Chapter 2
"What do you mean? How could I have done this to you? I don't even understand what I am!"
Jake frowned. "Take it easy, Violet. I don't know how you did it, but that doesn't matter now."
I looked at him through teary eyes. "How does it not matter? I turned the most important person in my life into some filthy creature that feasts on human souls. I was going to find a way to get by, but now...."
"Hey," Jake said, holding my chin in one hand and putting his other on my shoulder. "We'll get through this. We can learn to live this way. I've got most of it already figured out. Besides, we get to live forever together. You don't have to worry about losing me."
"Really?"
"I'm not going anywhere."
I broke down sobbing, and he held me close to him, my head on his chest. He was a lot taller than me, but it felt right when he held me this way. I felt like I belonged.
"It's okay, Violet," he kept whispering to me while I cried. I wanted to believe him, but a part of me couldn't. I couldn't accept that after what I had done to him, everything would be okay.
I drew back and looked him in the eyes. He was smiling, and his eyes showed sympathy and reassurance. I gave a small smile and nodded, wiping away my tears.
Jake's smile brightened. He rested his forehead on mine, and we just stared into each other's eyes for what felt like an eternity.
Our eternity ended, though, by the sound of the front door of the house opening. I turned toward the sound, and when I turned back, Jake was gone.
"What's going on, dear?" Mom asked me once I came around to the front of the house.
"Nothing, Mom. It's just so nice out tonight, I lost track of time."
"I understand, dear."
I thought for a moment, wondering what I was going to say. Finally, something inside me felt a need to tell her something, so I wouldn't have to continue lying to her.
I took a deep breath. "Mom? There's something I need to tell you..."
She seemed to grow worried. "What is it?"
"I have to go somewhere, and I'm not sure when I'll be able to make it back."
"Where do you have to go?"
"I'm not supposed to tell anyone. It's a secret. I just wanted you to know, and I couldn't leave without saying goodbye."
"We can't even talk about this? You're already gone all the time because of school, and-"
"That's another thing. I'm not actually attending a boarding school. I am taking lessons, from some powerful people, too. They run a company."
"Is that all you want to do with your life? Run a company?"
"That's not what I want to do at all! I want to leave because I want some space, to think things through. I want to start my own life!"
"You're sixteen, Violet. Don't you think that's a bit young to go off on your own?" Mom asked, trying her hardest to be persuasive.
"Mom, I won't be alone. Jake said he would support me. He has money and-"
"Jake isn't good for you! He's probably stolen half of that money he has."
"Jake is a good guy! He cares about me and supports me!"
Mom shook her head. "You don't understand, Violet. He came over a couple of weeks ago looking for you. He's changed. And his eyes, blood red. I didn't believe in vampires until I saw him."
I stepped up to my mom and let my eyes change to red, and glared at her. "You mean like this?"
She screamed in terror, and fell backward. Then I saw my dad run up and kneel next to her. He looked up at me and saw my red eyes, and his own blue ones grew wide. "Who are you?" He asked.
I blinked my eyes, making them change back to their usual hazel color. "I'm Violet Rose, Dad. Your daughter. I'm also a demon, and I want to leave home before I accidentally hurt you or Mom." With that, I walked past them and up to my room to get my things.
Once done packing, I walked back downstairs and outside. My parents were still there, sitting on the porch. I looked at them, and felt a stab of guilt. They didn't deserve to find out this way. But there was no other way in such a short time. I couldn't stay with them anymore.
I knelt in front of them, and they stared in horror at me. I held back my tears. They couldn't see me cry.
"I'm still your daughter, Mom. You didn't give birth to me like this. I was human. Something changed me, and I need to go find out what and why."
Mom shook her head, tears running down her face. "You're not my daughter. Where is she!? Give me my Violet back you monster!"
I stood and stepped away. Dad glanced from my mother to me, then back again.
Mom stood, still fighting. "Get out of my sight! You're a monster! Bring me my daughter back!"
"Jake," I called. "Jake, I'm ready!"
Jake was beside me a moment later. Mom seemed to grow even more angry.
"You! You did this! You replaced my daughter with that.... that thing! Give her back to me! I want Violet back!!"
I felt tears start to fall from my eyes, and turned away from my screaming mother. "I love you guys. I hope you can learn to accept that this is what I am now, because there is no changing it. I'm learning from skilled demons how to control myself. Once I know, I'll come back. I really do love you. I don't want to hurt you." I turned back to them, tears streaming down my face. "Dad, I really, truly am still me. I hope you're able to believe me and forgive me." I turned away from my father, who seemed to be contemplating on if I was still me or not. "Let's go, Jake."
Jake nodded, then wrapped his arm around my shoulders and led me away from my parents. Mom screaming at me, Dad staying completely silent.
(There ya have it, folks. The end of Monster. How was it? Think it was a good ending? ...... Gosh, I'm kidding. Settle down. I'm not that mean of an author. Anyway, I literally cried while writing this chapter. I don't even know why. Yes I do, scratch that. So, how was chapter two? Tell me if you like it so far. I'm so sorry it's moving so fast. I'm really trying hard. This is a story I've wanted to write for a long time, and I finally started. I hope you guys can deal until I get to somewhere I can slow down. Also, I'm going to keep going with this, but first I want to know how many of you are actually interested. See you in the next chapter! Love you!)
