The Hospital.

So bright...

Kyo's eyes sting in protest as she squints them open, the lights around her dazzling her far more than the sun ever could. Her blurry vision slowly but surely adjusting to the room; everything is either white or blue, there's still a subtle beeping in her ear and most notably of all, a tube running down her arm and going underneath a bandage stuck to her hand.

The tube looks purple and piques her curiosity, although as she reaches for it with her free hand, a warmth envelopes her wrist, stopping her attempt and drawing in her gaze.

The view of his face is hazy but she knows this presence and touch all too well; she can just barely make out his tan skin, dark facial hair and golden-hued eyes. "Don't touch it, Kyo-ya, it's keeping you hydrated." she doesn't vocally respond to that, merely dropping her hand at her side obediently as she tries to blink away the blurriness, her throat feeling so sore that she can barely talk.

"W...Where...?" And the one attempt she takes at speaking only makes it hurt more.

"You're at the hospital, do you remember what happened?" She can feel his warm hand squeezing hers gently, the sensation bringing her a subtle comfort as she blinks a few more times, his face gradually clearing a little but it's still quite hard to see, the girl only offering a weak nod in response to his question.

When I'm out of here, I'll kill that bitch.

"Gi..." Tell him the name, that's all she wants to do, before she forgets it. "Ruh..." But her throat croaks into nothingness every time. Useless.

"We had to insert a tube down your throat in order to get the drug out of your system." Law calmly explains while reaching over the bed and grabbing a small table with wheels, pulling it toward the redhead, a notepad and pen already sat on top of the wooden surface, ready for her. "It's best you don't speak quite yet, it could potentially take 6 weeks to recover from this. For now, try to write messages to me instead."

Easy for you to say, my arms feel like lead.

Despite this, she still reaches for the pen, Law pulling his hand away from her own and watching her. Her vision won't clear fully no matter how many times she tries to blink the horrible effect away, her fingers weakly gripping at the writing instrument, struggling to hold it in place as she begins to slowly write out the woman's name, her handwriting is surely awful and probably not even coherent but Law doesn't complain, instead just observing until she finally drops the pen.

"Gunrumry?" He calmly reads aloud, causing a small and painful huff of air to drift from her lips as she slowly shakes her head, the surgeon still tearing the piece of paper and taking it for himself however, his golden eyes studying every ill-written letter very closely. "Gummy...? Gumrummy...?"

So close, yet so far.

Her hand weakly rising to her face and lightly tapping the skin underneath her eye as a subtle hint, one that the doctor seems to understand.

"It's an i? Gim--Ginrummy?" Quick-witted as always, a small smile tugging on her lips as she softly nods, despite being determined to murder the woman for this, she did find the guessing game rather fun, especially the little look of uncertainty on Trafalgar's face.

The longer she's awake, the more her vision clears, it's still a little hazy but she can make out his features rather well now; the slight crease in his brows, his stormy eyes focused on her own and the bags that appear darker than ever underneath his eyes.

Her weakened hand reaching out again for the pen before she slowly begins to write a second and equally-incoherent note; "When did you last sleep?"

Though it looks more like it spells; 'where aid yoi last sloop' - writing in such a condition really is not an easy feat.

But he at least knows what she means this time without needing any help.

"I haven't yet, I figured I should wait until you wake up." She doesn't miss the slight pinkish tint to the man's cheeks as he averts his gaze toward the window, seemingly losing the nerve to hold her stare for once. "Just so you aren't confused and alone when you come around."

His words as well as the shyness he expresses whilst delivering them tugs madly on her heartstrings, her hand reaching out to touch his hair but falls short and lands in his lap instead, still drawing his gaze back toward her face though, her smile never fading and her voice sounding harsh and scratchy as she rasps a low "Thank..."

Funny, it was the first word she spoke to Mihawk since she didn't know how to properly say 'thank you' as a child when he first saved her life, how strange that she is now forced to say it again to the man that she's falling in love with.

Fate has an interesting way of unfolding.

"You're welcome. I'm gonna take a nap in the on-call room for a few hours, is there anything else you need before I go?" His question earning a small nod in return as she reaches for the pen once more, she would have just said the boy's name but with no further context, it might only give Law the wrong idea and she certainly doesn't want that.

"Sabo. I need cover at work." Sabo isn't exactly interested in museum work, he has made that clear on a few occasions but he's still a good friend and responsible enough to help Drake in her absence, she's sure.

"Cover? Can't Hawk-ya do it?" The girl merely shaking her head in response to that, her arm too tired to write down why, drawing a sigh from the raven's lips as he raises to his feet. "Alright, I'll get in contact with him."

"Thank..." The surgeon only humming in acknowledgement to that, leaning over the edge of the bed and pressing a firm kiss to her forehead before making his way toward the exit.

However, he seems to hesitate in the doorway for a moment before circling back toward her, taking a small remote from the shelf behind her bed and gently placing it within her hand. "Press the green button if you need anything and the red one if you're in a lot of pain, it'll page a doctor for you. I believe you're Penguin's patient for now, he will get you whatever you need."

Penguin, I remember that name...
