Personality
Kiera is best described as spunky and sassy. She enjoys teasing her friends, and laughs a lot. She is almost never serious, always trying to make people laugh as it makes her happy. She always tries to be happy, using it as a cover for how lonely she actually is.
She always hides her negative emotions, having a hard time expressing them because she's afraid to be a 'downer' to her friend's and family's happiness.
She has a tendency to blame everything on herself, always apologizing for even the slightest things she does. She hates being told what to do, and she may be a little bratty and not listen to instructions.
She's very protective of her friends and loved ones, always quick to step up and defend them if they need her help, and she is very smart, always doing great on her classes and studies. She's a little bit of a teacher's pet.

Backstory
When she was little, her father was almost always drunk and would scream at her, and when he was really angry he would throw things. Her mother always tried to protect her, but she often was also the brunt of his abuse.
At age 11, her mom died in a car crash, and not much later her father died, alcohol poisoning and the loss of his wife driving him to death. Kiera was sent to live with her grandmother, a rich woman who never had time for her. She grew up allowed to do anything she wanted, as long as she left her grandmother alone.
She eventually went to college to become a nurse, doing it for her mother, who always dreamed she'd become one. While she was just starting college, her grandmother passed away, but all her money was left to her aunt, who she barely knew. She was forced to start working to pay for her own college, and she did; working hard to make her dead mother happy.
