"The towers less than a mile away. One more time, all we have to do is plug this into the junction box at the base of the tower. Sat-star-one is the name of the dish." Ravens voice was sharp as she held the tablet, explaining everything.

Clarke and I nodded sharply.

"Sat-Star-one. Everything is set. Once the tablet is connected, the dish will align itself with the Ark. the graphic will flash green, and that's how you know it's locked on. When it says send, you hit send, and the power-up signal will turn on the lights, and that's it. Are there any questions?" Raven asked

"Yeah, why are you smiling?" I said, narrowing my eyes.

"Because without comms, even with the power on we still can't open the hanger bay door from inside the rocket" Raven said with a sly grin.

Bellamy frowned.
"Wait- how is that a good thing?" He asked

"She gets to take her space walk." Clarke answered for her. Ravens grin widened.

Before I could react, John appeared- running, gasping, dragging the oxygen generator with him. Alone.

"Murphy? Hey, Murphy! Hey, hey, come on. Murphy, where's Monty?" Bellamy called, stepping toward him.

John dropped the generator with a grunt. His face was pale, frantic.
"He's in trouble. He had to expose his hands. He's passed out. Look, if we go back now we can get him.... You my can be impressed with me later, we got to go" he said

"Aligning the dish is a one person job. Clarke can handle it. Diana you help me get the generator inside. Bellamy help Murphy. Go" Raven cut in immediately

"Bellamy-" I started

"If this is one of those moments where you tell me  to use my head-" he starts

"No." I said quickly, my throat tightening.
"I was just gonna say...hurry" I say

"You too. Lead the way" he said, turning to John.

"Monty's pack. Everything's inside. It's gonna take you a good ten minutes to get back from the tower and down to the cockpit. You have to leave that tower with ten minutes on the clock or you'll be left behind." Raven said

I glanced at my timer. Thirty-five minutes left.

"Ten minutes. I got it. Any last advice?" Clarke asked

"Yeah, run fast" I told her.

She nodded once, the took off. Raven and hauled the generator inside.

"Emori! Harper! Echo! A little help here?" I yelled. Emori and Harper rushed over and grabbed the generator.

"Don't drop it. You and emori load the generator. Echo, Diana, and I will take my suit." Raven ordered

"As soon as this is tied down. I'm going after Monty" harper said

"Like hell you are." Raven shot back

"What's wrong? Where are they?" Emori asked nervously

"They'll be fine. Everyone has a job to do. Echo- where the hell are you?" I yell

Silence.

"Oh, for crying out loud" Raven muttered. We started loading the suit ourselves.

"Hurry- we are running out of time" emori urged

"Can we make it. Echo!" I shouted again.

We got the last pieces tied down, and I scrambled back down the steps.

"I'm going to find her" I told Raven, then sprinted off.

Up the stairs, through the glass, I saw her. Candles flickered on the ground. White war painted streaked her face. A knife hovered above her stomach.

I pushed inside.
"Wouldn't it be easier to just walk outside?" I ask

"Get out, Diana. Go back to the sky where you first belonged. I belong nowhere." She said, her voice breaking.

"You do that, you die a coward. Not a warrior" I said firmly.

"I betrayed you. Multiple times. Why are you trying to save me?" She cried

"Because everyone deserves a chance to change. I'm afraid to, Echo. We're about to head to space, where we will be tested every minute, of every day for the next five years. I'm not going to lie to you- I still don't trust you. Maybe I never will. But you are strong, and we have a better chance of surviving if you're up there with us." I said

"I have no clan anymore, Diana. What would I be surviving for?" She asks

"You may not be Azgeda anymore. But you are Wonkru. Survive for me" I said firmly.

She faltered. Raven stormed in, breathless.
"Whatever this is, finish it. Twenty minutes till launch." She said

I held my hand out.
"Let's go" I said

Echos knife clattered against the floor. She took my hand, and I smiled.

"Put this back on. Now." Raven shoved the suit piece into her chest. Echo slipped it on as we walked out.

"Clarke?" I asked Raven

"Nothing yet. She still has time" she said

I nodded- then agony tore through my skull. I cried out and fell to my knees. Flashes- voices- commanders. When it passed, I gasped for breath.

"Diana! What happened? Are you ok?" Raven knelt beside me

"The commanders showed me something. I have to go get Clarke" I staggered up.

"You don't have much time" she warned

"I know" I said

When I reached the lab, Bellamy, John, and Monty had just entered. Relief cut through the panic.

I grabbed a tool from the table.

"Diana- what are you doing?" Bellamy asked

"I'm going to get Clarke" I answered

"Diana, you can't. We don't have much time" his hand closed around my arm.

"The commanders showed me something. I have to do this." I tell him

His eyes were wild.
"What if you don't make it back? What if I lose you, when I just-finally- got you?" His voice cracked

My heart shattered.
"Bellamy, I-...You've shown me things I've never thought I'd feel. That you can be strong and still love. That you have to believe in yourself so others can believe in you. You're kind, protective, stubborn, special. And you're special to me. I've never wanted to protect someone with my whole life before. But then you came along, and everything changed. I have to do this- for you. For all of us" I say

"You save us- but who saves you?" His voices trembled.

"You already did" I whispered

He stepped closer, hands finding my waist. My hand rose to his neck. His lips crushed into mine, desperate, raw. Electricity tore through me, my heart threatening to break free from my chest. For a moment, there was only us.

When we pulled apart, we leaned forehead to forehead, breathing each other in.

"I love you, Diana. I always have" He said

"I love you too, Bellamy" I replied

His voice cracked.
"I can't let you do this. I can't lose you" he says

"I can't lose you either." I whispered. My hand trembled as I pulled the injector from my pocket.

"And I'm so sorry" I cry. His eyes widened when he felt the prick in his neck. He slumped into my arms. I lowered him gently, tears stinging my eyes.

Everyone stared in shook.

"Get him inside the ship...please" my voice broke. John and Emori lifted him and carried him into the rocket.

I turned to Raven, my chest burning.
"I won't make it back. But Clarke will. You have to leave without me" I said

I looked one last time at Bellamy, unconscious inside the rocket.

"John" I called. He came over to me.

I slipped my necklace into his palm. The ring glinted under dim light.
"Tell him I said take care of this for me" I said

John swallowed hard.
"I will" he nods

I stepped back, helmet in my hands.

"Thank you. For everything" I whispered to all of them.

And then turned and ran into fire.
