As I walked into the room where they were chaining up Emori, jackson was leaning over John, patching him up. His face was pale, tense, but of course John still had enough energy to be a smartass.

"How long will she be out?" Echo asked, eyes flickering to Emori like she was afraid to even blink.

"The sedative in the tranq-sticks should last up to three hours." Jackson answers

Miller crossed his arms.
"Hey, what about the mothership? They're gonna think it's us, how do we warn them?" Miller asks

"We don't. Radios don't work down here. For now, we worry about ourselves" Bellamy said. His voice steady, but I could tell by the way his jaw tightened that he was thinking the same thing I was- things were about to spiral, fast.

"John, are you ok?" I asked, my eyes moving over the bandages on his arm.

"He's wounds are superficial. You're lucky" jackson said

John scoffed, glaring at him.
"I'm lucky? Sorry. Is that our professional diagnosis? Because if so you suck at being a doctor." He said

"Murphy" echo cut in

"What? No, what? I'm dying to know what he thinks turned my girlfriend into the monster that just attacked me" he snapped

Clarke moved closer, holding up a book.
"It's all right here. For two days Heaven is hell. And friends become foes. Whatever is in the air, it affects people too" she says

"Why are the rest of us ok?" Miller asked

"I don't know but according to this, it comes from the plants." Clarke answers

John laughed bitterly.
"It's a children's book" he says

"Yes, but it's coming true. When we were running from the bugs, emori went down in the brush. It's probably why she lost it first." I said

"First?" Echo eyes narrowed

"We're all breathing it in." Bellamy said grimly

"If it's the air out there, then we'll stay in here. We are gonna ride it out" miller insisted

"That's a great plan, miller. What happens when we're trapped in here and the rest of us lose our minds?" John shot back

I sighed. Much as I hate to admit it, John had a point.
"John's right. There's more restraints in the school. I'm guessing they're everywhere. We need to separate" I say

"I'll stay with emori" Echo said quickly

I gave her a nod.
"Alright. Let's get everyone settled" I said

Bellamy and I make rounds, making sure no one had weapons and everyone was secured. It felt wrong, chaining up my friends, but it felt even worse imagining one of them snapping and killing the others. When we finally walk into the room with Clarke and John, my patience was running thin.

"Okay, echoes with emori. Jackson is with miller upstairs. No ones armed. Now it's our turn. Gun" I said, looking at John.

He hesitated but eventually handed it over. I held it for a moment, meeting his eyes before setting it out of reach.

"What'd we miss?" Bellamy asked, his voice carrying that mix of authority and exhaustion he wore so well.

"Okay, consider this time to work out your differences." I said, moving to my chain.

Bellamy secured John first, then locked himself up, tossing me both keys.

"Why do you get to keep everyone's keys?" John complained

"Relax. Bellamy will have mine" I said, locking my chain before tossing my key to him.

"Satisfied?" I asked, and he slumped.

"I guess so. As long as the people who live here don't come home after they kill everyone on the mothership." He said

I shot him a sharp look.
"Nice one, Murphy." Bellamy muttered under his breath, but it made me smirk anyway.

John wasn't done though. He never was.

"God, I hate being tied up. Yet somehow whenever I'm with you, sooner or later we wind up here don't we? I mean first you hang me." He started pointedly at Clarke.

"Well, in fairness, I did that." Bellamy said

"Only after she forced your hand. And who could forget Lexa?-" John starts and my heart skips a beat when her name was mentioned.

-"Yeah I was tied up that night too. Just a disposable pawn in your game" he continued

"That's not fair" Clarke argued

"Neither was tying up me and emori in Becca's lab, but she was disposable too right? I know you remember that one Clarke because you drew a little picture of it in your memory book. Let me ask you a question. Did you draw a picture of Bellamy in the fighting pit too? Or maybe one of Diana being left behind?" He asked

"John, that's enough" I cut in sharply

"Don't make me gag you too" Bellamy added, then John groaned when his movements pulled at his wounds

"Jackson can take another look at the wound in the morning." Clarke tells him

"Oh, it's not from the knife. It's from the bullet wounds that I took from saving Bellamy's life from those armed psychopaths you put back in the battlefield" John shot back

Clarke stiffens, guilt flickering in her eyes.
"What the hell do you want from me, Murphy? I'm sorry okay, for all of it. I never meant for you to get hurt. But no matter what I do, someone always does. Is that what you want to hear, that I'm the bad guy? Fine. I'll be the bad guy. When I'm in charge people die, isn't that what you said?" Her voice cracks as she looks at Bellamy.

"Satisfied?" She asked, eyes darting back to John.

"It's a start" he mutters, settling back against the chains.

I barely have time to exhale before yelling erupts from upstairs- millers voice, panicked, raw.

"It's miller." I mumble, already pushing to my feet. My stomach tightens. This can't be good.

"Miller, what's wrong?" Bellamy yells

"Diana, I've gotta get up there now. Hand me my key." Bellamy adds, as millers voice echos through the halls.

I hesitate, only for a second.
"Fine, but I'm going with you. Throw me mine. Clarke- you're coming too" I toss bellamy and Clarke their keys, catching mine when Bellamy throws it. My pulse is already racing as I unlock the chain.

"We're coming!" Bellamy shouts as we sprint out of the room.

"Hey! What about me?" John yells after us, voice fading as we take the stairs up.

As we run I hear echos voice.
"Diana, what are you doing?" She yells

"Echo, it's okay, we've got this."  I assure her
"Jackson open the door!" I yell

"Jackson, open the door!" Bellamy pounds his fist against it, Clarkes voice sharp as she knocks too. Finally, it creaks open.

"The bugs. They're inside him." Jackson blurts, his voice panicked.

My eyes flick to miller, thrashing against the bed, sweat pouring down his face.

"What? Hey, hey-Did you see them?" Clarke asks crouches down, trying to help miller.

"Miller, stop so we can help you" Bellamy orders, but his voice doesn't reach him.

"Miller and I were talking about the terrarium and how I think the bugs are an early-warning system like the canaries in a coal mine, he opened it, and they must have gotten out." Jackson rushed to say

"They're dead everywhere else" I said, my mind racing.

"Just unhook me so I can examine him." Jackson pleads, practically shaking. Miller begs too, voice breaking, saying he can feel them crawling under his skin.

Bellamy glances at Clarke, who nods, and he moves to unlock jackson. My gut twists. Something isn't right.

Jackson bolts to his bag, searching.
"The scalpel, it's not here." Jackson says frantically.

My chest tightens.
"Bellamy-Clarke, I don't think this is real." I warn, holding miller down.

Then I see jackson holding a knife.
"Jackson what are you-" Bellamy starts, but her gets thrown down.

He slices millers arm as I lunge at him.
"Jackson, stop!" I yell

"Tranq him!" Bellamy yelled, Clarke jabs hers into jackson and I jab mine into miller. Both men go completely limp immediately, the room falling silent except for my own ragged breath.

"You want to tell me how two people can have the same hallucination?" Bellamy asks, eyes flicking between the unconscious bodies.

I shake my head, my stomach still in knots.
"We have no idea how to survive down here." I breath

And for the first time since stepping onto this planet, I'm starting to think we really don't.
