracing for the worst. Then the door opens- Indra steps in, Madi behind her.

"Mom!" Madi runs, and I scoop her up.

"Madi" I whisper, holding her tight.

"She was ready to burn this place down if she couldn't see you." Bellamy says quietly

"Thank you for letting me say goodbye" I murmur

"Diana, this isn't goodbye" he tells me

"Octavia's sick. They say she might not wake up" Madi informs me

"Okay, Madi, that's enough. We can't risk the child being seen here. She'll be safe now, and so will you" Indra says, gently taking her away.

"Be quick" she orders, and they leave.

"What did you do?" I ask Bellamy

"Montys algae." He answers simply

"Oh my God" I murmur, realizing the weight of what he's accomplished.

"As head of the army, Indra can accept Diyoza's terms for peace. By the time Octavia wakes up, if she wakes up-" he begins

"She will. You said John was fine. He didn't even have a doctor." I cut in

"I poisoned my sister, Diana." He admits quietly

"I know it's hard." I say taking his hand.
"But she was willing to destroy the last survivable land on earth just to win a war. Not to mention kill the people we love." I say

"She was going to kill you" he murmurs. I look up at him.

"I-... I couldn't let her kill you. Suddenly I feel like my heart is leading my head" He admits

"Bellamy" I whisper, wanting him to hear me.

"No, diana. I need to say this. For six years, I thought about you everyday. Wondering if you were even alive. Thinking about what happened the day we left. I never knew i could love someone this long without seeing them. But I do. I love you, Diana. I have, and I always will" he confesses, stepping closer.

I stare, my chest tightening.
"I waited six years to hear that" I whisper, stepping closer to meet him.

"I love you too" I smile, and our lips meet. The feeling floods back- six years of longing, fear, hope- all of it in this moment. I never want to forget this, him, the way he makes me feel safe and seen. 

We part just slightly, heads resting together. I laugh softly.

"You have impeccable timing, sky boy" I tease

"Give me a break. I waited six years for this, grounder girl" he laughs, and I can't help but melt.

"You should probably go" I laugh. He nods, grinning.

"We're almost there. Indra will take over for Octavia. Then once Wonkru surrenders I'll come and get you out. we'll head back to shadow valley. Together." He says

"Together" I echo, smiling, feeling the first spark of calm hope in a long time.
