"My place!?"
"Yes do you need a hearing aid?"
"N..no.."
You stuttered over your words, casting a wary eye over the hotel room.
"I mean...its not really a place I live its..more like a dwelling.."
"What hotel are you at then?"
You blinked, sitting back on the bed.
"Four seasons.."
"Ohhh uppity are we?"
"It was what we got for the trip! Just make sure to be here around that time tonight okay?"
"Sure, what room number do you have hm?"
You sighed and got up, grabbing the key card.
"Room...411."
"How sweet, I'll be there around the time don't you worry your pretty little head Y/n nobody is going to know anything..."
There was silence, a sudden buzzing sifting through your ears as you flinched at the sound.
"Crocodile?"
No answer, just the silence of the buzzing.
"Crocodile can you hear me!? You better not be playing a prank-"
The line went dead, the ringing subsiding as you sat your phone down.
'Did he hang up on me?....Or maybe...no! God Y/n just shut up....'
You frowned and sat back on the bed, watching the television as you yawned and stretched.
Your eyes felt heavy, you turned onto your side and closed your eyes throwing one of the blankets on top of you.
"Better get here on time.."
-----
You shifted slightly, your eyes still closed as you rolled over onto the other side of the bed catching a whiff of a musky fragrance.
You recoiled, turning back to the other side of the bed where you were met with the same smell.
"What the fuck.."
You opened your eyes, rubbing the sleep out of them before looking up at the man in your room.
"Crocodile what the fuc-"
"Be quiet."
He sat in the chair beside the window, pulling out a small case of his cigars before lighting one.
"You can't smoke in here.."
"Oh well?"
He shrugged and looked at you.
"You're really cute when you're sleeping you know, all silent and not talking."
You rolled your eyes and got up, looking at the clock.
"Also the schedule is being moved a bit, we'll have to go in a few hours time."
"A few hours?"
Your voice called from the bathroom, brushing through your now frizzy and tangled hair.
"Yes its around.."
There was a small silence before he walked to the bathroom and leaned into the doorway.
"Around three thirty now, I'd say...one twenty is good."
You looked up at him, tapping the end of the brush to your arm.
"That's not a 'few hours' Crocodile.."
"Take it or leave it, I don't care if you want to get murdered tonight, but I sure as hell don't."
"Yeah sure.."
You brushed past him, making your way to your bag to grab out a few files.
"That means I'm stuck with you for like....twelve hours..."
"Oh I wouldn't say stuck...just occupied."
He sat down on the bed, raising an eyebrow as you laid the papers out on the desk.
"What're you doing?"
"I'm looking over notes I got that are going to be helping this case we have.."
You glanced behind you at the relaxed man puffing away at his tobacco, sighing.
"Do you just stay in here all day?"
"Yes for the most part.."
"Why don't you go out sometime? I mean I hardly believe you'll be working the whole time you're here."
"Well you better believe it, there's a lot of violence here and you're not helping it none.."
He scoffed, your eyes snapping back to him as he stood and looked out the window.
"We have twelve hours or so to kill, why don't we just go somewhere."
You spun around in the chair and crossed your arms.
"There is no we, there is me and then there is you, you're helping me with this case as a suspect of the crimes and not as my partner. You can go kill time, You can go out and have fun, You can go do whatever the hell you want. But I can't. "
You spun back to face the desk, grabbing up a pen as you sorted through the papers.
You felt his eyes on your back as your chair was spun around harshly, your eyes now locked to his icy gray ones.
"Who do you think you're talking to woman.."
His eyebrows creased, his face coming down to yours; foreheads nearly touching as his eyes went half lidded.
"Do you have any idea what I'm able to do to you, even your own team wouldn't know what happened to you because I can get rid of you. I'm helping you and you should be grateful that I don't just suffocate you now and leave your body for the police to find."
He pulled back, standing tall as he continued to smoke on his shortening cigar.
"So don't threaten me."
You stared at him for a few minutes more before slowly turning back to work as you heard his footsteps make their way to the door and echo down the hall as the door closed behind him.
"Why did I let myself get tied up into this...working with criminals isn't my specialty.."
You looked back to the bed where his coat was slung across the side, a sigh recollecting in your throat as you got up.
"Yeah just leave your stuff strewn across my room.."
You grabbed it up and hung it over your arm as you grabbed out a hanger from the wardrobe.
"One twenty...what am I supposed to do until then...I know I have my notes
.but.."
You meticulously slid the coats shoulders onto the hanger before smoothing it down and hanging up.
"Maybe I should enjoy myself..but I have work to do to...mm.."
You sighed, walking back to the bed to lay down.
You heard your phone vibrate, going to pick it up before you heard a voicemail.
"Y/n, I need you to do something for me if you're not busy with you work.."
There was a long pause, silence on the line making you worry as a muffled voice could be heard in the background.
"I need you to come to the lobby at four o clock....."
The line went dead as you blinked, cautiously looking at the clock on the bedside for the time.
"Three fifty six..what's he planning.."
You opened the blinds, peeking out between them down on the streets below.
"Crocodile.."
You paced back and forth between the window and bed, sighing and tapping your arm as you glanced at your phone every now and again.
"What's going on..."
