Chapter 1
(Hey guys! A lot of you said you wanted me to write this one, so here it is! This is only the first chapter, and it's kind of short, so it's just going to be a preview for now, since I have so many other stories to finish and what not. I hope you enjoy this! And sorry if it's really bad. I wrote whatever popped into my head, as usual. Love you all!)
"Violet! Not those! Those are the young master's favorite!"
I looked up from the delicate white rose I was trimming. Finny seemed urgent and scared.
"I thought you said to trim the white ones," I said, confused.
"Not the roses, the lilies!"
I had never seen Finny so upset with anyone before. It was like I had almost crushed his soul.
(Warning: Very stupid line ahead)
Souls, I thought, looking down to the ground. I then shook my heard violently. Stop thinking like that! You know better!
I had only been a demon for about a month now, and Sebastian was a great teacher, well, sort of. He kept that smug smile on his face through every lesson, and it was really getting annoying. I was being a lousy demon, yet he still smiled and said it all came with practice. Then there was keeping the secret from my friends and parents.
Parents! It was getting late, and they hadn't seen me for a few days. I had promised to visit them every now and then. The thing was, they didn't know I was living in the Phantomhive Manor. They thought I'd left for a boarding school.
"I'm sorry, Finny, it won't happen again, I promise! But I have to go. Tell Sebastian I'll be back in the morning!" I waved to him before he could respond, and then ran out the gate and toward my parents' house. Once the manor was out of sight, I picked up the pace. The first thing Sebastian had taught me was how to use my speed and control it. I'd mastered it easily, but it was the only thing I could do as a demon. I couldn't even control when my eyes change color. Luckily, I could feel when they started changing, so I knew when to look away from people and when I could again.
I reached my parents house a few minutes later, and slowly stopped running and fixed my dress and hair. I was lucky to have been born with black hair, Sebastian had said, so that my parents didn't have to ask me why I changed my hair color.
I knocked on the door with my gloved hand, which covered my black fingernails. A few moments later, the door flew open. My mother stood in the doorway, smiling at me. I smiled back and hugged her.
"Its nice to see you, dear," she said in her soft voice.
"Its good to see you, too, Mother," I replied. "It's been a while."
My mother pulled away from our hug and let me inside. I sat on the couch in my usual spot, and Mom sat in her armchair next to my father in his.
"How's school going, Violet?" My father asked warmly with a smile.
I smiled back. "Very well, actually. I'm passing all of my classes. One of the instructors wants me to transfer to a harder course, but I declined his offer. I told him I'm barely keeping up with my work and family. I don't need to have more work and not be able to visit home."
"Oh, don't worry about us," my mother said. "Take the classes if you want. We'll always support you."
"Thank you," I smiled.
I felt bad, but for the next half hour I sat there and told them the lies I had thought up on the way over, ones I knew they would believe. I told them about how wonderful the instructors were, so my mom wouldn't feel like she needed to speak with any of them, and I told dad how I was considering staying at the school over the summer to take extra courses. He seemed enthusiastic to hear that I was interested in keeping up with my studies.
After a while, I told them I was tired and headed up to my bedroom. I had never been a fan of bright colors, so my room was mostly red, black, and purple. Not a very good combination, but it was something.
I sat on my bed, with red sheets and a black blanket, and stared out the window through the dark curtains. Eventually, the sun set, and I turned and lit the candle beside my bed. I turned back around to look out the window. I saw something, and I jumped.
Out the window, I could see two red eyes glowing. I opened the window and stuck my head out, expecting to see Sebastian.
It wasn't him, but another demon, smirking at me. He jumped toward me, and I quickly closed the window, trying not to scream.
I grabbed a knife from my dresser and hid in under my dress. I walked down the stairs, told my parents I was going out for some fresh air, and ran out the door before they could respond.
I ran toward the back of the house, and saw him. He was still smirking at me. I pulled out the knife.
"Easy there, girly." He said. His voice was familiar. I couldn't quite place it.
"Who are you, and what do you want from me?"
"Do you really not recognize me? Only a month and you've forgotten your boyfriend's face?"
At that, I dropped the knife. "Jake?"
He lost his smirk and smiled at me. "It's me, Violet."
Tears stung my eyes as I ran over and hugged him. He hugged me back, tightly, then an even bigger thought made me pull away from him slightly.
"Jake, who did this to you? You weren't like this last time I saw you..."
Jake frowned. "You don't remember?"
I shook my head, confused.
Jake sighed. "You did, Violet. You did this to me."
(Alright. I realize this moved really, really fast. I honestly have no idea where that last bit came from. I was going to make it Sebastian, then decided against it, and now she has a demon boyfriend. Ya know, if she can stand to look at him after finding out she turned him into one. And stuff. If I keep rambling, I'll give away the whole story. Please vote and comment! If I get a lot of good feedback, I'll try to update soon. Love you all!)
