Time
The man Infront of the two shook; his eyes glancing between them both as he adjusted in his seat.
The man Infront of him smoked on his thick cigar, taking it out every so often to speak subtly and deeply. A young lady stood beside him, a hand resting on the back of his chair as she surveyed them both; E/c eyes emotionless and void.
He wondered to himself how this could be; how could someone like him find a lover? What did the young woman see in a man that has been broadcasted as a manipulative sadist?
Whatever the answer may have been, all he knew was that these two, these monsters, had found a solace in one another.
He swallowed, a hand coming up to adjust the collar of his shirt before resting it back against the cool leather armrest of the chair; steeling himself to speak.
"Well, Mr. Crocodile sir.." He started slowly, leaning forward. "Everything seems to have been in order and...All we need from you is your signature of acceptance.." a shaky smile rose on his slick face; damp with sweat.
Crocodile merely grunted, retrieving a pen that the young lady had pulled from her hair. "A signature is all you need..On a document I have yet to lay my eyes on..?" His eyes rose coolly, still half lidded with carefree lax.
He shuffled in his coat pocket, retrieving the document to set on the desk. "Yes sir, if you'd like to read over it before hand-"
Before he could say another word, a quick hand retrieved the paper; however, both men's eyes rested on the woman before them as she read.
Crocodile simply leaned back in his chair, crossing a leg. "Do you see anything significant dearest.." his eyes closed, a small hum emanating from his throat as she simply shook her head. "Let me see it then-"
"No." Her reply was short and stern, eyes glancing now to the man Infront. "I don't appreciate you bringing this kind of garbage here, we gave you fair play and you ask for more than half your share." Her voice was a sweet poison, eyes readied and sharp. "All I see are loopholes.."
Crocodile withdrew his hand from his pocket, snatching the paper from her grip to read over himself. "Hm." He sat up, his eyes taken to the stout man Infront of him. "Why is that, hm? I give you a fair sum and yet you persist in your doings."
The young man swallowed, sitting up from his seat. "Well, we're just trying to get an extra sum in accountancy to a spike drop-"
"We have specifically agreed on a fifteen percent rate, you still give me a twenty percent sum; did you think I'd sign this blindly? Given this, your opportunity for a foreclosure has dissolved. I am a business man; not a charitable organization." With that, the tall man stood, the paper in his hand slowly shriveling and disintegrating onto his desk in a dry sand pile. "Now leave; before the same comes to you."
The youth left without another word, grabbing his things quickly.
Crocodile looked at you now, letting out a small sigh as a hand came to rest on your shoulder. "Leniency is a weakness..I am glad you spoke." He brushed past you, extinguishing the ember of his burnt cigar in an ashtray. "Sometimes I wonder where id be without you my love."
You simply smiled and shook your head. "You'd be a few thousand dollars poorer, come on, let's go take a nice bath and watch television...Thankfully that was the last one for today.." you took his hand in your own, grinning at the size difference. "I'm also glad you didn't sign that.."
"Me too love, me too." He walked beside you into the hall, leaning down to kiss the top of your hand. "It was a posh deal to begin with, I've worked with those people before but I thought they'd get a better head on themselves; well, seems I have been mistaken."
You chuckled. "Leniency is weakness." You looked up at him with a smile, pecking his wrist. "I still don't understand why you allow me to be in there with you; wouldn't that put you at a disadvantage..?"
"How so?" His voice echoed from the walls as you climbed the stairs together, his thumb coming to caress your fingers every so often. "I see no problem in it, you own half of this business as well.."
"I understand, I just don't want them thinking that I'm a weakness of yours and use that for their own benefit." You looked at the floor. "I worry.."
"Don't worry, you're no weakness of mine in business; only in heart.." he glanced at you now, his other arm coming to scoop you into his chest. "And that is where you will stay.."
You rested against him, listening to the rhythmic beat of his heart as he walked down the hall to the bedroom. "I would hope so, otherwise you would've just wasted breath on me."
"There is no such thing as wasted breath when it comes to you; only wasted moments by peddlers and their games.." he tucked a few hairs behind your ear, a smile ghosting his lips. "And even they couldn't get my time as you could.."
You slid from his arms as you reached the bed, taking your shoes and setting them aside as you started to undress. "The robes Croci..."
"What if I want you to walk around naked..?"
"Crocodile give me the damn robe!" Your cheeks flushed, grabbing at the soft robe as the last of your clothing came off. "I swear.."
"What? Oh, I get it, it's because I'm grumpy all the time right? I can't entertain myself because im supposed to be solemn and angry.."
"It's not that you're supposed to be, it's just that you are." You slid from the bed, walking past him to the bathroom. "I can't help you there."
"I bet you could.."
"How much?"
He grinned slightly, laying back on the bed. "Don't play this game with me.."
"Well I'm already playing it." You checked yourself in the mirror, letting your hair out of its ponytail as you ran a hand through it.
"Haven't I taught you anything...?" He rolled over, looking at you. "Don't ever play with a seasoned gambler..."
"Oh you're seasoned alright.." you glanced over and grinned, walking back to lay Infront of him. "You're seasoned pretty damn good." You gave his nose a small peck, pulling back before a hand came and pulled you towards him.
"Pretty damn good..? Good isn't alright, i have to work with you now.." he sat up slowly, cradling your body close to his as he sat up.
"Crocodile...Time is money and we don't have time for this.." you put a hand on his chest, letting your head rest against the pillow.
"Time is money.." he leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to your neck, "and to waste it with you, makes me the richest man in the world.."
