Results Day.
No matter how many times she reads the letter, it simply does not sink in.
History: A+
Art: A
And it only cost her sanity.
She had texted Mihawk right away, sending him a picture of the results just to further prove herself but she'd wager he hasn't seen it yet since her phone hasn't made a sound since, Sabo smiling at her from across the table as he chimes a kind; "Congratulations! You must be relieved!"
Ace sitting off to the left side of them but the raven doesn't speak much, instead reading his own results with a grin, he excelled at Music and Geography but failed Math completely, to nobody's surprise. At least he's content with his results though.
The trio decided to head to a nearby café once they had picked up their outcomes, Sabo was first to read his and naturally found that he had passed all classes, shockingly he didn't do too well with Geography though, only earning himself a C- as his final grade.
He blamed Ace for this though, apparently the raven had him tutoring the subject so much that Sabo ultimately became quite disdainful of it, by the time he had his exam he was sick and tired of answering questions about Geography and it destroyed his flow completely.
A sudden vibration catching Kyo's attention as a message lights up on her phone.
Pa:
Well done.
Something about that reply dampens her mood however, she wasn't quite sure what she was expecting from him, Dracule Mihawk isn't the sort to sing one's praises but she had thought he would be a little more energetic.
Her eyes darkening while a vague frown etches itself into her features, unlocking the phone and re-reading the message again, as if staring at it would change something.
No, 'well done' is good enough.
It's far more than what he would say to anyone else.
"What's wrong with you?" Sabo cheerfully questions, the blonde leaning over the table to get a closer look at the redhead's pouty expression, his smile never wavering as her cold stare meets his own. "This is all you've ever wanted, right?"
"...Yeah." She isn't exactly lying but even still, his question doesn't quite resonate with her, she has achieved her goal and yet she still feels rather empty.
She had assumed she'd feel good, fulfilled at the very least.
But no, instead she feels nothing.
Sabo's brows knitting together as he watches her attention shift back toward her phone, calmly closing her tabs before locking it and setting the device back down on the table, her disdainful stare resting on the slip of paper splayed out before her.
All this stress and for what?
"We should throw a graduation party~!" Ace blurts excitedly while folding his results up and slipping them into his backpack, likely intending to show his adopted father his achievements later.
"We're still cleaning up after the last party..." Sabo softly grumbles as his attention finally leaves the redhead, the look in his eyes resembles that of a pleading puppy, as if he's silently begging for Ace to reconsider the celebratory idea.
"Huh...then we'll have it next weekend~!!"
"That's still too soon!"
Kyo subtly listening to the boys bicker back and forth while deciding to fold her results neatly before sliding them into her handbag, she'll need to give them to Mihawk when he's home from his expedition since he'll technically become her employer when she begins to work at the museum, he'll need to keep a document of her exam results - especially since she specialises in Art and History.
The two degrees that will label her as 'qualified' for the job.
"What are your plans now that college is over anyway?" Sabo inquires, seemingly trying to shift the subject away from the idea of a party entirely, gaining himself a small hum from Kyo and an excited grin from Ace.
"I'm gonna take a break, probably join a band for fun since I now have a degree in music~!" The raven playfully muses, he has always been somewhat lazy but he's very talented and has charisma, so he gets away with being a bit of a slacker. Of course, having a rich father who'll happily keep him housed and fed doesn't hurt either.
The redhead watching the boy attentively; she can tell he's passionate about music by the mere sparkle in his eyes alone, although he tries to downplay it by claiming it's 'just for fun' - perhaps that's what a passion is supposed to be though. Fun.
History is her passion; she finds it highly interesting and is always hungry for more knowledge, but is it fun to learn? Well, not always, especially when she's being tested on the subject.
"What about you, Kyo? What's your next goal?"
She hesitates for a moment at that question, there is something that she has always loved the idea of, something she would certainly find fun and has always silently hoped to do one day but she was taught not to open up about such things.
She wants to see the world; Paris, Rome, Egypt, Greece.
Mihawk has been all over and gone to each of these places at least a dozen times, she has always dreamt of accompanying him but she had to stay behind and focus on her studies, now she no longer needs to.
She's finally free from the shackles of schooling, she can see it all.
She especially wants to visit Romania, her adoptive father always goes there on vacation, she wants to find out why. Find out for herself what's so interesting about that destination.
A small smile unwittingly gracing her lips as her eyes aimlessly stare down at the table, a slight glimmer shining in them as she imagines each and every country, soon straightening herself up in her seat however and forcing her excitement back as her expression turns nonchalant.
"My goal is to...become a curator, nothing more."
She almost overshared with them, nobody wants to hear her babble on about travelling.
She's sure of that much.
Still; she can't help the little grin that plays on her lips as she thinks back to all the paintings she has seen of France and Italy, the landmarks and the culture, it's all so fascinating to her.
Maybe one day.
