Chapter 4
"Sebastian!" I exclaimed, shocked to see him out here this early. "What are you doing out here?"
"Simply sensed your presence and came out to greet you. How was your trip home?"
Desperate to avoid the question, I shoved Jake in front of me. "This is Jake. He's a friend. Jake, meet Sebastian. Sebastian, meet Jake."
"This is your teacher?" Jake asked.
"Boyfriend?" Sebastian asked.
I sighed. "Yes, to both of you."
Sebastian was the first to speak again. "Your parents found out about you, didn't they?"
I was shocked. "How did you-"
"Your expression is sad, you look tired, and the way you avoided my question. How did they find out? Did something happen?"
I shook my head. "Nothing happened as in I couldn't control myself. The problem was that I didn't."
"Explain," Sebastian pried.
"Well, Jake was turned shortly after I was, and my mother said he had shown her his eyes. Then she said something about vampires, which was silly, and then I just got angry and showed her mine. I know I shouldn't have, and I apologize." I felt my eyes fill with tears again, but I refused to let them fall. Not in front of Sebastian. He needed to know I was strong enough to survive as a demon. Then maybe he would let me leave sooner and I could live with Jake.
I cleared my throat. "Anyway, none of it matters anymore. Are you any closer to discovering who did this to me?"
Sebastian shook his head. "Sadly, no. It's a very difficult thing to figure out, Violet. You do understand that we may never know, correct?"
I nodded. "And I'll be okay if we don't. It's not like it's a reversible thing, anyway. Honestly, I'm not sure what finding them will accomplish. We could kill them, but what good would it do? Maybe we should just give up."
Sebastian gave me an almost worried look, but simply nodded. "If you wish for us to give up, so be it. It's your life."
I nodded, and gave Jake a small smile. He had been looking at me with shock and confusion during mine and Sebastian's conversation, and I wanted to reassure him that this was what I wanted. But it wasn't. Truthfully, I did want to know who had changed me. I wanted to ask them how they did it and if it was possible to reverse. But now that I had Jake to live with me forever, the sense of urgency wasn't as strong.
Sebastian spoke, forcing me to tear my gaze away from Jake. "Violet, you can move your luggage to your room. Mey-Rin and Finny can help you. I'd like to speak to your friend, if that's alright."
"But Master Ciel-"
"Is still sleeping. You needn't worry about him. Just be quiet."
"Yes sir!" I saluted, then ran to the manor to ask for Finny's assistance.

Third Person POV:
Jake watched as Violet saluted to Sebastian, then smiled at him and ran toward the mansion. Her dress was flowing in the breeze, and she was holding her bow to make sure it didn't fall out of her long pitch black hair.
Once she disappeared into the house, Jake turned to Sebastian. "Did you need something?"
Sebastian didn't respond right away. His eyes were lingering on the doorway to the manor. A few moment later, he turned to Jake and nodded.
"Violet said you were turned shortly after she was," he said, recovering himself. "Care to elaborate?"
"I'd rather not," Jake replied reluctantly.
"It would be helpful if you would. If somehow Violet is involved with your turning, it would be very much important for me to know as her teacher. It could be another ability that she can't control, and if it is, I can't have her wandering too close to humans."
Jake was confused for a moment. "But if it is, she's living with humans here. Are you just going or lock her in her room so she doesn't change any of the servants or the master?"
"Did Violet change you?" Sebastian stated more than asked, ignoring Jake's thoughts.
Jake reluctantly nodded.
"Do you have any idea how?" Sebastian asked.
"Aren't you supposed to be the expert here? Why are you asking me all this?"
"Because it would make my job a lot easier if you knew any of the details."
"Well, I don't," Jake said, louder than he had meant to. He lowered his voice. "I only know that she was the last person I saw before losing conciousness, her eyes glowing bright, blood red. When I woke up, I was in a tree in her backyard. That's when I went to check on her, but her mother answered the door. I hadn't known what had happened then, or that my eyes were the same red her's had been. Her mother screamed for me to leave, and I did. I'd been spying on that house ever since, waiting for Violet to come home so I could finally see her again."
Almost as if she had heard her name, Violet walked out of the house, a blonde boy and red head girl following her toward the back shed. She was smiling as she spoke with them, but Jake could see right through it, almost as easily as he had seen through her fake one she had given him a couple of minutes ago.
"So you assumed that because she was on the verge of transformation and the last person you saw before passing out, she was the one who turned you?" Sebastian asked, drawing Jake's attention back to him.
Nodding, Jake sighed. "I guess I shouldn't have just jumped to conclusions and told her she was the one that changed me, huh?"
"You told her?" Sebastian asked, shocked.
Jake nodded. "I was positive that she had done it, and she had really wanted an answer when she had asked. But she doesn't remember ever seeing me after she turned."
"Because she was hungry and bloodthirsty. Most demons are once they change. I wonder why you weren't."
Jake shrugged. He could see Violet over Sebastian's shoulder, surprisingly, considering how tall he was. She was carrying a few of her bags, while the maid was holding a couple small ones and the boy was carrying most of them with ease.
"Well," Sebastian said. "Now that she thinks she turned you, it will be difficult to keep her happy and concentrated on learning. She'll be thinking of you the whole time. It won't be easy to convince her that she couldn't have turned you, either. We don't have solid proof, and until we do, you need to make sure you help her. The last thing I need on my agenda is to take care of a depressed demon."
With that, Sebastian walked away, barking orders to everyone. They all saluted and hurried to do their assigned tasks. Jake stayed where he was, watching. Soon Violet came back outside and ran to him, hugging him tightly.
"You're not leaving yet, are you?" She asked innocently.
Jake shook his head, smiling and holding her. "Of course not. I just found you. I'm not leaving you again."
This time when Violet smiled at him, he could tell it was a genuine smile, not one she normally had glued to her face to hide her sorrows. After hugging him once more, Violet ran back to the manor, waving.
