Lyra:The Prophecy

There was a dead silence that remained for a minute or two. Some oblivious campers were shouting in the background but they settled down when they caught on.

Chiron and the Cabin Heads were waved over and informed the situation. At this point I gave up and started viciously walking toward cabin eleven by myself. If I didn't leave camp, then the Prophecy can't happen. I could feel everyone's eyes burning into my head.

At least I hope it was. It would be quite painful to have a smoking crater in my skull. The weight of the eyes staring at we were shed as I unsheathed my sword and continued walking.

"Hey, Lyra! What are you doing?"

It was Peter, of course. Jimmy and the rest of my training team stood next to him. That one line struck me. Met with, siblings love, death, and fire. That was clearly the siblings aka twins of Aphrodite, Luka and Leila. Death was MJ and fire was Peter.

I shook my head, it was a hoax, a prank, some kind of sick joke. It just couldn't be a prophecy, I wasn't ready. There had been so much action for the past few years I really didn't want more.

I turned away and quickened my pace. Footsteps started disturbing the air, so I started to run. The only people who could beat me in a race were my own siblings, well if you didn't count people using powers.

Unfortunately this was Camp Half-Blood so people did use powers. The person in specific?

MJ.

A tugging sensation overcame my body and I was forced backwards. The grass tickled my feet as I floated back over to the Angry mob of demigods. The first person to speak was Leila,

"Spill it Thorn."

I just laughed and sat there. She had no power to make me talk and Piper probably wasn't willing enough to use charm speak.

Instead I simply say, "I quit the quest." And this time I'm able to walk away from the group peacefully.

~.~

It's been a couple weeks since I refused the quest. Everyone thinks of me as a whole different person.

The camp was quieter with most everyone gone. The cabin members that stayed avoided eye contact with me. I basically ruined my reputation as a caring and fun sibling. It was sort of a mutual code. Fun isn't fun if you harm someone permanently.

Although it hadn't happened yet I basically threw the whole world under the bus. That was enough to be shunned by the camp. The only people that talked to me were Peter, Jimmy, and Chiron.

Even though the two demigod were planning to head to Jimmy's mortal friends, Peter convinced him to stay for a few more weeks. Probably to help persuade me into doing the quest. If I was remembering correctly this was their last week before leaving.

Today I think I finally am going to get it through Chiron that I wouldn't be going on a quest. My plan was pretty simple. When I go over to the Big House to see the Centaur I would swear on the River Styx that I would not go outside the Camp-Half Blood borders by force or persuasion.

The Breakfast horn sounded and it was total chaos. Socks flew everywhere and weapons were hidden in very interesting places.

Connor Stoll, Our head councilor order everyone around in preparation, "Cabin, fall in!"

As I got up to grab my own jacket,  everyone was already rushing out the door including Connor.  I felt a little tug of sadness in my heart. Demigods are social creatures and I was no exception. I threw on my ebony leather jacket and combat boots. Going under my bed I grabbed my greatsword. it has a story similar to Clarisse's spear.

My father was delivering some packages to the camp a year or two ago and wanted to give me something special for missing my birthdays, never telling me who my mother was, and leaving me here as a baby.

The sword was named Kakó or mischief in modern day Greek. I was tempted to rename it but couldn't think of anything to change it to. It was a basic greatsword which is pretty hard to hide when I'm around mortals so that in itself is a good reason not to go on the quest. I swear mortals are gonna ask me why I have a lamp strapped to my back or something.

To my knowledge only a few campers learn to use this type of weapon since it is hard to handle and is impractical. Sometimes it makes me think that Hermes is a giant idiot.

A demigod that masters in stealth is supposed to carry a 5 ft sword around? Yeah it definitely was hard the first the first few months. Then the following months was purely training.

I strapped the scabbard and sword to my back with the muscle memory expertise. Soon after, I was able to catch up with everyone.

~~~
A clop of hooves entered the pavilion and everyone went quiet.  Like every meal we all cried, "To the gods!" And started filling our glasses.
A few minutes in people went to sacrifice their food. The smell of the smoke always made me happy. It meant the gods were here and were paying attention. Sadly though today I wasn't in the mood.
As it reached my turned to burn my portion, I threw in a slice of ham from my sandwich.
Hermes, as god of travelers please just let there be another way for me to end this prophecy.
The fire only gave a small crackling pop. With a deep breath I closed my eyes and settled my nerves. No matter what happened today I was going to free myself of the prophecy. Somehow and someway.
Instead of bearing towards the cabin's table I veered off to the big house. On the way I caught Chiron's eye and made a 'come on' motion with my head. After excusing himself from whoever he was talking to he caught up with me.
"Lyra dear, what do you want to talk about." The centaur said in a annoying patient tone.
Shaking my head we arrived at the building and I held the door open. "Chiron, you know what we are going to talk about so I just have a few things to say before you give me the usual speech. Also if you are looking for the rubber duck that you use during a late night swim, interrogate Alice and Julia."
Chiron blushed slightly in embarrassment before a grimace overtook his features. He walked into the house quickly and sat down on his familiar wheel chair with a huff.
"Please Lyra, if Percy was able to go through so many prophecies then at least complete this one."
Anger boiled in my stomach and my feet started to tingle. Holding my hands up to my head I just poured myself out. It had been way too long and I just wanted a clean slate.
"Chiron, I don't want to go. I don't want to go. I can't. You're asking me to bring my initiates into danger. They aren't ready. If they are easily beaten by a daughter of Hermes then how are they going to survive something so much more dangerous. Not to mention it's asking for five of us to go and you know what will happen?"
"Honey, everything will turn out fine, it never states anything about a loss of li-"
"Then what about, The hero's soul, cursed life requires? Does that sound like a loss of life? A simple choice ends all days. You are telling me that this won't involve death. Also who the heck is Asgard's king? I can't do this Chiron, I'm not like Percy. No matter what happens. I don't care that the seven survived. It was incredible luck and the fact that no one dies later on beside Jason. He dies later which makes me sad but then Piper just heck off already. She get's over his death way too fast."
"..."
"Did I just ... y'know tell the future?"
"It's fine honestly I was expecting this sooner or later."
"Wait you mean I wasn't breaking the fourth wall?" I said in a light voice.
"Okay so I need you to go to Annabeth. Then tell her to take you to Magnus Chase and it's about Asgard. Then after that you come and meet me ok?" He sounded very serious which wasn't my strong suit.
To make this conversation less awkward I cracked a hopeful plea. "Please tell me he is just the unknown twin of Annabeth who has been hiding in the Athena cabin."
"You wish. Now please just go you've given me a wonderful headache and I need to get my duck."
~~~

Like usual my life got weirder. Annabeth knew how to drive and also convinced Argus, our security guard and usual driver to give us his car.

At first Annabeth thought I was joking. She laughed and stated that she didn't know anyone named Magnus.

Everything changed when the Asgard nation was mentioned. Almost instantaneously she shushed me while grabbing my wrist to drag me away. Throwing me in the car she came back a few minutes later with car keys.

We disappeared without a trace.
