Comatose

"We have reports on her, she's just not waking up "
"A nasty blow to the head it seems."
"She hasn't woken up since yesterday, but be patient sir she'll respond soon."

This was all the doctors could reassure him with? Measly little tabs on your existing factors that you're still alive?

This was a god awful amount of bullshittery, if you were going to wake up you should do it soon, before he himself goes into his own mind numbing sickness..

It had happened a mere day ago when he'd found you sprawled onto the hall floor.

To say he was concerned was an understatement, clearly as the older man had delicately plucked her from the floor, carrying her dead weight to the hospital.

There she was brought into the ER and taken back with one of the few doctors that surrounded her into a room.

Thereafter she was hooked up to all sorts of machines, making sure to help her breathe and stimulate her heart enough for it to keep beating.

He didn't know why you had collapsed like that, he didn't think he wanted to.

But he wanted to make sure that it wouldn't happen again.

There he stayed beside her, his hand wrapped around hers as his thumb grazed over her cold knuckles.

His thoughts were running rampant at this point, your voice a far away melody in his mind.

His lip was clenched between his teeth, a cold sweat running down the side of his usually smooth face.

"Dammit woman... Wake up.."

His mutters fell on deaf ears, the only noise sounding through the room being the monitors.

His head fell, looking down at her small hand.

He turned it over gently, tracing along the lines of her palm.

A sigh broke through his lips as his eyes wandered down her still body, a small smile breaking through his stoic demeanor.

So small and precious she was to the reptile, not that he'd ever express such emotions to her in person.

He was hopeless and he knew it, he just didn't want to hurt anymore than he did...but this little brat....this little lady....had wrapped herself tightly around his forgotten heart.

How she managed he didn't know, but she had done it well.

He thought two weeks were enough days for a trial run, dumping her off somewhere like the rest of his little flings.
However two weeks turned into six, and eventually transpired into three months.

And he knew now that three months was enough time, enough time for the final decision he'd make.

He pressed a soft kiss to the back of her hand, standing.

He gazed across the room a moment before he made his exit, walking down the bleach smelling halls.

He walked from the building, thunder rolling across the darkening gray sky as he slowly walked from the parking lot to the walkway beside the road.

The rain came down on his shoulders, his hair falling in his face as he dropped the coat he wore to the ground.

He looked up at the sky, a frown apparent on his face.

"Why do you damn me so?"
